Void Panthers are looking great. I've been tempted for a while to ask for a full company/force shot but I know how much work they are to set up... So it's a wonderful surprise to see your post. I have some catching up to do on my Dark Angels 5th company after seeing your Void Panthers
Your devastator Sargent definitely stands out. Nicely built.
If you liked the last post then you might like this one too! Firstborn FTW!
Not Online!!! wrote:Well, this is going to look completely awesome when you are done!
I think so too! Might take me a while though!
After a tough week or two I’ve managed to get some painting and a bit of inspiration fuelled some purchases I also got some building done. First up though here are some pics of the completed Demi Company of Void Panthers
They’ll get a bit shuffled around when I paint up Heavy Weapons to match the Sergeant and Special Weapons guys, but I think they look cool all painted up nice. So I also got a pic of the whole painted army to date
By BattleScribes reckoning it’s just shy of 2000 points of shiny death!
I’ve not just been admiring my handy work I’ve also been working on a new mini: a chaplain for the Panthers:
He’s developing nicely but could do with a good bit of tidying up of the purple edge highlights on the black bits. I tried using my magnifying light, but I had to get the mini so close to it that I kept hitting the end of the brush on the light! I then decided to upgrade with some cool hobby magnifying glasses with an inbuilt light
My display shelves also got a literal glow up as I installed some motion sensor battery powered LEDs. The kids love them as they have a remote and can change colour . I took some pics but they turned out rubbish, so I’ll try again some time
Thanks for looking

Great looking batch of minis, gobert. Quite an accomplishment. And no slowing down, as the Chaplain is looking sweet. The black armored stuff looks so good with the gold and purple, while breaking up what would be an endless sea of bling.

Amazing job on the chaplain. Also there's just something about the spooky scary skeleton vibe of them that makes them just an amazing addition.

Disco indeed! Everyone loves an Army pic right!? I’m glad you like the Black bits, I’m very pleased I went that route, as you say, it breaks up the sea of bling and gives me some slightly different painting to do. Hopefully you’ll like the end product of the Chaplain
Not Online!!! wrote:Amazing job on the chaplain. Also there's just something about the spooky scary skeleton vibe of them that makes them just an amazing addition.
Yeah, the skelebob vibes of the Chaplains make them some of the best look SM units, this chap has even been quite fun to paint!
muette wrote:All together look really amazing. The chaplain is also going great, looking forward to seeing it finished!
Beauty in numbers I think! amazingly I’m feeling motivated for the second half of the Company now
Last night I finished up the Chaplain who I’m thinking is called Chaplain Germanus. From the last pic he got the tidy up of the black and a second highlight. His chapter icon got 2 highlights as did the purple areas. The greens got the usual treatment of Emerald Green and striking scorpion green. His eyes got a wash of Ork Flesh Wash, a dot of white and some flouro green for a bit more glow. The base was the last bit with a bit of lighter grey for the rubble, a Basilicanum grey coat for the broken Aquila an all over wash and a bit of an edge highlight on the Aquila. And here he is; Chaplain Germanus of the Void Panthers:
The proper pics will follow in due course. There are a few more pics in the Void Panthers gallery for those that want a sneak peak. I was also challenged on insta for a close up shot of a mini by our very own Ezki ( @tarkamos_mini_workshop), so here’s that pic… but beware the horrors of getting this close to one of my miniatures!
I did clear him off the desk and on to the shelf so here’s a few more pics. Here he is leading a group of Panthers
And again with the Chapter Leadership
Not a bad looking bunch!
Germanus was moved off the desk to make way for this lot…
Because I didn’t need any more projects . I was so pumped to get started on them that I’ve built the Blooded and Gellerpox Infected. The Blooded came with twins of the Blackstone Fortress Traitor Commissar and Ogryn, so I dug around in my bits box and kitbashed them both
This one was tough getting the armour to fit and then reattaching the Chaos star.
The Enforcer was fun too, getting a Scions flag that will obviously get some graffiti. They’ve all been primed now and will jump to the front of the queue. I’ve also printed some more Blackstone Fortress bases as they’ll make a good expansion to the Traitor Guard from the game.
I also got one decent photo of the upgraded display shelves showing the background I’ve printed for the Elves
And that’s it for today
Thanks for looking!

Looking great! I love some converted chaos guard bois. Their new kits are fun to play with - Grab the Khorne Jackals kit for even more flexibility with some of the leftover pieces from the Blooded kill team (and for some more running legs. So many running legs). I used them and the new cadian kit and needed minimal green stuffing (mostly on the backpack areas) to make them look really good.

