Probably 500pts worth of orks to start out, get myself comfortable with the army. Mostly boyz, and a big mek with a kustom force field, trukks for everyone.

That sounds like your average bike army at that point value. Later on consider adding Wazdakka.

That sounds like a good start, as you can always turn back... but yoo aint weedy like dat to turn away from da guddest army evver!

(It wouldn't be a bike list as it aint got any, his 500point list will be trukkers)

Fast orks can also be easily transformed into horde orks if you need, though its slightly harder to turn into kan wall orks.

Really. There are only a few warhammer armies I dislike.

For me, it is armies I like to look at, armies I like to the point that I play them (orkz), and armies that are for modelling purposes only.(in my case).

Well, I don't hate EVERY army, but theres quite a few I don't care for at all.

The only armies I don't really care for (gaming wise) are dark eldar, necron and tyranids.

I dislike Sisters, Imperial Guard, Daemons and Dark Eldar in 40k, but it's really fantasy where I dislike a lot of the races

I forgot about sisters, yeah, I dislike sisters if battle. Guard I love, but that's probably just because of how great some of the books and background are of them as well as me liking their rules.
In fantasy, I hate ogre kingdoms, chaos warriors, beastmen and possibly other armies I forgot.

Background wise, Guard are great! But board wise, ehhh...

The only armies I like in fantasy are VC, HE, Brets, Empire, and WOC. Everything else is kinda bleh to me

The only reason I like skaven is for their expandability, though they kind of wrecked it with the new rules, not being able to shoot through your own units.

dont forget that with the warboss your unit of nobs can be taken as troops!!!!!!!

Orks probably are the best army for 500 points.

I don't find orks as addictive, because once you get a solid core of boyz, you tend to not need much more than the specialist units that take your fancy.

Unlike SM, where your killing power comes mainly from special units. Like my BA army, which is almost has 1000pts done!

Or eldar, where you quite iften build an army around different aspects, such as howlign banshees or a ranger base, etc. (and yes I know rangers aren't an aspect)

Very true with Eldar, considering it's a specialist army.

Not sure about nid, necron and dark eldar armies though.

Nids are horde, Necrons are heavy hitters, and Dark Eldar are hit and run

Yeah, but I'm not sure how many different kinds of armies you can amke otu of them if you get just a mass of one unit you can have a solid basis for multiple armies from the same codex.

I have no clue either. Probably a few variants at best.

Well the only troops I'm aware of for necrons are warriors and immortals, dark eldar Iv'e had very little first hand experience against, only watching the games fo others and nids probably do have a few different variants of monstrous creatures , swarm, large amounts of warriors, genestealers waves, etc.
