For the avatar it's really strict with the limits that it states on the edit profile page. Needs to be the right size (both pixel and kb wise) or it seems it will just resize and not move.

Signatures seem to have a more loose restriction of 150 pixels tall. No idea on file size.

Other than that it is exactly like using a normal picture for both. You'll likely need to upload the gif to something like imageshack for the signature though.

The heavy metal one is pretty good as well. Brilliant guitar rifts in it. I do not generally like heavy metal.... But it's ace.

Depending on how long you're on it you unlock stuff that goes on the cat, like a hat or something.
