My group quit 40K about a year ago, fed up with the endless rules, codices and supplements. A few weeks ago we tried OPRs Grimdark Future and really enjoyed it so now I am embarking on rebuilding all the armies I ebayed or just gave away less than 12 months ago. Today was retrieving second hand gretchin from the Dettol and de-gunking with a toothbrush. Fun and games!

Does scoping out local game stores to see who / what is being played while buying the least I can physically count as Hobbying?

Had the first kids' miniature game club of the year, then did a bit more work on my scouts when I got home afterwards.

Good for you!
Now that you are not constrained to GW models, I recommend giving other manufacturers a look.
There's good stuff out there, whether you're after amazing sculpts, value for money or something in between.

I'm building Mantic zombies.
They're the last, but most numerous, type to build for my undead army.
Painting to follow once the weather is favourable for spray primer.

Built a 2nd mortar & 2nd MMG for my Bolt action Germans.

Then I built the torso & head for another Cerastus Knight Lancer. Arms to follow tomorrow & a basecoat on Fri.

Did the shadows of the armour of five of my scouts. I hope to get them finished for next week's game day.

Done building my Psychophage, and I went to the airbrush to have it primed, along 5 Hive Guards that were long overdue (converted from metal 2nd ed. warriors, have been done years ago back in 8th!)!

Also glued the sand on most model bases that needed it still, ready for priming too (hopefully done thus week/weekend). One Neurotyrant, three Stone Crusher Carnifexes, one Norn Emissary and Old One Eye!

Painting Knights mostly. Want to try and get them all done so I can start eliminating boxes in my pile. I have a bunch of Knights and I hate painting horses so hopefully I can just get them done so I never have to do it again.

Also I have way more Knights than I thought.

Finding a store in Melbourne (Metro Hobbies) that has SOME Army Painter paints (they were missing about 1/3 of them) and getting some of their Fanatic fluro paints so I can finally paint some Battlemechs that glow (in the dark) from heat.

Finished the mud and tufts on my Swelling, the Blind Gourdian

Contemplating making my Combat Patrol Marines into Alpha Legion in disguise and making some of their paint scheme and symbolism show through.

Just trying to grasp how to do that successfully.

Wrapping these up, but I fixed the face after I saw what the picture looked like.

Repurposing a pretty lame looking catachan sergeant into a badass mini-straken.

Building an AoS Kharodon dwarf Ironclad - for use in an upcoming D&D game.

It's been in the backlog for a few years now. Once upon a time I'd toyed with the idea of running the army. Then, before investing any further changed my mind.
Recently I saw a great opportunity to work it into our D&D game. And so....

I'm actively trying to match GW paint colors to a picture I got off the internet.

This week, i'm racing through US soldiers for Bolt action. May finish by the end of the week and I may or may not be finished with the infantry, will be able to soon enough jump onwards to team based weapons.

Working on 11 Tomb Kings chariots. Today is base day. Once the bases are painted and flocked as the horses are done, then I'll do the chariot chassis and glue them on. Finally the crew are last, with one left empty for my Tomb King model.

This past weekend I was pretty focused on building to reduce the sprues of shame.

I wrote a 903 word background for my personal Imperial Knights House.

Now all I need is a victi---I mean volunteer to read it, and see how it sounds.

It's warm enough today that I can get a basecoat on a bunch of recently built stuff.
So after lunch....
Wether I do that outside or on the back porch will depend upon the breeze.

Both of these sets are Siocast from Titan Forge.
All of these models have gnarly mold lines, filled in undercuts, and 3dprint artifacts cast into them.
There are Dimples on the bottom of the Mummy, and there are nibs from supports all over them.
Again, these are cast. They didn't bother to clean up the "Masters".
At $40 each for 10 models and a sheet of mdf tokens, I am not impressed.
