Necromunda Cawdor Gangers

This is the gang set of eight figs. I don't play Necromunda but someone offered them cheap during a store auction at my FLGS in Killeen, TX so I picked them up. They have collected dust for the last seven years so Ifalna is doing a great service by finally getting them painted.

Now if I could just refrain from buying new figs faster than she is painting my old ones.

looks like you are in store for some great models! if i didnt like painting so much i would get Iff to paint something, but im probibly going to come up with something all nice for her to paint as a display peice, just so i can have one painted by her... probibly going to need to buy one of Hits_the_Spot's models off his site too for the same reasons

@Rogue Wolves, pick about three character quality models for her to do. I think if you pick interesting ones that give her opportunities to experiment with colors or techniques that she hasn't used on recent previous commissions, you will get much more than your money's worth.

I like to paint too but I don't have time right now and I'm clearly losing the fight as the unpainted parts of my collection expand. Iffy paints far better than I do anyway so this was a good chance to get a lot of interesting odds and ends painted.

Gross? Yes, I think that will be true. Not sure what Iffy is painting today but she mentioned "mega creativity mind sploshion. Many painting will today. MANY PAINTING."

Cryptic? Perhaps, but it is either very promising or that bottle of champagne she found yesterday is empty now.

Good point, Dysartes!! I had not considered that both conditions might occur simultaneously. Though I would think that champagne would be a lousy thing to drink while painting. Bubbly just doesn't seem right when creating art. It just doesn't have enough soul or depth.

But perhaps the spare toilet is a storeroom for soul and depth that Iffy has been siphoning from the surounding land. The champers was then placed in there to absorb this soul and depth.

Or it's possible that Iffy herself has so much soul and depth that it matters not a whit which form of alcohol she imbibes - it's her secret super power.

We are entering the realm of Philosopy where I often fear to tread. I like it much from a distance but up close it makes my tummy rumble.

Can you base them like you did the Inquisitors? I think I am going to adopt that style instead of my mechrite red scheme. I just need to learn how to use this black ink. How do you clean up your brushes after you apply the ink?

Haha they certainly aren't beautiful, they are actually rather repugnant but thats the point! I can indeed base these the same, should look super nice actually!
Most inks come off easy enough in just water, as long as you don't let them dry on the brush. The Masters Brushcleaner will remove anything left over, I've never had any issues cleaning up a brush once done

Our spare toilet is solely for cat litter box and booze storage it would seem.. very worrying. Then again this "house" does have 3 toilets and 1 bedroom.. so.. em.. I guess we had to get creative to find uses for them.

Dawww, no seriously it means so much to me that people actually want to have a little metal man I painted. It's not pride, it's something else. Just plain makes me happy I guess! I used to love including mini's other people painted for me into my oldschool armies back when I used to play, in a way I kind of miss it, but in another way I don't. I don't miss how sometimes the atmosphere in a game room could turn really off putting (there are sadly some creeps in this hobby that ruin it for everyone), but I do miss the days when things would stay awesome and I could hang out with friends and play magic inbetween games and have a really fun time.

I'm thinking of joining a club in Galway once I move, even if its just to paint socially.

I just did a google search and agree. There is something very clean about their sculpts that just doesn't feel right for Nurgy :(

Yes! This is my secret weakness, feel free to exploit it! A couple of character standard mini's with varied schemes means I will without realising end up spending a little extra time per mini because I am experimenting a bit, and that tends to lead to them having extra little details that turn out nice, like the Book on the red Inquisitor. I also learn more from it so it is a huge bonus for me too!

I have consumed not a drop, that is being kept for later! Today will be ginger beer and whiskey later, for now I am finishing up housework. Get it out of the way and I have the whole end of the day to paint, just how I like it!

I agree bubbly would not be the most matching tipple you could drink while painting Nurgle models.
If you were however drinking it from a gilded skull and painting by candlelight, it would probably do the trick. I dislike champagne anyway though, unless mixed with orange juice. Mmm.

I have the soul and depth of a faux fur neon pink pillow. I think I just absorb equal amount of win from any form of alcohol due to my inherited National superpowers.

Getting a basic idea to go on can be awesome to help with inspiration, "I really like dark blues and gold" for instance gives me an awesome start, and I can build on it from there

Really loved painting on the blood and spots and goo, it isint that noticeable till you check them up close but I think it does add an overall effect to them



Sorry I didn't update them yesterday, they were all done bar the bases so I decided to just wait and get them all finished! They just need a lick of satin varnish now and all done, completo!
@JB do you want me to do the other 3 with this base? I can just repaint it no problem if you like.

I would appreciate it if you can rebase the first three. I think your basing scheme is going to become my standard since I'm going with a broken blacktop ruined city for my gaming table. Can I use Fountain Pen ink or does it need to be some other variety?

We can also discuss the next batch of figs though I think I may send you a bit different set than originally planned. Something more interesting than a squad of Battle Psykers. Sure thing! I will get that done for you and everyone boxed up today.
I am pretty sure any black ink will do, what I am using is the old GW stuff which appears to just be basic art ink/drawing ink. You can get big bottles of that in art stores for a few euro and it lasts aaaagess as you use so little. Just make sure not to spill it.. because ouch. Also keep in mind that if you are priming mini's black anyway, then just base them first and use black primer on the sand instead. Saves a bit of time!

I will PM you with money details and whatnot, I can weigh the package and get a good estimate from An Posts webpage, one of the few good services they offer ¬_¬

Yes that is rule 34, perhaps the most true of all the rules. I was looking at those bumps as just bumps in the leather but there is another dude with them and they are definitely rivets.. hmm. I will paint them all as little rivets I think, thanks for pointing it out! The stuff that escapes me sometimes.. /embarrassed :(

I googled Ifalan to see if it would give me anything funny to use, but it auto redirected to Ifalna and the image search is impressive.

How does google decide what image is more relevant? Why is a half painted goblin higher on the listing than much older more popular minis? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS MAGIC.

I also like that if you google Ifalna, me drinking booze, a picture of a giant burger I made, and Bob Mortimer are on page 3. I feel this is the first step to becoming internet famous.

Whoops, my bad. Sorry there Ifalna. It is delicious indeed and at only 8.5% alchohol percentage by far not the strongest beer we Belgians serve.
