Yeah sound idea B and thats the benefit of playing with friends, I only have one other mate into gaming but he's not interested in Necromunda, so I'll have to see if this chap is up for a more relaxed approach to the game, I'm sure he will be...and I need to brush up on how to actually play again

MaxMini LDD...you get like a 6 pack of 'mutations' but I only liked the octopus-esque tentacles, the other bits are a bit meh, may use them in the future but they went straight in the bitz box for now...bit of a waste of money but I wasn't sure I could sculpt them as well so had to buy 'em.

@Rogue haha cheers mate. I was going for a hint of Davey Jones from POTC2, what do you think?

The "tentacles" mutation is often over looked but in the right situation can be really, really useful. It helps with falling rolls but more importantly it lowers an opponts Attack by one and this guy is armed with a flail so he can't be parried either. I made him with the mind-set to do over any flash CC geared gangers I might face...the old chainsword and pistol combo, who'd normally get 2 attacks and a parry, but against him they'ill only get 1 attack and no parry.

xriccix wrote:played against the gang tonight, got my ass kicked! but some great models and a top bloke

Haha aw Cheers mate!

Well Ricci and I managed to play 2 games last night, great fun, even if we did have our heads in the rules half the time.

First game was a straight up 'gang fight' (where I had a massive advantage in terms of numbers, 16 vs 5!), the second was an 'ambush' scenerio, (I wanted to try splitting my boys up so Ricci could get more of a foothold and take more out of action before my reinforcements arrived, but it didn't end up playing out like that at all).

We used the new rules for the game, which I had been moaning about...but my boys had been geared well, the terrain suited my tatics of pretty much all out CC, and I got really good rolls all night! I actually felt like a bit of an @ss for moaning about them afterwards coz they performed so well (but if we'd been playing out a full campaign may have been a very different story)

Highlights for me were:

1. My mega-fast zombies?! The lowest movement roll I got all night was 5" but most of the time they were belting around the board at like 8/9" on average!

2. Titan, my Scaly, firing his scatter cannon at Ricci's Yeld, who was snippering out of a window of some decaying ruins. Not only did the big brute completely miss but worse still the blast literally bounced straight back off the building wall and hit him full on?! Haha luckily he was only pinned by the flak but he must have felt like a right prize twt!

Def. up for more Necromunda soon mate!

elite scavvies.....I think you're playing them wrong

Yeah this is the complaint with the new rules system PDH, as I'm sure you know...they push them into playing as a 'gang of elites' rather then waves and waves of scum-bags.

However, that said, the only things I lost from my old gang list was one bunderbus guy, due to price changes, the chance of a posible 6 more zombies turning up, and the tox bombs Gargoyle had on him had to be passed over to Lucius Bile instead as they're now "leader only" item.

Pretty much 80% my guys have their 'free' club and an Auto Pistol...So thats 2 attacks in CC, one of those hits at strengh 4, a +2 to hit when firing within 8", no ammo rolls are made in CC and none on a '1' now when shooting coz we used the new rules. If a guy goes 'down' in CC he's automatically OOA when fighting one on one or against multiple opponents, so I made sure to set up every CC so I had at least 2 guys on one so thats an extra attack dice and a +1 combat modifier for the 2nd guy to fight on my side.

Yeah I have too much time on my hands

Sound tactics, but mind you that Necromunda is a game that is so unbalanced that one has to constantly beware of ruining the fun if he thinks too much about effectivity.

I'm not implying you're a power gamer and in danger of ruining the game. (Seems like you both had fun.)

What I'm saying is, that I personally always try to make some less advantageous, more interesting decisions when gearing up or playing, just to make sure the game stays focused on story and character development, rather than competitive gaming. (I know there are whole forums filled with discussions about how everybody should be playing Van Saar and take a million juves, that have 2000 skills after 3 games, but those guys are little pussies who should grow themselves a wiener instead of just trying to prove theirs is the biggest.)

A gang with just autopistols (the best common pistol) all round is something I couldn't square with my conscience. Sure it's effective, but how likely is it that the boss grabbed a whole box of autopistols. Wouldn't it be cooler to have an old rusty stub gun with dum dums on a guy? Could be an heirloom of the ganger's family, so give it a name and gak.

Maybe it's only me, but that's what I play rpg-style games for, to immerge into the hive or whatever other setting.
Again, no offence, I'm not judging your playstyle, how could I, it just seemed to me like you could put a little more flavour into your bunch of misfits.

Baiyuan wrote:I'm not implying you're a power gamer and in danger of ruining the game.

No I think you're right Baiyuan, and I now understand what PDH ment.

I've gone about playing them all the wrong way...my competative side did all the thinking about their load-outs and thats exactly what I was doing without even being aware of it.

I felt Ricci wasn't having as much fun as me and I tried to re-dress the balance on our second game but the scenerio ended up with all of my gang (my too powerful gang) in just one structure which was really, really tough to storm and then I sent a huge wave of about 9 guys out and finished off his straggerlers.

I'm gonna have a re-look at my roster later and add more 'character' weapons back in there, even if they aren't the best choice...cheers for the comment Baiyuan, you've opened my eyes

Yeah, I get that all the time, people say I'm a real eye-opener... just kidding.

I'm glad I could sway you from the evil ways of the power gamer. To be honest, I'm a power gamer at heart too and I have to make an effort every now and then to keep myself from going cheesy.
But with Necromunda it's actually easier than with less story-driven games.

It was terrible back in my 40k days, my armies were soo cheesy. I once made a guy quit the hobby for good (seriously I learned about it a week later) after annihilating his best 5k chaos list, while losing 2 wolf scouts and 6 blood wolves. That was actually a pity, because the guy was nice and had some bad luck, so I tried to make it less devastating and even let him keep half of his huge termi retinue, after it had teleported right into one of my squads, but it didn't help in the end.

Anyway, having some less effective gangers is always good for a laugh, especially when they surprise you and pawn. In the end I always try to go for style, if it's effective too, fine, but that shouldn't be your first concern. I can tell you it was a really tough call to give my new specialist a flamer instead of a plasma gun, which would have been nice for my shootie Delaques, but this way I get to convert a tough vanguard ganger with flamer and carapace armor.

Painting Update 3!

Oh no its 1am! I'm an idiot, however I did just finish zombie number 3, so here he is!

Re-shoot/Not original Image Posted

Really enjoyed painting the toxic waste pipe on the base...totally pulls all the focus but fk it who cares?! The glow on his eyes was pretty tough...they're mega small (even for these minis) pretty much pin-head size but just about got it, the upper eye lids aren't quite right but hey I'm happy...as usual guys all comments welcome!

Boston!

The green ooze is awesome, as is the eye glow. The upper lids look fine to me, so don't worry too much about that one. The skintone is fantastic, too. Nice and necrotic

The one thing though, is that there's a bit of a mold line on the right arm...

I wanna see more zombies!

Yeah sadly I really rushed putting all of these zombies together. Only did very minimum prep work. I was sick of building stuff after making the rest of the gang and just wanted to get cracking on the painting side, so yes there are/will be mold lines.

I can live with the ones on their bodies but the ones on their hands are a pain in the! They really interfere when painting their nails/claws.

Lesson learnt, don't rush!

Nice job on number 3 and the ooze looks great nice colour work there, the eyes look spot on again so nice job.

However disappointing on the mould lines and I would have added a bit of green stuff to the shoulder joint to blend it a bit more.

But over all nice work just nit picking ……. it has to been done

Great looking ooze and eyes, and the skin looks nice as well!

But tsk, tsk, tsk.... you left a mold line on his arm.... now it looks like a miniature again and not like a mutant....

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)
