I cant wait to get to assembly and painting on the final stage of my defiler. Cant wait. Its been so long in the wrks that its really hard to believe that its almost time for primer. Almost.

Still on my list of things to finish are about 60 troops, but since i already have 21 deathgaurd plaguemarines painted, i'm gonna focus on basing and painting 7 bases of nurglings and about 10 more plague bearers. Stay tuned.

So, despite the lack of updates i have actually been at work at stuff. I had to spend a bunch of time looking at the new dex of course. Seems better than the last one but i am not so hot to trot on the new Zoid vehicles and the Hellturkey. Just not stoked on the models, though the rules seem ok. But thats not the point of this thread.

So among other things the second of the two vindicators that i was working on is nearing completion. The camo nets i made are the last thing that i need to apply paint too. They look pretty fair by my opinion. I am still debating if i should paint the barrel of the vinicators, and all ordanance aged brass. Thinking it might just be the ticket.

The Defiler is finally getting some paint. It is taking forever to paint though. i am going to regret this but all the little arrows and stuff on the lower hull are going to be done in aged brass with lots of corrosion. Overall i was not happy with the defiiler, but it is really coming around now with the added colors and paint. Now just to finish the second one.

Did some detail work for the base of my greater demon. the nurgling is GS and a head from my bits box. It was my first effort at producing a nurgling and i feel pretty good about the result. Next step, make a herald of nurgle for my demons army.
The boiling slime around the demons base will be fun to paint. Not sure if i will do just dark green, or a more acid looking color. I guess it will depend on the way that dark green looks. Otherwise i will upgrade to acid green and the darker shade will be my base coat.

Finally I sculpted a new chest piece for a plague marine wearing a dress. Not sure how i like the look of these legs but just one marine in the army with a dress should be fine.

Got a little work done on my defiler. I finished up with the basecoats for the bottom half and then did some dry brushing and washing. The overall feel of the unit is positive. I like how its turning out even though it still smells a little like rotten meat. Has anyone else noted that the citadel washes smell a bit rotten sometimes or is it just me. I included a shot of the base of one of the big tentacles so yall can see how the flesh is coming along. Its about half way done. Cant wait to play with this beast. After i finish my GRE Exam all of my neighbors that play 40k are invited to play in what i will be calling the Neighborhood of Chaos game. THat should be happening around the 17th and i will try to get some pics of the day to post up here.

@Galeprime. Thanks for the props dude. THings are coming along with my defiler. I am a bit nervous about the second defiler that i have to finish work on. Its going to be a handful.

@ Eldartau. Thanks again. That slime was actually really easy to make. Its just super glue dripped on top of wood glue. THe super glue tightens as it drys and creates those ripples in the surface.

I am having a lot of success using treebark as stones and clear sealant as shallow water on those same bases.

@ eldar tau. I am going to have to check out your profile to see some shots of this. The art of basing is often the last art that a gamer developes and i LOVE to see what other people are up too.

@ Ozzy. You know it man. Next time i am in your neck of the woods will likely be around the time that Game X is going on. Have you ever been to that. ITs in LA and the Dakka community is pretty well represented there. Last time i was on the head table with a pretty mellow ultramarines force. Faced Yakface and he stomped a mudhole in me. Still had a great time.

When this one is done i STILL have to finish work on the other defiler that i have sitting around in my too be finished section of my war room at home. It needs crazy work done on the upper "torso"? part. I also need to finish magnetizing and come up with some effective way to make it stand out amongst the others. My goal is for each to be unique, they are afterall very personalized vehicles. I also have those two greater demons and a landraider to finish. But its best if i only work on one at a time or i get scattered and never get anything done.

Your Death guard are looking pretty sweet Noah, when you gonna be down San Luis Obispo way again so we can get a game in?

@ Fango ~ Dave, what up G. Hows things in slo town. I was just thinking about you today. Saw you had some questions about the Parasite of motrex. I have a almost complete model for that if you are interested. As for getting down to slo for a game. I would love too. Right now i am busy with my GRE, tutoring 24 highschool kids and work at Coda.

Those photos are dated and I put them on their to trade them off. I am currently working on redoing my Dark Eldar. I do have a few of the bases done but they are drying right now.

Damn, these minis are... highly disturbing.

I guess that's a good thing for a Death Guard army.

