Probably just has a special cover. Primaris edition is the typical overpriced varient.

Don't be so hasty to dismiss the Primaris edition. Some of us old folk have been needing a large print version for a while now.

That's what it is, right?
Heh. I am envisioning something the size of a coffee table book.

@AegisGrimm I was surprised as well. While the models aren't exactly cheap (what is the deal with the Reivers being $60?), but they aren't as expensive as I was expecting. It just seems like the characters are the overpriced units, but that isn't unusual.

My god, I actually did not choke at those prices. After those damn first characters, I expected the Agressors to be priced like Centurions, and although the Reivers are a bit too rich for my blood, they aren't priced any worse than Stormcast Liberators (probably a ton less weapon options, though-Liberators came with a good deal in that way). And the Dreadnought's not 75+ dollars, either.

Wonder of wonders, I guess.

The Reivers are priced like the Stormcast Hunters. They're 5 model minimum units and the box comes with 10 for $60.

So 2 minimum sized units for $60 isn't awful. Not ideal but not awful.

Unit minimums of 5, box is 10 models.

That's about the only reason I can think of for Reivers being $60 like the Stormcast Hunters.

that 20 extra $ is for the 10% extra size diffrence and 10% cool skull faces.

also possibly because of the grav chute option might take up a ton of space depending on how its glued in.

More interested in the idea of those data cards (assuming they're unit cards from the codex?)

I don't play marines, but I do hope unit cards are a thing for later armies.

I am sure that is probably it. There is art depicting one wielding a bolt rifle (there has been mention of a bolt carbine), so there are probably weapon options we haven't seen in addition to the Grav chutes. There is about a 99% certainty that if there is a bolt carbine setup (perhaps Assault 2, shorter range Bolt Rifles), that I will build my Reivers as that for my Crimson Fists. It has nothing to do with the fact that my service weapon is an M4 Carbine. Not. One. Bit.

So we know there are two more characters, the tank and two or three more squad boxes depending on if the Intercessor's and Hellblasters share a kit. That leaves the Gravis Captain, the Ancient and Lieutenant's. Its possible they could be alternate builds from the Agressor and Intercessor kits or due for separate releases. But I have a feeling those guys are going to be exclusive to the starter boxes for a while yet

Guess it is nice to see the Codex back down to 50 - although reduced discount about evens it out.

As for that Primaris Edition - that's the most expensive codex ever yes? Gotta pace that limited edition rulebook! Better be a Forgeworld esque Spare Marine statue!

We'll have to wait and see. I'm hoping that is what they are, like the Kharadron Overlords, Stormcast, and Blades of Khorne releases got.

The art we've seen looked to be the Bolt Carbine, not the Bolt Rifle. Bolt Rifle has a scope attached to it and a longer casing for the rifle.

The art that we saw actually seemed to be smaller than a standard Boltgun.

And like I said, it's 10 for $60. Hopefully the Intercessors and Hellblasters are similarly priced(not the $60 part but "2 squads in one box" part) and packaged.

I'm sorry if I missed this, but I don't see the regular Primaris Intercessors listed on the release schedule. They wouldn't make those guys this edtion's deff kopters, would they?

Perhaps they will resprue the Gravis Captain, LTs, and Ancient and release them as a Primaris Marine Command Group. That or they will remain only available in their current sources (which aren't limited). Who knows. But we still have at least the Inceptor kit coming (100% buy for me since I love Plasma).

We still have the multi-part Inceptor kit coming as well. A lot of people are thinking the Intercessors and Hellblasters will be one multipart kit. Hopefully with one more weapon option, otherwise I am just buying parts of Dark Imperium.

Yeah. I can see the gravis captain, Liutenauts and the Ancient being "starter set" only. But not the "Primaris Tactical Squad". That is just nonsense.

No, terrain does that.

People have complained in every edition of the game so far about being wiped in turn one by enemy shooting, and the actual problem has almost always been that they haven't had enough terrain on the table.

With the way cover works now, I think it's more important than ever before to make sure your terrain collection includes a good number of large LOS blocking pieces.

We play with at least 1/3 of the table space of terrain, at least 4 LoS blocking pieces, rest are ruins and walls. So, while it can help, your opponent does get to move first to re-position. Someone shooting with all their units before you get to retaliate is always going to be a huge advantage. It's not as bad this edition, but in the case of LoW, super heavies, or just very efficient long-range shooting, it will continue to be an issue.
As I said, it's nice to have night-fighting-esque methods on that first turn to help soften the impact.

I suspect you're right but I suspect at the same time we might be suprised by the options avaliable as well, I'm thinking given the preview fluff we saw as well as the captain kit, intercessors bolt rifles could have 3 distinct options, meanwhile we have seen one imagine of a hellblaster with "ammo pack" so a duel kit could have a suprising number of options if we extrapolate from that we could be looking at 3 differant weapons types for intercessors, and 2 for hellblasters.

that said obviously we'll know the likelyhood of a duel kit when the codex comes out, variation within squads will be a big factor

I wouldn't mind a Melta variant of Hellblasters. Or perhaps something like a Lasblaster (short range, rapid fire Lascannons). Basically, I would like to see a man-portable Las talon from the Stormhawk.

Nice. I was expecting the Dread to cost at least $80 (to not devalue the Leviathan Dread that FW sells). I'll gladly pay 65 (minus discount) for one or two of those bad boys

He only has two main weapon options and two auxilary weapon options, so he isn't nearly as robust as the classic dread or Venerable dread in terms of options in the kit.

Am I the only person that has suddenly gone for Plasma Spam? Ever since they fixed the whole "It blows you up randomly", I find Plasma to be the best option for middle ground between anti-vehicle and anti-personnel.

There are leaks for the weapon options of the new Dreadnought? And plasma is now the most flexible weapon in a edition where specialization comes with a price hike and you need the proper weapons to kill the appropiate targets. That plus a good point prices makes Plasma a very flexible weapon. It isn't gonna let you down ever.

I could actually see Grav getting a price cut. It does not really do much of anything better than the other Special Weapons and plasma is a better generalist weapon by far (and cheaper to boot).

I saw a pic of them with a shooty and a choppy armament, so that's more or less what I was expecting there.

And you're totally not the only one to go plasmagun/pistol spam. It's a good TAC option, no doubt. Unless you're building a melta-heavy skew list, I don't see any real reason to take anything else, personally. Then again, nobody runs any significant horde army in the group I play with.
