TK... Squats were part of the 40k universe long before "Terminators" and "Gundams" were.

Of all the races of the universe the Squats have the longest memories and the shortest tempers. They are uncouth, unpredictably violent, and frequently drunk. Overall, I'm glad they're on our side!

And they still could be updated (like what I did with some of my models) and if done right could fit nicely into the 40k universe, but the fact is they won't come back

Why force Elves, Dark Elves, Orcs, Ogres, and Halflings into the 40K universe? Squats are inherently no more "forced" than any of the other 40K armies. It's a heavily derivative game that is a pastiche of dozens of pop culture references (Taunime, the xenomorphs from the Alien films, Terminator, just to name a few).

The biker dwarves concept of the Squats was poorly done. But GW could have easily redone them at some point. They just chose not to, probably because they couldn't come up with anything original and they didn't feel the sales numbers would make it worthwhile. Honestly, they probably should have just made them a "skin" for the Imperial Guard. I mean, 2nd Edition had like 7 different I-Guard armies (Mordian, Cadian, Catachan, Tallarn, Valhallan, Praetorian, Steel Legion) and they've only added more since.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I guess my real argument is that dwarves are mostly seen as mountain people in fantasy and when you translate that into space it doesn't fit as well. i think the demiurg seem to be the closest embodiment of dwarves in the 40k which seem cool but from rumors they are rock-like. and not human-like as in fantasy. @vetern sergent- yes obviously dark elves, elves, orcs, tomb kings, empire translate into; dark eldar, eldar, orks, necrons, and spacemarines/imperial guard" its just the association of dwarves and mountains where i get lost with them in the 40k universe. its just the history of "dwarves" not just games workshop dwarves

Dwarves are also miners, which is actually where the Squats tie in. Squats were miners on mineral rich, high gravity worlds. Some of those worlds had inhospitable surface conditions so the started living in the mines they dug. Most of their civilization was underground. Some were very elaborate "cities"... though as Gimli put it....."And they call it a Mine...."

I really think instead of killing them off, they should have just folded them into IG. Squat exoarmors and bikers could be their own unit types, the regular squats are just regular guardsmen, and the more heavily armored ones could be a slightly tweeked version of stormtroopers. The IG already fields abhumans, why not?
