That is an usual pose, but better than a static one by a long shot. Looks suitably grim. Nice work.

To be honest, the squad pics really aren't doing the minis justice compared to the individual pics, Dakka is compressing them or something and losing all the sharpness, but any votes on any of them are much appreciated!

Yep, just undercoated him, so the full gang will be done by this afternoon. Then I'll probably take a break for a couple of days, finish my last two X-men and then move on to my next large-ish project...

Great Raven Para, I absolutely love the claw's highlighting. Wetblending I'm assuming?

Bit of wet blending, the starkest highlights were just drybrused to get only the very edges.

I really fear painting the White Scar as his bionic(?) bird thing is hanging on by a thread. You have painted these to an excellent quality in a very short space of time, we salute you Sir.

Jetek Suberei White Scar on a bike (because of course), and a thoroughly fantastic model and a real centrepiece. If these guys hit the table, he'll probably be run as some kind of captain that will just be missiled straight at the enemy... Left the Cyber-eagle off, a) so it doesn't just snap off and b) it is the kind of bit that would be perfect for an Inquisitor conversion I'm planning.




And the full Kill Team in all their glory. Dead happy with this lot, a nice open-and-shut project that's come together exactly how I'd hoped it would.

Here's last night's side-project, put together mainly because I just had to use that awesome alternate sword that came with The Blacksmith model! One Solomon Lok model, a Cyber-Eagle, a few cuts and some paint later this is what we have, Inquisitor Jeremiah Abraxas of the Ordo Xenos. He'll take the lead of my Deathwatch squad, and be in the upper echelons of my eventually forthcoming combined Imperial army


Also painted up some odds and ends from DW:OK and the CAT from Space Hulk to use as objective markers... they're not fancy, but they're better than just using 2p coins! I'll get some more done up soon, they were fast but pretty cool, I reckon.

Stellar work - I'm really liking your style and palette. Have you considered making a step-by-step guide of how you make a typical marine? I would love to see the stages you go through and techniques you use

I have considered doing a small tutorial or two, particularly for my more obscure techniques I use like the metallic black armour I've been doing recently (which is dead simple for how good it looks! ). I can certainly put some together so if anyone has any techniques they want me to explain then let me know, I'll make a note of those and get something together in a week or two!

I'd like to see the black armour tutorial if it's going.

Oh and that inquisitor is supremely good. Probably the best of the Deathwatch contingent IMHO

Looks like I'll be cobbling together another Deathwatch Marine for that, then! It'll have to wait a week or so, but is definitely doable. Anything else anyone wants included in the tutorial, before I start planning the model (won't be for a couple of days yet, so no rush! )

High praise indeed! Glad you think the scheme works, there are a lot of elements there that will be replicated on my next set of minis. Grey robes, brassy metallics, red accents... I'm not just nicking your AdMech scheme, honest!

lol- no worries man. really does look good. love the metalwork. contrasts beautifully with the colour of the robes. Only thing that's niggling me is the base. Looks a bit scrappy for such a top score fig. great work though.

Yeah, the base needs redoing, I just grabbed the closest I had to hand. It's the resin topper that came with The Blacksmith, but I've kind of lose the cobblestone look with clumsy washing.