@sennacherib ~ Yeah, I dug out all my old 'Nid stuff. I found about 40 termagants and about 30 or so hormagaunts. 9 warriors, 3 metal ravenors, a zoanthrope (converted from the head of a 2nd edition Zthrope and the body from a 3rd ed Zthrope), an Aliens queen style Tyrant, about 20 or so spore mines, and a dozen or so old school stealers. Still have tons of the rippers for swarms as well. Thinking about making it a playable force....I'm looking at probably getting a Tervigon and a Flyrant kit to start off with, then maybe some hive guard. I have 2 sets of the 3rd ed. Space Hulk stealers too if I need them. I've also got some ideas for some tyranid themed terrain that I may start up a thread on here for. Finally, this might be a good time to break out the Forge World Capillary Towers and Spore Chimney and get some paint on them.

Other than that, I've been working on a Dark Eldar army...have 2000+ points assembled and primed - ready for paint.

I'm loving your Death Guard stuff, as I've been reading the Horus Heresy novels recently and am considering a Pre-Heresy/Heresy Legion force my self....you know, never can keep that gamer ADD under control.

@ Eldar tau ~ Cant wait to see your DE. They intrigue me as a new army that i might be motivated to try. Love to play fast and furious armies. My Ultras army is packed with about a dozen Fast attack choices. Light and fast has always appealed.

@ Lone Lictor ~ Thanks. With the new chaos dex a lot of new armies have cropped up with a chaos flair. Makes for good inspiration i tell ya;.

@ Fango~ Cant wait to see what you have dude. I sold all my nids to a dude in oz. He bought them for 500$ and then paid a whopping 150$ for shipping. He was super happy though. i cant wait to see pics of them at a tourni or some such. Glad you are on here. Its a great way to keep you abreast of all the work i have been doing on this stuff. I am selling off all my armies and getting down to where i only have my Death gaurd. It makes it way easier to stay focused and get stuff done. The ADD gamer can be a problem, thats why i have been focusing so hard on this.

So... Tomorrow or maybe later today i will post some new work. I have been re-working the new plague marine pictured above, pointing. He felt off. The waiste was too tight, and i just didnt feel inspired by him so i tore off the arms and went about re modelling him. Both shoulders are now magnetized and he is currently packing a plasma pistol and a power sword. I also took some plasticard and built up the edges of his shoulder pads so he is a bit bulkier. I'm really happy with the results.

Its funny, powerswords are now actually pretty good for chaos. They were better when they were ap 2 like a fist, but the fact that we MUST accept a challenge make them worth while when you include them. If your foe has a power fist you get to strike first and then hopefully you get to add a notch to your blade. Plasma pistol isnt a bad upgrade either since you can pick your foes special weapons out of the unit pre charge.

@ eldartau ~ I have used a similar technique on rock buttes that i have been making to use for terrain. Nice thing about woodchips, most playgrounds have those and sand for free.

Just a quick update.
I started work on a lord with the black mace. Though he may eventually be just joe plague marine, i needed a model with a mace so i can start feilding the black mace for croud (Ork) control. I am going to give him a banner and put the little tiny shields (not sure what they are called) on his hips to cover the spot where his leg joints and his waiste joints are.

Also attached is a pic of the revamped plague marine that i just finished remodelling. I feel good about the new shoulder pads and the sword plasma pistol combo.

@ Yggdrasil ~ thanks. I am not sure how i like the mace but it will have to do. i am ordering a bunch of magnets so i will be able to magnetize it and then replace it if i dont like it.

What do you all think. The mace, does it need to be modified or is it ok as is. I actually like the way tha it looks but i have a few other options in mind for ways to alter it.

Is the mace Nurgly enough? I do not feel so but if it works for you then go for it. I like the redone plague marine. It has a lot of character!

nice sculpting as always. Keep the mace simple i say, nurgle doesnt grow puss on every square inch of everything. Maybe add a big spike on top of it.

You should do a tutorial on how you did those rottin' intestines.

Just a quick update. I have mostly finished assembly of the DG captain. I magnetized him and gave him interchangable arms.

Thanks eldartau1987. I was so rushed when i posted those. The flamer is the burning brand of skarfax (sp?) That artifact is pretty awesome, especially against tightly packed sterngaurd as i found out in my last battle.

Nice. I need to play against more chaos!
