Small update folks, look what arrived!!

The trackers are here so now I have all the components of my competitive 250 pts Angmar force! Huzzah!

On the KoM front, I have done a couple of highlights on the Riders and also done the white too, not enough to show though so you'll all have to wait

Automatically Appended Next Post:
As promised here is some pictures of the riders progress:

So where am I up to? I have done the red except one last highlight (left in case I need to tidy up), need to highlight browns, need to wash hair and re-highlight, need to start the skin, bracers need starting and golds burnishing and also wood painting. Going to go with a real pale wood, probably about bleached bone in hue then a wash and re-highlight. Forgot how hard work these guys are!! Batch painting seems horrible now but I will be glad of it when I am done, painting each one individually would have been a nightmare!! Also glad I only have these guys to paint up for me 500pt KoM army (riders wise that is, plenty elsewhere ) !

Here's a close up of a rider, I like this pose a lot

Critique peoples?

Really wanna carry on painting but my bed is calling, hopefully have some more pics up tomorrow with almost finished riders. I shall try my best! Night all

Edit: Almost forgot! I bought a couple of the little LOTR ruins off eBay for ÂŁ1.20 each with that mag you used to get, bargain!! Shall try my hand with scenery soon!

Great looking minis, I wish I could paint like that. You mentioned having all the components for your fully competitve Angmar list, well done, but do you find Angmar lacking in the form of might and always being out heroic moved ect.

Would be great to see you army in a competitve enviroment, I also have an Angmar force but it consists of loads of cheap orcs backed up by wights and spectres, although it is now at around 750points, I would like to expand it to 1k if I get a chance.

Wow! That's really kind, thanks but i am sure you have some painting skill of your own that can make others applaud too!

A good subject. Angmar is, in my opinion, the hardest pure evil army to play (angmar only force). With the fewest options and the hardest combination of heroes to use I have ever seen they are a pain You mention the might situation and your not wrong, the best way to get might on the field for these fellas is to just spam captains, that's it! You can play Bhurdur but only with at least another two trolls to help with incoming fire. The gift that GW has given us that we all overlook as Angmar players is the Dwimmerlaik. His power is quite frankly, brilliant: If within 12" of a enemy hero who uses a might/will/fate, on a 4+ they must expend two or the deed in cancelled and the already committed point is lost. Beautiful! Captains are now null in 50% of cases and even poor Boromir unless he can fight his way to him is severely affected. Think about using him in your force.

I would love to play some competitive SBG but I don't know any tourneys for it except GT

Cheers Sharazad I now do batch painting like you suggested so that's where the speed has come from, it's so much better, you just gotta get the discipline and I really didn't have it!
Here's some more

I have managed to get some more done on these guys, the wood has a basecoat and the browns need a final highlight other than that there is just the skin to go over I think and we are done with them! Just need some bases for the poor horses!

And here he is, almost complete, Eomer, Marshall of the Riddermark!

The red's look awful on these pics but I assure you they are nice and neat and highlighted up to 50/50 orange/red. Just the horse left to do here and the base. Need to highlight the grey coat again and then proceed to the reigns and saddle. A couple of days and I'll be there!!

On the angmar front I have started to go over the tracker and will base and spray them over the next couple of days. Believe it or not I am really quite close to having a fully painted 500pt Good force and a fully painted 250pt Evil Force. Looking forward to the time when I can post pics up of them complete!!

As always, more to come

Evening folks,

So today i thought I would try for the very first time stripping some models. I painted some awful when I was younger but hey gotta start somewhere. So for this I used some Acetone free nail polish remover and sat them in it for 15mins and then went at it with a 99p tooth brush, firm bristle, from Morrisons.

And here's the result!

I think I can say that it was a resounding success look almost new now
Now why high elves you ask? Well, I watched the FotR t'other day and I really really really want ranks of the fella's like in the last alliance they are so cool and organised, the bit with the battle lines meeting is awesome with their smooth martial prowess!! Also I saw some cheap on ebay I now have the following:

Elrond in heavy armour
Glorfindel in armour (conversion coming for him)
Captain in heavy armour (soon to be converted from spear elf)
11 elves in heavy armour w/ sword
12 elves in heavy armour w/ bow
2 elves in heavy armour w/ spear and shield

For those enjoying the Rohan and Minas Tirith, don't worry I will finish what I have started first! Angmar will be an ongoing thing Ah and on the Rohan note, now batch painting 14 models mechrite red is down so now to do some silver and such.

