And is it just me, or has the legion actually downgraded their armor?

They used to have full plate, now they wear whimpier suits largely made of leather.

I would imagine it's not only cheaper, but a lot more functional when you are maneuvering around the Terrain in Skyrim, compared to the flatlands of Cyrodill.

Maybe its warmer?

I could see a light regiment wearing the leather, but you think the Line troops and the Pentius Occulatus would have the heaviest armor avaliable. they wouldn't be crawling around in the hills and such, they just have to conduct frontal assaults and guard fortresses. that doesn't require lighter armor that allows for mobility.

It seems like the Guards in all the holds and the Stormcloaks have heavier armor then the legion. Full head protection, chain-mail, and the leather padding to keep out the cold and stray nicks.

On that crash thing. Oddly enough, I get the same issue in one of the southern caves.

It only started after I quicksaved, though, so I think it might be linked to that. My other two characters keep running fine, just that one save file.

Maybe this is just me, but I've been getting a vibe that the reason the Empire's armor is made of cheaper materials probably has to do with the fact that In Oblivion, the Imperial Legion was pretty much glorified city watchmen. Since they were not in wartime, they had more resources to use when making armor for the Legionaries. Now they are equipping more men (for the fronts in Skyrim and for the Inevitable round two with the Thalmor), they have to find a way to equip all of the Legionaries.

Every, single, time.

I've verified game caches, defragmented, ran as administrator and put it on the lowest graphical settings yet after a minute or two of smooth gameplay it just closes to desktop (the new characters load point is at the first three standing stones and I can defeat the wolves that ALWAYS spawn on the way to riverwood and take a few steps before it dies).

Any idea's?

Update, I tried to update my graphics drivers (which are out of date) and the update crashes when trying to install the nvidia controller.

For some reason this means that NOTHING recognises my graphics card anymore and I can't play any games -.-

I hate Dwarven Ruins, I went into Mzulft for the College of Winterhold quest, and I hated every minute. It wasn't hard or anything, but I just got this eerie vibe while I was down there, probably had to do with the fact that there are no more dwarves in Skyrim (that I've seen).

Also, why do Falmar need torches and other such sources of light? You'd think that with their society those would just be a hazard.

Falmer don't use torches. They use naturally occurring glowing mushrooms.

But yeah, the whole being blind thing isn't represented very well. If they are blind, why do they have ranged spells and archers? And how the hell are they so damned accurate?

The thing I hate about Dwemer ruins is that the machinery never stops. The clanging, the sliding of metal, the hissing of steam... sometimes it's hard to hear the enemies over the sound of it, and they can get the jump on you.

Still startles me sometimes.

Yessss, I want a Musket too.

Maybe the next Elder Scrolls game will be of the late 4E and there will be Steampunk elements. The relearning of the Dwemmer technology and such.

And maybe the map wil be ALL of Tamriel, every provence will be in the game.

Leave the crap steampunkish games to the Fable franchise, I like my Elder scroll games as is. The map being all provinces I can deal with though.

I think they're gonna cycle through more of the provinces before that. Maybe set the next one in Elsewyr or Black Marsh, since those places have been setup with some of the novels and fluff.

Or, alternately, set it in Summerset Isle, and you're destined to either destroy the Thalmer or raise them to become the ultimate power in Cyrodiil.

Also, you can go to Mzuleft again? I thought that was on the eastern side of Vvardenfell...

And as far as I know, there's no Dwemer left anywhere in Cyrodiil. The last one was that Corprus-y dude in Tel Fyr's Corprusarium.

I thought I saw torches last night... I know there were mushrooms, but I'm pretty sure I caught a torch or two

Also, it would be awesome to take those bloody Thalmor down a peg or two.

It is possible that there are torches present in the same area as the falmer, but that doesn't mean the falmer use them.

Remember that the falmer hardly build; they take over existing settlements.

I actually think he sounds pretty good. I like the varity that Skyrim has in their voice and facial appearence distribution. Oblivion was really annoying, it seemed like there were only about 4 varients in each races appearence. I swear the seriously overused the face that Uriel and Marten had. ugg, it was frakkin everywhere.
