Definitely agree ... those books were really cool, think probably Earth Hive was my favourite, and the one where the crazy general tries to control the aliens (even going as far as having numbers painted on them!)
RiTides wrote:Agree to disagree on the awesomeness that is the PredAlien, Pacific
Haha yes fair enough - I will say though that I do think it looks quite cool, it's just I don't like the concept behind it. And yes, obviously I need more important things to be concerned about

A legit photo/game shot of a model's source, or a render.
I asked about it, but it got promptly ignored in favour of other stuff.
Not ignored Brook, just missed
'as this is an unlockable extra and we are on KS we have started working on this when it became apparent it would likely happen (so over the WE). As soon as the render is approved we will share it and at that moment it will go into production (so we will be able to show the actual Model hopefully before the end of the KS). Remember KS is to back a project. In this case firstly to allow the deluxe version of the game to be produce and secondly to accelerate the timeline of production to produce other products that wouldn't see the light of day otherwise to the very earliest 12-24 months from now (this and all the other unlocks).'
Quick question, are you doing the Aliens xenomorph warrior, or the AVPR warrior?
This question is the biggest one for me at the moment. Please answer, Prodos! (I'm guessing the pic posted when the goal was met was an action figure shot too, but as it's an AvP:R warrior, no-one's sure what's happening)

I second loving Colonial marines, I just wish they'd do a series of 3 films focused on a squad of marines, boot camp, missions etc or is that just me who'd be giddy for that?
Also throw in W-Y mercs as a faction, and if they look like the ones in colonial marines I'll be so hyper.
I have not played Colonial Marines, but I took a gander on the Internets to see what the hubbub was about for the Weyland-Yutani PMCs.
Found this bit of concept art and have to say...yes.

Not to burst any bubbles, but only design one and four were actually used. Two as well, not sure, but number three, nope. You mostly come across number one throughout the game though..

I picked it up and can see why it got the negative reviews it has.... I wish I could get my 4.00 back . I do wonder if Prodos will make characters from the game and books.

About the dreads - here is a piece on the design by Stan Winston...
Inspiration for the Predator design came from a piece of artwork in Joel Silver's office, a painting of a Rastafarian warrior. "I saw that and I thought it was a great starting concept for the Predator," Winston said. "I stared drawing and designing this alien character with quills that in silhouette would look like dreadlocks. During this same period of time, Aliens had come out, and Jim Cameron and I were flying to Japan to participate in a symposium about the movie. We were sitting next to each other on the plane, and I was sketching and drawing the Predator. Jim suddenly said, 'You know, I've always wanted to see something with mandibles.' And I said, 'Hmmm, that's an interesting idea.' And I stared drawing the now-famous mandibles of the Predator. So, between the Rastafarian painting in Joel Silver's office and the mandible idea from Jim Cameron, I came up with 'Stan Winston's Predator'. And I take complete credit for it, even though I had nothing to do with it, obviously!"
I've always seen the Predator as a humanoid crab basically. Given the general look and paintscheme and smaller quills on the face and body. The quills/dreads attach to sockets in the head that look pretty much like the sockets for the crabs appendages...
Apparantly the "voice" of the predator is the result of the actor thinking the Predator looked like a Horseshoe crab that makes clicking/gurgling sounds when on their back...

The Berserker Predator is part of the "super predators". Taken from Xenopedia The Super Predators are a sub-species of the Yautja(predators) race. They are essentially a larger, stronger version of the Jungle Hunter Predators.

They seem to value honour less, they don't have much qualms about using heavier equipment, killing immobilized prey and just straight-up kidnapping people for their game preserves. It's also implied that they're trying to improve their techniques, possibly for an invasion.
And yes, I think that's the point with the Predalien - that they went with what looks cool, rather than what makes sense. Because having it like that makes it seem as though the Predators dreadlocks are just part of its biology, rather than its own ornamentation. Which, IMO just makes the Predator that much less cool and characterful!
Michael Seigler wrote:You know, I have to wonder exactly what the deal is with the licensing of this game. The AVP license has been quiet for a couple of years now, with very little being released, and then within a few days of each other, Dark Horse announced four new comic series set within the continuity, Upper Deck announced their Alien Deck-building game, and we got our first teaser image of this.
He was speculating just that someone at Fox was looking for a promotion, but maybe as BrookM pointed out they're just gearing up for the AvP 25th anniversary?
BrookM wrote: I did some digging and I think it's an anniversary thing, as the Alien versus Predator franchise was kicked off in 1989, which will turn 25 next year.
I think that's much more likely, personally! And awesome as it's an opportunity for things like this miniatures range / game to happen

I meant the dreadlocks on the back of the head, in the sense that the Predator has chosen to plait its hair, rather than it being like it naturally ... Guessing that the Predator would have a mullet if it were natural?
Anyway.. that line of discussion is starting to drag even for me now, don't want to force it on anyone else anymore!
.. Am actually tempted to pick up Colonial Marines, just for some of the crazy sounding plot-developments I've read about if nothing else. And those Weyland Yutani soldiers look awesome..
The game is a wreck, but it certainly has its moments, especially some of the level design is well done, as you get to revisit the movie sets in some detail, which is good fun.

Also just noticed (I'm a bit slow i'm sure) the addons coming out in order look to be (Going by their icons)

How do you figure they are plaited? Unless the word means something I am not familiar with I made a post about the actual design idea behind it from Stan Winston himself a few posts up. They are meant to be quills.

@Duce. The Weyland stretch goals are apparently for game upgraded rather then Weyland themed figures which is a shame, that said I think the game could do with a gameplay addon of some sort even if just a couple of extra tiles, terrain doors / crates and a PDF mission book making use of all the extra minis.

Unfortunately not and Protus haven't been responding to any questions regarding the design, quality, material, etc but hopefully they release more info before the end of the campaign.

Colonial Berzerker strike team are fom Aliens: Berzerker comic series which ran for 4 issues. They hunt down alien hives. It consists of a 5 man strike team of marines. One is a medic who monitors and controls the exosuit berzerker, one is a "pathfinder" who allows himself to be taken to the hive to be enpregnated. His armour contains a homing beacon for the Berzerker exosuit, which also cuts out the berzerkers weapons if within a few feet so he doesn't get killed when the berzerker destroys the hive.