So what you think of my little elf revolution? (Might end up being quite big )

Me too!! Really looking forward to laying down an army of these folks later on I am actually planning on having around 1500pts of these guys to play with for a proper 'Last Alliance' force. Currently trying to get hold of Gil-Galad, a command group and another 50 odd plastic elves and then I want another 12-15 shield'n'spear elves may have finally lost it! Though they are not hard to paint I don't think nor time consuming, I will batch paint in like 30's seen as they are decent to paint. Once my ebay lots arrive I shall begin!! The lot in the photo above are already primed and based ready to begin, may paint one first to test a scheme though it will be the classic blue/gold, I want to get it right first

Fair enough I'll have them up later, hopefully with base silver done too

How did the acetone free work, I thought it might of melted the plastics and lost the detail. Now I know it works I'll be using some for sure and getting some of my minis painted, you really do inspire people to get up off their arse and paint.

I think it does if you leave it in for too long, I could feel the plastic weaken when I took it out the acetone free, but seemed fine after a wash down with water and left to sit for quarter of a hour Cheers man, I try my best and really it's just paid in kind seen as all you guys support spurs me on to paint more and more! I hope we keep this cycle going

On an elven front, got a delivery today or Elrond and 20 elves!! They are gathering!

A small update for you folks,

I have got round to painting the test scheme for my elves, they are pretty much the original scheme but I wanted them that way, it suites them down to the ground
Here he is:

The pics are a little dark so I will try to have more on later. I think he turned out really well, I'm pretty happy with him. Tried to weather the bottom of the cloak to make it look a tad dusty too.
Paints wise, the new Kantor Blue base coat from GW is awesome to be honest, can't say I enjoy paying for it with the price tag but who does? I worked that up to enchanted blue. Also invested in my first Vajello Model Colour paint - Basic Skintone. Got to say I am impressed at the quality of the paint and the dropper system, I think I will head their way in the future for new armies perhaps.....

In regards to the model missing a hand, he is to become a captain so I will be giving him some form of glaive when I can.

Cheers for looking and C&C is always welcome

The blue looks great, I dont think there are may paint schemes that suit the elves very well. When I get round to doing mine im going to do them in a purple colour.

Also I think vajello are the best paints anyone can use, they are affordable and go a really long way when doing batches of minis. I dont think ill be using the new Gw paints they seem to aimed towards having to buy more and more due to the layering.

I could be wrong though, we will have to see.

Cant wait to see your finished army.

Depends on how thick you use the paint, and which colours you use ofcourse. But they are based on the three colour paint
scheme thing (base, ink, highlight). My problem tends to be that the jars are so ridiculously small (but then again, I'm just not
used to miniature painting yet).
I do like a lot of the colours, but sometimes it's hard to pick which colour you want exactly. But concerning base coverage they
, at least for me, work really well.

Thank you very much No there ain't and I love them in the first movie so for once I stuck to the original scheme.
Aye, usually I do use GW but thee skintone I got is very pale yet the coverage is fantastic, you won't get that with GW! unless they brought out a base I haven't seen that is.
Well hopefully I won't take too long!

I hear you, the bloody things mean I have lost many a pot of wash and i's extra painful when it's badab black!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

On the hobby front, I had a very, very productive afternoon yesterday! I'm at my accounting course at the moment () so no pics but will have them up later. Taken to batch painting Elrond, 11 glaive elves and 2 spearmen and their shields. Got the basic blue, gold + wash, base brown, base silver and base flesh done. In theory I don't have a lot left to do, a few highlights to do and maybe a wash or two and they will be done. That will be HALF the elves I have so far done Elrond does have a little more to do but he's at the same stage as the rest (green and red bits to do).

In other news I am meant to be seeing Robbie tonight and we want to play a game, THAT MEANS A BATTLE REPORT!!! Probably about 500pts, so watch this space
