Warpseer wrote:Pretty sweet job there. Love the way you did the red on the plates.

Thanks, btw. It is actually very simple. I did a basecoat of mechrite red, with a bit of chaos black (about same shade as scab red, with MUCH better coverage), stippled blood red on, washed with badab black straight out of the pot, and did the blood red edge highlights. The only thing that took more than a few minutes was the edge highlights, which I still find difficult and takes some time.

The poses on your zerkers are just insane! Now I feel abit sad that I was such a chicken when I reposed my zerkers -.- Some of them looks like they'd fall over for nothing, how is the balance?

Thanks! The balance is pretty good actually. The trick is to build the model first, then place it on the base (I pin them) to find the best balance.

Your work is amazing! Both the conversions/repositioning (which I really love!) that make each model have character and life, and your painting (which thankfully doesn't detract from the awesome conversions) are beautifully done. I look forward to more! Also, how do you do those bases? I've recently been trying to get better with my bases. I really like those stones you appear to make (I didn't have time to read through your whole thread just now, I just looked at all the pictures - so maybe you have answered this before)..

Thanks! My goal is definitely to have as much character as possible in every single model in the army - which means I am converting every single one. It takes a long time, but hey, I like doing it, and I am not planning on fielding them anytime soon. Now, I've been looking at my terminators and becoming more and more dissatisfied with them, so I'm selling them, and I am in the process of making new ones, with more action-like poses, based on the Terminator Lord. I've made 3 so far, and they look really good I think. Also on the worktable is a dreadclaw. (and the stormraven. And more troops. And the land raider. And getting paint on them. I need to stop buying and converting stuff, and get some paint on them! :-D )

The bases? That's just me cheating. They're chaos bases from Micro Art Studios. Great looking and not too expensive.

Can't tell you. It's a secret...

Me - I am not so fond of Khorne generally, neither the World Eaters thingie/warband

Your work though, is simply incredible and not to praise it would be unfair.

So cudos to you my good sir.

Keep up the awesome work.

Subscribed as I am curious on what you are planning next.

PS All the poses are superb!!!

Thanks a lot, guys - I'm really overwhelmed by the response.

I'm going pretty strong on painting the squad of berzerkers with the lightpost guy, so they'll be finished soon, and the new terminators are coming along nicely as well. I had a buddy of mine come over last night, to paint together. He is the manager of the GW store in Denmark, and told me that I should definately enter the Armies on Parade (deadline 29th of november) - I'm very tempted to do it, since it would give me an excuse to make a nice display board.

Hello GuitaRasmus ,

Just been looking through this thread , and i have to say very well executed. At first i read the title and thought ok this could be something good , I'm so glad that i did this thread is really inspiring and full of great and creative ideas. It certainly want to make me dig out my old box of CSM !

The modelling on the first dread looks amazing and the paint scheme really pulled off the look of the model for me , keep up the great work. Will certainly be subscribing to this thread. Very keen on the idea of a display board , is there anything that you have in mind. I was thinking baybe a chaos warp gate ?

Good job + nice army

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the feedback, it makes me want to do more. The net is fantastic for this sort of stuff, because you can get really inspired. For the display board, I think I'll use the temple of skulls as a centerpiece.

I've taken a few pics of the new terminators, based on the lord kit. It's going to be an expensive squad, but since they should be one of the centerpieces, I think it's worth it. I just wasn't satisfied with the old ones, and especially them not having lightning claws. These are quite a bit bigger than the standard chaos termi, and much more detailed. Also, like I mentioned earlier, I just didn't think that the poses of the old ones were up to par with the rest of the army. So, without further ado, here are the first 3. 2 more to go, which I think I will take in a different direction (weapons and poses)

As you can see, it did take quite a bit of cutting and greenstuffing to get them to charge:

Sounds like a really good idea , can't wait to see the display board coming together. The terminators look good but for some reasong i am never a fan of them can't quite work out why , however with the grey knight heads i think they will come out really good looking , can't wait to see some more painted models

Also you say about using different weapons on the next three. I personally would love to see something like a thunderhammer , maybe or maybe power axe seeing as your good at modelling

Once again good job.

Very nice work GR... love the poses along with the modifications to the figures. That forward positioning of their body weight really conveys action and menace.

Terminators looks great! Only thing I'm wondering about, is it possible to vary the position of the lightningclaws? Maybe poséing one like a chaos powerfist (the one that comes with the standard CSM), or perhaps a shoulder charge?

The terminators are looking excellent GuitaRasmus. The use of the lord is a very good idea keeps them unified as well.

I've been thinking about it, but I kinda like the broadness of the mini the lightning claws in this position gives them.

The head is one of the defiler heads.

Fede Frem-Marines forresten.

Now, THAT's a big statement - there are so many incredibly talented people on here, and I often sit in awe when looking on peoples work. That said, thank you very much.

I've just put the finishing touches on the champion for the terminator squad, and this guy is so characterful that he might just take the place as my Khorne lord. The green stuff is hardening as I write, and it's pitch black here (3.15 in the morning), but I'm so excited about this guy - he might just be the best conversion I've ever done. Pics tomorrow.

And here he is - I'm very proud of this guy, he has all the character and rage I'd expect from a raging exalted champion of Khorne:

I can't decide if the left shoulder pad is too much, or if I should go all the way and make the right one spiky as well? Opinions?

The tube/pipe from the weapon, where do you get those in DK? I've been trying to find some, but so far no luck. (assuming its some kind of metal tube?)

Lovely stuff going on as usual. Feedback on the infantry champion with PF - it looks kind of like his arm's hanging limp, perhaps reposition the shoulder and/or elbow a little so that it looks like he's in control of its weight?

It was just a bunch my dad had lying around (he has an awesome workshop) - but you can buy brass rods in many different diameters in Tutein & Koch, and Model og Hobby.
