That is why GW succeeds...they release a product that people dont like, yet they buy it anyways. Does anyone else see the flaw here?

Just like the Toronto Maple Leafs. Haven't made the play offs in over 7 years, but still keep selling out no matter how bad they are. People will just complain but then look foolish when they just keep buying it so it doesn't matter how much the interent cries or complains, people still buy it. So who is the fool? The fool who fallows the fool?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Auticus wrote: Or in summation: its ok to exploit shoddy points because those are rules and gamers exist to find rules loopholes (they are still "legal"), but if the same force can be composed without structure, it emotionally feels "wrong".

Wishlist for the ork flyer.
First turn semi reliable tank busting capability (as reliable as orks get anyway).
Fast attack slot (please don't fight with my wagons, don't force me to choose )

And I know Blizzard ripped 90% of their ideas from GW, but turn about is not fair play. Making the SM flyer look like an ugly banshee from SC2 is not cool. Mostly the fact its ugly. Oh well, I'm sure chapterhouse or someone will make some aftermarket parts to make it look decent.

So... maybe we just get gunships this season? No new flying transpos. Bombers here and there, the ability to "pass" over a unit and drop something... hmmm looks like I'm gonna finish scratchbuilding my Stormeagles and Thunderhawks.

To be fair it's a Space Marine vehicle. It could be the most original and magnificent vehicle ever produced and the Internet would just hate on it.

I like it myself.

What people said: We didn't like the Stormraven being short and stubby and we really didn't like the turret.
How GW Responded: Short stubby turret? Put some jets on it and we have our new flyer. Huzzah!

Am I the only one who likes the stormtalon? I prefer the small helicopter feel rather than the bulky transports. All I know is my chaos and templars will be pleased.

Was there any discussion as to what the unit compositions are? The size of the stormtalon looks like it could be 2-3 in a squad? No doubt for apocalypse anyway.

A second vote for the gunship. So ugly only it's mother could love it, yet somehow better than the storm raven.

Orky Flyer. Cool!

Spesh Muhreen flyer. Oh dear...

The chopper look isnt working, Why would Marines buzz around in on of those.? Would work for guard but i wont be adding one to the Emperors Blades forces any time soon.

I love the look, for Guard at least, these new fliers make our cool skimmers seem less unique though :(

That's what I thought too.
To be fair, a lot of their recent, fairly widely hated kits, such as the Dreadknight and Stormraven seem to have sold well.

Enlist as a virtual Ultramarine! Click here for my Chaos Gate (PC) thread.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

I imagine that the reason they get bought is because people still want to use them for the rules. It's like...man...I really hate the way bishops look in chess....however you'd still wanna use one.

Outside the DarkTower, amongst the roses.

That BOW link is back up btw.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

Burna-bomma: BS2, AV10, same rules as jet, burna bomb - essentially scorcha dropped during movement that ignores cover. Also has grot gunner. Pic of blitza-bommer version:

Space Marine Stormtalon gunship - 130 pts!
Not a troop carrier, BS4, AV11, fast skimmer, supersonic, aerial assault, TLAC/TLHB as standard, TLHBs swapout for lascannons/typhoons. Skyhammer missile launchers, S7, AP4, H3 60". Ceramite plating, deep strike. Special rule - escort craft - attach to deep striking/reserve unit and will turn up 6" away. Hover-strike - can turn into a skimmer for a turn, can't move but gets +1 BS. Pic:

Any similarities to the GIJoe Skyhawk are pure coincidence

I just really hope BA can take these. I like fast toys way too much. Any word yet on if all chapters can have these? If the deep striking attached to a unit thing is true these would be perfect for a DOA army.

I do not at all disagree with your assessment but the lure of shiny is rather strong. I'll never play in a tournament and really only play within my gaming group so I am sure it wouldn't be an issue regardless, but don't we all love new toys?

Nope! I love it going on that sketch, it's different. I'm also not going to GW bash to the level that most people do without actually seeing the model

To be honest, I dig the new SM flier. I think it looks cool, and from the rumored rules it may be good in game as well. Why not?

This is true. I'm sure they won't be available for chaos though, so I guess I'm still going to convert a storm eagle for my chaos friend. I rather like the look of all of these sketches and it gives me great hope for that Eldar flyer that has been mentioned
