And DAMN that needle is small .3 mm !!
You could seriously paint miniatures with a dot that small!

My uncle made this mold for me, he uses cheap DIY silicone rubber from a caulking tube, so that is probably why some of the brickwok detail has been lost, but it is my first creation ever reproduced, so I'm pretty fond of it

hey that with a few touch ups could work perfectly for 40k, if in the future you make some interesting molds ^like such, id be interested in buying some

Thanks man, but it is really too small for 40k, think closer to Hot Wheels or Matchbox car scale, 1/72=20mm (roughly- there is some play, just like 40k scale=28mm (roughly))

ahhh, dont know why i didnt compare it to the other building cast that is right next to it but still i like it

Thanks man, but sadly the master was damaged/destroyed when he pulled it out of the mold. Don't worry, I'll have plenty for ya bro!

2 pours down, a third inna oven

When we cast a lot of Hirst molds for my buddy in plaster of Paris we set up a drying rack next to the basement dehumidifier and kept a sheet tented over the setup To concentrate the effect. we eventually re-purposed someones jerky maker food dehydrator thingy to rack the pieces on. We found that we could demold rather quickly and let the parts finish drying out that way.

ooooh.trip to the goodwill in search of a home bacon-dehydrator might be coming soon!

Also when using plaster and Open molds like this the Hirst site recommends using a big vibrator.

I hate to say it but you have set yourself a challenge that you must at least try and you have only yourself to blame

You could just make a flat back section stick all the pieces together only using fronts and maybe a small edge either end and some kind of support to hold it at the back, you could even put some floors in as well that way it could be partially useable

well no one would have expected a 100% job out of the hat for the first time...but for the first try this looks really good... could you give it a lil wash so that we could better see how much was lost? or if it is still usable as a ruin? i mean it looks like it has seen quite some battledamage...so instanbt weathering oprtions!

The third pouring got a little too thick, I must've gotten over-confident and rushed the measuring. This ain't like cooking food, you have to measure the stuff precisely in a 2:1 permastone:water mix. Galorn's wall came out great, but my 20mm cast broke in several spots, because I didn't have enough to fil lall the voids.

Meh live and learn, it can always be used as rubble or destroyed sections. I won't be using the 20mm casts anytime soon, it just worked out best to mix up enough for both molds at a time. 2/3 cup permastone:1/3 cup cold water.

LDD, I don't believe they do ship to the UK unfortunately, but surely there has to be a similar supplier that does?