Thanks blockade, the conversions were good fun and are looking pretty good now I’ve got some paint on them. There are a ridiculous amount of leftovers (21 spare heads and at least 15 sets of arms), and I’ve changed from my original plan to use a friends Krieg casts to buying 2 squads of new Cadians and 1 squad of old… damn eBay and doing multiple simultaneous bids! Still, I should be able to bash at least a couple of squads more if I’m clever with the bits I use. In someways it might help that they’re already built as I can see what bits I can damage as I deconstruct them!
youwashock wrote:Those green eyes are so ghostly good. Love the way he has turned out. Looks great with the boys, too. Nice work with the new arrivals. That Ogryn is going to be awesome.
Thanks youwashock, the eyes do have a nice look to them. The Ogryn is coming along nicely at the moment too
I’ve made decent progress already on the Blooded Kill Team. I’ve stuck mainly to contrast/speed paint and dry brushing and I’m liking how they’re going
I’ve mixed up the colours used on the Blackstone Fortress guardsmen. The Blooded get some nice purple trousers, dark grey helmets and leathers and light grey tunics. They have a range of contrast based skin tones in Fyreslayer, Guilliman, Hardened Leather and a few mixtures with bits of red contrast thrown in and a couple using athonian camoshade mixed in. The camoshade on the Corpseman and the red on the Enforcer are my favourites
Thanks for looking

Purple and grey/black combo is absolutely clutch for the guard, and you're right, the sheer number of extra heads and arms that *almost* work perfectly as long as you have some extra torsos. I was digging extra chests and legs out of my bitz box for what felt like weeks but ended up being just a few days and then...they were done!

Thanks Ezki, it was fun to be challenged and he looks decent enough I suppose . That Mordor pic is really cool, I should get one for my Panthers too at some point but I’ve been struggling to find a suitable one of good enough resolution

Thanks blockade23, they’re coming together quite well so far. I’m hoping to get them done before a Kill team game on Thursday. I think the minis will be doable, but I might need to play them unbased. I’ll see how much I get done this week
mcmattila wrote:Great work on the Chaplain! He's one of the best sculps of the old Chaplains, and you certainly did him justice. Yeah, he’s a cool model alright, you can’t beat a good ol’ skull helmet. The purple highlighted black can be a pain, but I also think it brings them closer together whilst being different.
Thanks for all the comments fellow dakkanauts. I had planned to reward you with some better pics of the Chaplain, but for whatever reason the pics all came out weird. I’ll get him out again when I photograph the Blooded. With any luck that’ll be before Thursday when I intend to sacrifice them to some Ork Kommandos which of course is all part of the plan to make the last survivors even stronger
This past week I’ve been getting their metal work done, loads of Leadbelcher with Agrax or Druchii washes and even a Basilicanum wash on the ogryns armour. Most of them got a few bits of Retributor armour on trinkets and spikes that got washed with seraphim sepia. I also got some glow on the plasma weapons. The pistol looks decent in pics but both at a bit shoddy in real life aside from the mild OSL around the coils.
The masks a few of them are wearing are a bit lighter than I intended, but I’m happy enough with them now they’ve had a Druchii/Nuln/light grey mix.
Elsewhere my printer has been busy helping me to relive my youth. Back in the day I took the Basic Strongpoint design from White Dwarf and built myself a mega fortress. Fast forward nearly 30years and I happened across an stl that someone had designed based on it. And created this monstrosity!
Back in the day I also designed a tower for the centre of it and I’m hoping to go one better with a bunker. I have printed one but there were a few design issues: the bridges don’t slot in to the doorways, the ceiling doesn’t fit, and the parapets on the roof are too short. I’ll get doing a bit of redesign and get that printed and primed next week. As you can see from the mat it’s on, the complex is just about the perfect size for a game of Kill Team, though I fear it will just be a race for the tower then constant sniping!
Thanks for looking

Thanks tzurk, always a pleasure to have you back around these parts! Glad to hear that you’re still liking what you see. I’m looking forward to painting the fortress, it should be fun!
blockade23 wrote:Fortress looks great - I can see the 'opportunities to excel' at fixing it and upgrading it. Will you chaos-ify it?
Yeah, hopefully I can get it looking good in short order when I finish the central tower. I don’t plan on adding any chaos elements, just paint it in the classic colours probably. Need to mix up some cheap paint to create space wolves grey and Nuln oil
Last night I finished and photographed the Blooded Kill Team. I even managed to make some blooded tokens using the arms and heads removed from soon to be traitorous Cadians. Here’s the team pics
They’re nothing special, but a few of them earned some Blood For The Blood God. The Butcher, Ogryn, Chieftain, Trench Sweeper and Sharpshooter did pretty well. The Butcher being the most fun cutting through about 4 Kommandos after the game was lost but leaning in to the teams lore.
Here’s the Butcher, who revelled in being able to regenerate wounds for killing Orks
I used the Blackstone Fortress Ogryn (hadn’t spotted how wonky his spikes were until now) for WYSIWYG. He was basically his own cover and cover for the Butcher
The Trench Sweeper massively benefited from Shielding. It slowed him down but helped him survive a few Rokkit barrages (also hadn’t realise that I missed him from the group shots
Thee Sharpshooter dishes out a good bit of damage, helped by getting the first turn blood token
More pics of follow plus battle pics too
Thanks for looking

The blooded team always makes me wish GW would get off it's backside and redo R&H with plastic kits. But then i consider the prices of 40k GW and the current state of the core ruleset and the dream shatters again.
Anyways, great work on all of them, the Plasmagun really looks impressive as an effect and the team just is an impressive work!

