Being a werewolf only has two advantages; immunity to disease and beast form(barely). I find the beast form to be mostly useless unless you need to break out of prison and you have already broken your one lockpick. Don't know the rational for the guard's thinking but they open the gate that keeps you in the cell.
Guard: "Humdy-dum-di-dum. Wait a second what is this? A prisoner is becoming a werewolf in his cell? This locked cell could hold him for eternity, but how dare the prisoner do that? I'll just open this locked gate and teach them a lesson.".
As far as the rings are concerned, I have no idea about what to say about it. I personally wouldn't wear more than one ring so I guess that the rational behind it is the fact that most people wouldn't run around looking like Liberace with gold rings bedazzling every single digit.

I do find it annoying that your health regeneration seems to be non-existant when your a werewolf.
If you take too much damage you have to run and hide, of course if you happen to be in a cramped space to start with your health probably isn't very low.

Its there mainly for fluff in my opinion.

Sad to say the conflict between the Thalmor and the Empire is infinitely for interesting than any other in the game and yet, almost nothing is done with it in Skyrim other than stage setting.
That's interesting, the general reaction to Oblivion was pretty meh, and it was largely seen as a big disappointment following on from Morrowind. You can see this on metacritic, where Oblivion averaged a user score of 7.8, compared to Oblivion's 8.5.
It's horses for courses, and I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, but I certainly shared the general feeling about Oblivion, between the woeful voice acting, repeated dungeons, boring constant fights with stupidly geared bandits, and grinding through Oblivion, and horrible levelling system, I burned out on Oblivion long before the end.
I do see the limitations of Skyrim, but every time I play I find a half dozen little bits and pieces I love, from an interesting new character to a wonderful dungeon. It's been traditional since the early days of D&D to limit characters to two rings, one for each hand. It's a simple system, and makes enough sense.
If I was to write my own system I'd let people have as many rings as they want, but make those rings incredibly rare. Like, LotR rare, so finding one really meant something. That wouldn't really work with the enchanting system in Skyrim, though...

So far, doing random stuff and dungeons in Oblivion was more fun.
Really, I dont want to be busy for 1 hour or more for an average dungeon. In Oblivion a 30 minute dungeon was big, and I would have liked it better that way.
However, the story is better in Skyrim, but remember, Im not busy with main questline but with Stormcloaks.
The thing about Whiterun in the civil war is, that at the Imperial Legion you have to defend it and as Stormcloaks attack it. And sieging is wavy more awsome.
Defending walls or running towards a city while batteries of catapults hammer the city in front of you?
You decide whats more awsome

Defending walls is more fun if you're an archer. I like raining vampiric arrows of doom down onto the heads of the rebel scum who have no choice but to advance into a killing field.

I thought the storyline was just as crap as that of Oblivion, never got interested at all. Being able to kill the endboss in 5 hits on master diff didn't help either. And once you've done that, you get to play on, yet no one even makes any comment about you having saved the ffing world and all. Hell, I figured I'd at least get some kind of reward help me on my way after that but no, nothing.

To be honest Sol, your character is equipped to the teeth with items that the normal player won't bother with. Like while I might have 100 smithing, and might try for full Daedric armor, I have crap enchanting, so my armor is going to be very basic...

Sadly you are wrong here my friend, they do in fact comment on you saving the world. Iv heard it a few times, its along the lines of "You have vanquished a great evil for the world" or something like that. I do admit though that the quest line was a step down from Oblivions rather weak(now that I look back) main quest. Guess my new characters will just do the same as Oblivion, avoid the main quest like the plague XD.

Thing is, you don't really need to be good at enchanting and smithing to have awesome gear. Well, I did take the time to max my smithing skill making a bazillion iron daggers.. then I took those daggers and the crazy amt of soul gems I've been able to find, and did basic enchants on them.. so my smithing is 100 and enchanting around 80 now. I never spent any perk points in Enchanting, but I added 2 to smithing so I can improve magical gear. Just digging around in dungeons I collected a full suit of ebony armor & weapons for my companion, upgraded it all to legendary goodness and for me at level 49 I just started finding Daedric weapons, which I made legendary too. Most things I can kill in 1 hit, a draugr dreadlord dies in 2 arrows. Yet, if I run into a group of mages they can freeze me down to deadness in seconds. But, I do think smithing and enchanting are a little too overpowered, even without adding perks. At the same time, I like being uber so I don't want em to nerf me

See, the reason you're finding things easy like that is that you're grinding. Try not grinding with a character, and just progressing normally. Only use Smithing to create gear you're planning on using, same with Enchanting. Choose a weapon and armour and just go hunting- wandering around the world, either following quests or not, and fighting off whatever you come across. Makes it a lot more satisfying when you eventually do reach higher levels, if you had to flee and fight for your life when you wander into a Dwemer Hall at level 10 and have your ass handed to you.

I wholeheartedly agree with Anvildude. That is my playstyle. Furthermore, it's with that playstyle that I found my caster way OTT. I slaughtered two dragons in 30 minutes last night, where approx. 26 minutes was travel time ...
I still haven't made a character that feels "right" to me. But that's how I am with every Bethesda game. I'll play a a character for 10-20 hours and then get the urge to make a new one. I actually have a similar issue. What I'll do is mix up archetypes and races- First comes an aged Imperial Wizard. Then a dual-wielding Argonian. Then a Brettonic Battlemage. Then a High Elf Paladin (Resto and blade, with Heavy Armour). Planning on a Khajiiti Sorcerer (Bethestda definition, with HA and Destro stuff). Might try a Wood Elf Archer-Assassin.
Usually I stick with my Battlemage, but in this case, I've been playing a lot of my Wizard, mostly due to my Battlemage crashing all the time.

You don't have to do all the quests with every character. I tend to not do Dark Brotherhood or Thieves, myself, and if I'm playing a pure-combat or pure-mage, I'll not do quests for the alternate guild.

I really like my conjuration warrior myself, the bound weapons are affected by the relevant skills (archery, one-handed etc.) and scale to your level, saving on weaponry, everything else is just heavy armour and block.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. I don't. My point is there's not much that's heroic to do in Skyrim. You can pay off a pauper's debt here and get someone off Skooma there but note that it's not hugely involved. The best I can think of is retrieving Mjoll's sword.

I'm thinking:
Duel Weild Orc: Berserking Orcs in Heavy Armor don't take much damage, and duel weild really puts out the damage. Only problem is, I don't like the idea of being reliant on my power for survivability...
Wizard of Some Sort: I have always loved being a mage, but I hate the way magic works in this game (Have to find certain spells, can't make your own), so that really kills it off for me.
Khajiit: A Bow and going Hand to Hand would allow me to skip out on weight, since I don't have to worry about two weapons, but you can't enchant gloves....

Yeah same here. After finishing the main quest with my argonian, I started again like 3 times. First was a Breton Daedra Summoner/Necromancer, which I got bored with, and then it was a Khajit Assasin, which I didn't like playing as (seriously, Khajit are pretty boring to play as. Nothing special like the other races )
Now I am trying a Nord with great weapon and heavy armor.

Problem for me is that regardless of how I play, and what kind of game I play. I need a challenge. This game not having much in the way of challenge (even before started using enchanting mind you, I only started doing that around level 30) got me bored after finishing everything. In a way this is my own problem I guess
I'll be playing again when we get DLC but that's about it.
