First of all..

Wow! Just realised this thread has over 10k views! Massive thanks to all those who've stopped by to take a gander, especially those who took the time to comment and contribute.

As we're now on a new page, heres the list again:

(See page 8)

The Raven Guard Scouts are done! Very happy with these (except perhaps the Chapter badges, not my best work but passable all the same). Deliberately chose a dark palette, i imagine these guys are in the middle of a night-time raid.

Hopefully from now on the images should all be of a similar quality, thank to MajorTom11's excellent Image Editing with Photoshop tutorial. I urge anyone who struggles with taking pics to check iot out, the difference is amazing!!

@stonned-astartes: Thanks bud! Hopefully should have more soon

@Yggs: Cheers, nice to see you here! It was the first time ive used hawk turquoise for OSL, i like it and shall be using it for all the mechanicum plasma weapons!

Yeah its a shame you cant participate, its a great idea by PDH and Baiyuan and i would have loved to see what you came up with! If you have any cool ideas though, you are more than welcome to share them with all over at the thread, its not just for the participants!

Thanks for looking,

Vitruvian

I think the big things put most people off - Gits hadn't really touched tanks til he did in his blog for example

More to do with the scale of them I think - I think you'd do those Titans proud. Your metals are splendid.

DSS is right on... a combination of size and previous bad experiences brush painting large, flat surfaces. The airbrush is what really got me going on tanks and right now... I'm happy as a clam working on them.

I *really* like the way you did the globe, and especially the light. I always struggle with painting that thing on the end of the homing beacon & your solution is excellent.

Consider it stolen.

So...that's...either a Leman Russ barrell or the Cityfight ruin chimney exhaust....

A Rhino/Land Raider cupola thingy.

A Terminator teleport homer.

A hanging light from the Cityfight ruins

Some very crafty bits usage. And lovely glowing red light!

love the scouts, they are awesome! the subtle glow from the pack is great and something i've not seen done on them before but it looks really damn good as do the goggles lenses! you've got some seriously good work going on at the moment!

Ditto on the scouts- definitely inspired with the limited pallet. The OSL is also quite nice, I especially like the "Cyclops/Robocop" scout out of the 5.

Onto the soldiers- very interesting camo. I enjoy the look of them as well... and yes, do tell- what'd you use to make that mega-scanner?

Thanks, i didnt really intend to make them so minimalistic at first, they just seemed to paint themselves!

Im not too hot at camo, but i think it works ok, will be varying each squads camo pattern and colours See below for the parts breakdown...

Thanks Gits! I thought making the globe a glowing light source as well would be going too far! Not too happy with the red glow on the dish though, but meh, cant get it all right!

Steal away my friend! God knows ive done it enough to you!

@Izanagi: Thanks Remi, trying to finish it asap...

@stonned_astartes: Cheers! Its going to be an off-white with red trim (basically the opposite of the infantry), fairly heavily weathered. Will be a challenge to pull off but i'm game!

Finished my first Valkyrie! Yay! List at top of page 7 updated, th green grows ever-steadily!! I wasnt too sure about the weathering on the wings, first time i tried oil paint on a mini. I think i went overboard a bit, but its acceptable, =i'll just have t hone the technique on the next one...

I think the weathering fine. Have you got a air-brush? if not its probably a good idea to invest in one.

Thanks.

Yeah i have a run-of-the-mill airbrush, it works for basecoating and with judicious use of masking tape i can stretch out its utility further. I need to get a bit more cash and think about a pro one.

...I'm jealous. Every single day you're churning out models... that flyer looks good, and it'll look even better with the drop troop models around it!

Keep it up!

@Izanagi: Yeah, im really motivated atm, having more fun painting than i ever have tbh. The drop troops are annoyingly detailed, so its taking a bit, i keep chipping away here and there at several different projects at once.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks! You got that right, it feels so good to be finally finishing all those projects that have been in limbo for the best part of a couple of years...

Didnt finish anything last night, hence no update as yet, but i had fun playing a couple of 40k games, so thats fine

More later, thanks for looking,

Bit of a go-slow today, done some work, but not enough to show pics of.

So, you'll just have to be happy with far better pics of the Valk:

Damn that's a good looking Valkyrie. The weathering looks great and I like the camo scheme. The same goes for the rest of the elysians too.
