I'll be using #2, with maybe some leftover Raider bits to Delfdar it up, for my Voidraven Bomber.
The second option is definately the better way to go. Another possibility is the plain Eldar Phoenix. There's less Eldar ornaments on this model and it's basically the same thing.

Yeah but £65 is pricey especially if you want 3 in your army.

Oh, very nice! Yeah, that one will be much easier to Delfdarify, I won't have to get rid of the runes and whatnot.
I didn't see that one on ForgeWorld's website, am I missing something?

Anyone have a size comparison for the Phoenix? Up against a Raider, or even a Wave Serpent? The pictures on FW don't give a good indication of scale.

Thank you.
Yeah, that pretty much closes the deal. Will be getting one (possibly two) of those when I start seriously buying DE models.

I've seen that before and it's, IMO, just the worst of the worst...looks more like a kitbashed orc vehicle.

I kinda have the same sentiment. I saw someone play a game using pretty much just the stuff that'll be in the first wave, it didn't go to well. Dark Eldar will really need their 1.5 and wave 2 units before they stand a chance at being competetive.

Also on the Bomber, I think I will definitely be buying whatever looks right from FW, depending on the rules, and the look of the new models when I actually see them first hand.

That would be because Kira has spent so long piloting GUNDAM Battle Suits that his hair is full of grease and oil, and as such is now immune to the effects of both wind and rain
Also, I no longer have access to Photoshop Image Ready, so can't currently make any new animated signatures in the way I would like =p

1.) On flyers: The DARK ELDAR RAVEN FIGHTER is, well, a fighter, so a good choice for the Razorwing Fighter in the Codex. The Codex art looks more like a slightly more spikey variant of the Eldar Nightwing fighter http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Eldar/ELDAR-NIGHTWING.html , but this model could be used as well. The DE VOID DRAGON PHOENIX ( http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Dark_Eldar/VOID-DRAGON-PHOENIX.html ) and maybe also Eldar PHOENIX http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Eldar/ELDAR-PHOENIX.html are perfect candidates for the Voidraven Bomber. All these flyers are about Valkyrie sized, but flatter.
2.) Concerning the background:
Nothing that can be fully described and most of it completely new. Better description of the fall, better description of the webway, very detailed description of Commoragh, very detailed description of Dark Eldar history including Vect's rise, very nice background material for all units (e.g. Hellions now street punks and not Wych cult, fighting in Commoragh's skies with Scourges and Reavers) and especially all special characters (David Bowie in Space or Vect's ex-wife). Judging from the weird German translation, the original texts seems to be complex and ornate (esp. when Jes visualizes how Commoragh looks). The fluff section alone makes it worth buying the Codex.

Long time lurker, but have a question. Can someone who's seen the codex give an update on how pain points work? I'm specially wondering about FC and Fearless. I had heard from some sources that if a single unit got 2 or 3 points the entire army got FC/FL, others have said they apply to only the unit that earns them. My LGS doesn't rate, I guess, and so I will not being seeing the codex till launch day.

It's unit by unit. 1 token, FNP; 2 tokens, Furious Charge; 3 tokens, Fearless. There might be some shenanigans with units that confer tokens and what happens when they leave/die, but that's for the FAQ in 4-12 months.

The Starcannon was nerfed down to be pretty crap, so that bodes rather poorly for the DE version.
I fail to see why Phil couldn't leave the Starcannon and Disintegrator alone, and simply bumped their price up to something appropriate. It's not like you've got GW monkeying with the stats of Bolters, Plasma Guns, or Lascannons willy-nilly. It's crazy and counter-productive. Ok, I've searched and searched, and it's 3 am and might be why I can't find it, but when will they hit the shelves? I know they're on advance order right now, but does that mean available Nov 5? The reason I ask, is I want to support my current, and old gaming stores by buying stuff from both, since I'll be going back to my home town the weekend of November 6th for a wedding, and could pick up the models then if they'll be there by the 5th.

November 5th is the release date, though Indie Gaming stores might get theirs later.
