Giving the orks some loving today. So many projects need doing, near zero troops painted would like to have a decent army together.

Carried on with the big track as it’s got so much potential, still a lot to do including rivets.





I also dug our all my troops and found about 40 boys with cc weapons I can get on with. Most need base coating but a few where already white washed so I’ve cracked on with just a few. Also my 1st bike and a few copters in the base coating list.

@Gitz - Thanks, It is a bit different. I'm planning on making the smaller orks brighter and the bigger, older ones darker. Like old leather.

Hears the finished boyz, 7 more to add to the completed pile. This brings me to about 20 so far. Gone with a more muted, battered and rusty look (which sped up the painting process).

That old school plastic ork in the front makes me smile. Like your ideas on the aging of the skin. Very appropriate.

At first i thought i'd find khorne boyz here.
INstead i found red orks, not disapointed though well done.

The Red Waaaagh continues...you can never have enough Orks.

One suggestion on the really old mono-pose ones with axes and sluggas was a head swap or a weapon swap with all the extra pieces that comes with the new Ork sprues...it will help make them disappear into the horde.

I did the same thing with the mono-pose Gretchen from the same box set...although they are a little harder as you have to cut the heads off to make some variations, mixed in with the new ones and they do not stand out as 3rd Edition figures.


Not as easy as the Orks where you can even saw off an arm as there are so many spares in the Ork box.

Forward the horde.

Like those objective markers.

@captin brown - Very nice work, the different heads really take away that mono pose look. Surely you could do something with those old guns? Add or swap bits from some Shootas maybe? Got a few that I might have a go with and post the results. I had a brief go at remodelling one of the monopole boyz a while back with some success and I’ve bougt a boyz box so when that arrives I’ll have a go.

The painting warrgh continues...(tm to captain brown).

Some more boyz done, really not putting much effort into it now, just want them done. Got like 30 boyz painted up now and another 30 on the way, and going to make some kamandos.

They're looking pretty cohesive on the tabletop, always a nice effect even if, as you say, you're not spending ages getting each model painted to high quality.

@commissarkhaine - Thanks mate, I’m really going for just having a tabletop ready army instead of a pile of unpainted and half made models. Who really looks closely at a boys mob anyway.

@CB - can’t be sterling motors with no credit now. Yep always another squad to do.

So this is the last lot of boyz all finished and a few models which needed the bases finishing. Looking good all together.



So this is most of my 1st 30 boyz squad, up next is another and this time I’m going to try and mix up all the 10 or so single pose models.

I think your definition of "most" is different than mine (I count 14 of 30).

You got me. It’s a fair cop gov.

Counting like an ork I see . And panting for tabletop effect works, I did my guard that way, learned a lot from it.

I approve of anything involving red orks and good to see the horde growing!

I really like the objective markers - little details like that are what gets me excited about this hobby. The vehicles are great too 8-)

So little bit of progress I’ve messed around with some of the old mono pose boyz meaning I’ve gotten t another 30 boyz ready to prime and then paint.

Looking good, nice to see the variation with the old mono-pose Orks. If you need more shootas and arms just let me know, because like the one in the center, once they get new arms they fit right in with the current Orks.

Agreed, especially of you wqnt to get it battle-ready. Also, detailing is easy to add later on once there's time for it, just focus on neatness and effect and you'll be golden!

Loving that you're not keeping all the monopose boys identical btw.
