It looks like the upper part of his scabbard is actually being covered by his cloak, and it's just slung in a weird way period.

Gotta say the pic of the happy groom and not so happy bride is the best. Looks alot like me and my wife.

He is the manliest of elves that is not where he keeps the blade but where he keeps his "sword".

Now that the announcement has been made and the thread has been reduced to pages of statements of disappointment and nitpicking over the two new miniatures, can this topic please be put out of our misery?

My prediction was close. I thought it would be unveiling of the new High Elves models. I guess it was only one High Elf model.

If anyone is seriously complaining about no new tidbits about the upcoming High Elf kits then they just didn't look hard enough.

Nice find! Looks like a big Dragon Princes sprue and two each of command and troop White Lions sprues which is a bit odd for a black box.

On the big announcement: I like both miniatures. I also like that GW does a Fantasy worldwide campaign like in old days. Keeps the interest in Fantasy for the beginners.

BTW, it WAS a big announcement by GW standards Space Hulk only got a one day campaign: "Hi, today we release Space Hulk. When you read this it is probably already sold out. Naanaananaanaaaa!"

Good find on that Black Box of Elves. I don't see a direct link to that page on the GW US home page, which might explain why nearly everyone missed it.

It isn't for purchase yet, you can only get previews at your stores which is probably why they haven't revealed them until painted.

Most forum users read rumors threads for news and rumors. When there is none then two things usually happen. One is that a bunch of useless comments with no information get posted (such as the example above) and second, the MODS close them down.

Now that there is some actual news about the new High Elf minis, perhaps we can get back to that. Considering the number of one-man stores there are in Europe and the US now and that those stores are closed a couple days per week, many people will have to wait till Wednesday at the earliest for a look at the new Black Box.

So...don't buy Greatsword boxes?

In all seriousness, as an Empire player you'll get more than enough Greatswords when you get Empire Battalions.

lolz, "GW, I am disappoint!". I'm still amused you guys thought the "announcement" Monday was going to be anything but what it turned out to be. For once I'd say GW didn't do anything wrong here, you guys all jumped to conclusions and gave your hopes up.

Gah. I was at least hoping to give GW some more money by way of advance ordering some new high elf plastics, but I suppose they don;t want it right now.

Completely agree Sid. Although it wasn't exactly a major announcement it was hyped up to be, it was given a couple of sentences advertisement and that's pretty much it. They didn't fully advertise it because it wasn't that big. Although a good find by Fauntleroy you guys got your own hopes up and shouldn't really be blaming GW IMHO.

I'm unfortunately indifferent to both High Elves and Skaven. Not really interested in horde armies and I had a High Elf army once and sold it because I couldn't get into painting them.

I'll stick to 15 flavors of Chaos. (Beastmen, Warriors for each of the 4 Powers, Daemons for each of the 4 powers, the big 5 CSM Legions in 40K and "Blood Knights" using CSM as heretic Blood Angels)

am i the only one who remembers the good ol' days when the announcement of two news figs wasn't considered a special web event... it was something called "friday" and it happened every 7 days. thread officially unsubscribed due to GW fail.

I was expecting the HE plastics. The two minis are nice. Maybe the plastics will be placed in the store tomorrow. Called my local GW, and they didn't know anything about it. Awesome communication throughout the organization. Just want to see the sprues.
