I wonder if that's the release date or the pre-order date.

The Tick: Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. If you're going by the 'leaked' rulebook from a few months back, it's been pretty much confirmed that 6th won't actually look much like that.

Well, I updated the tracking thread. If it ends up being the pre-order instead of release, I'll have to update it again. A lot of people got a lot of falses for a release dates today.

Boo.... I bet you're right, this is probably the advance order date / day they fess up that 6th ed actually exists and put out info on it. Drat... and that means that the OP's rumor may be right, or it could be June 30. How long are advance orders up before general release, usually?

That thread was about the 'leaked' rulebook.

Towards the end of the leak hysteria, it was pretty much confirmed that the leaked book was at best a 'wishlist' version put together by the studio in the early development phase, and not at all representative of the end product.

I would very, very much doubt that 6th ed will see a change to the turn order, a change to the statline, or any larger changes to the game than we saw in the transition from 3rd to 4th, or 4th to 5th.

Deadshot, that thread is really old (or at least, from earlier this year) and got debunked, and just was threadnomanced.

So, 23rd looks to be advance order date, not release date, right?

Phew.

Not really. I like the game the way it is. Wound allocation.isn't as bad as people say and the only bad thing is vehicle spam. GK are.not that powerful as people say. I think only Purifiers are bad, as you get them and Razorspam at the same time.

I would think so... otherwise advance orders would be starting in the next few days, without White Dwarf support.

Which would, incidentally, put the release date pretty close to July 7...

There are stores in the UK that are accepting pre-orders for 6th, though they are not official pre-orders. Maybe their store owners know something we don't?

6th edition lands on June 23rd!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

It will probably be several months before anyone knows 6th edition came out as GW has effectively neutralized any kind of product anticipation to begin with. Even poor Jervis in WD will still be giving tips about 5th edition before someone in the September edition tips him off that 6th rolled out three months prior.

Sweet, if this is actually released on the 30th, it's the day before my 30th birthday!

Out of curiosity, how does shipping work for GW pre-orders? Do they deliver on or before release day, or would I be getting the book the following week even with express shipping? I only ask cause I've had issues with FLGS pre-orders in the past and there is not an actual GW store in my city.

They used to ship for delivery by the release date, which often meant getting it a little early.

With their new 'All is must be secret, Komrade!' policy, Advance Orders ship on the release date. So your 'reward' for placing an advance order is to receive the product a week or two after everyone who just walks into a store on release day.

23rd June is also official release date of the WD, so it's the official announcement day usually including preorders. Slight possibility that preorder time is 2 weeks like with paints, but chances are, release date is indeed 30th June as BramGaunt said.

Question is now, can you hold onto that money for a week or two till the release? I was thinking the release was the 23rd, but now after reading a few posts, is this just the pre-order date, or just the anouncement date?

GK, Imp, BA vs...uhm...DE?

What's your question?

I guess that it's up to personal opinion, but imo, overall, non-Xenos tend to get better codexes.

/e: And yes, I do know that GK were worse. Then again, Necrons get a new codex that's relatively balanced. When GK got their new codex back then...well, it's obvious.

This pretty much. Right now Space Marines, Silver Space Marines, and Red Space Marines are the best in the game followed by Imperial Guard and Light Blue Space Marines. Dark Eldar/Necrons are competitive at least.

Yes, it's possible to beat Grey Knights with Tyranids, But there's a natural handicap built in that all non-Imperial players have to deal with, and that's the big balance issue.

GW rules can be tweaked though, I'm most concerned as to what the fluff will be as I've always put the lore above the game. Considering what GW's been doing with it lately (GW and Necron dexes were both fluff abortions), I am not optimistic.

My Armies:
5,500pts
2,700pts
2,000pts

Bah, ok, I thought it was some such nonsense. I typically prefer buying locally when I can, but the closest shop is more of a comic shop, and couldn't tell you much about the difference between WHFB and 40k, aside from the fact that they both exist and they probably have them for sale in their store. From past pre-orders there, I was a little unsure they actually knew what they were supposed to order, which isn't exactly assuring. I'll just head to the big store in town, just a bit further of a drive.

So enough rambling about my troubles... hooray for 6th edition! Fingers crossed for some new version of Kill Team! Chances are low on that, but an old vet can dream.

Don't count orks out. They can excel against many of the armies you have listed if they have a well built list,

Anyway, LMAO when I saw that they called it a 'teaser' trailer. They pretty much spelt it out for us!
I just hope they won't change too much, just the stuff that obviously needs changing. Lvls on special rules would bug me out so much.