This guy was my Chieftain (Leader) for the game, he was borrowed from my Blackstone Fortress set. He did ok in the game but I think I’ll replace him with the headless Cadian Sgt who will get a plasma pistol and improvised blade from the Blooded kit
Another Blackstone Fortress stand in who took a Rokkit to the face in the first turn before he’d even had a chance to move. Bad positioning on my part I suppose
The kitbashed Enforcer turned out pretty well, again the plasma looks better in pics than real life, but this side of his banner looks great and that head is spot on
The otherside is a bit messy but that plasma glow looks great (in the pic at least )
The other no show was the Traitor Bullgryn kitbash (both as they’re not legal loadouts and I wanted WYSIWYG)
His shield looks pretty cool, I should’ve pointed it more upright though.
His back could do with a Chaos star or something I think
The gun receiver/casing looks pretty cool with nothing but dry brushing… though I now realise that I forgot the shell casings
The Flenser was sneaking around and was part of the team to claim an objective. Unfortunately Bigstu314 had to go catch his train before he had a chance to cut up some Orks
Brimstone Grenadier was Bigstu314s last kill before he had to go. It shouldn’t have been but the Diabolyk bomb missed its intended target and only wounded one the other nearby Ork.
The Corpseman did a bit of softening up targets but was pretty anonymous aside from that
The gunners didn’t get many targets with Bigstu314s Orks heading home
The Thug went looking for targets to hit right at the end and did well enough before catching bullets
The Commsman was left at home but I think the extra AP would have come in quite handy in hindsight
I’ve still not gotten around to adding the BFTBG, so they’ll make a reappearance when that happens.
Yesterday I got busy preparing the next batch of Void Panthers. I went on a bit of a spending spree at the colour forge to try and speed up the colour blocking work flow.
A good amount of masking tape helped get the purple and black over their major areas without too much mess. A quick bit of tidying up and they’re nearly ready for the Nuln Oil wash,
I think I might try and only put the Nuln oil where it’s needed to see if that’s any quicker. First though I need to get through the Leadbelcher step.
Thanks for looking and getting through quite a long post

As eluded to in earlier posts we had a 3 way Kill Team game last weekend. Here are a few pics from the game
Here’s the initial set up. My blooded were bottom right, Coleface40ks Kommandos are bottom left and Bigstu314 is top centre. We all ended up having groups heading toward each other. Here are my 2 groups
With most only having 2 action points Turning Point 1 was mostly manoeuvres, but I lost the Enforcer
My barricade placement slowed my progress quite a bit but the Trench Sweeper and Ogryn are basically walking cover so it didn’t stop me.
Elsewhere the Flenser and Plasma Gunner nabbed control point uncontested
The Brimstone Grenadier atttempted to kill a couple of Orks but fumbled his throw and they both shrugged it off
Both Ork Nobs smashed each other up in the middle of the battlefield. bigstu314 won out thanks in part to softening up coleface40ks nob with a bit of withering rocket fire first. I forgot to take pics after that but it turned in to a bit of a bloodbath
This week bigstu314 and I have been away with work and elected to play kill team rather than spending too much on beers in the bar (will still managed 3 beers each, but I think it limited the damage! I brought my harbinger of damnation terrain minis the floor tiles so it didn’t take up too much room. We played the first in to the dark scenario. Here’s the initial deployment
Most of the minis formed an orderly queue behind the various doorways ready to make a mad dash to the various control points to secure some VPs
The sharpshooter made what I now agree is a dubious kill shooting the first Ork in the far doorway
Here’s their replacement
At the end of Turning Point 1 Stu had a 4-2 lead
The Ogryn though thought Stu’s nob looked a bit soft and beat him to death. A retreat by another boy left me in good control of the central chamber.
The right hand chamber turned in to a bit of a bloodbath. It was looking like a stalemate until the Orks choppa killed the Brimstone Grenadier who went bang
Taking out the Ork, his mate and the Flenser.
So by the end of TP2 it was now 5-3 to stu but it was looking like I’d be getting at least 2 chambers secured if I could survive a few more rokkits
Off camera the Butcher with a bit of support from the Enforcer cleared up the left chamber. And the Meltagunner supported the Ogryn (and hid behind him) to clear the central chamber. The rokkit boy in door to the central chamber really struggled to hit the Ogryn who somehow survived multiple salvos with barely a wound taken. The right Chamber did not go according to plan as the trench sweeper met a competent rokkit boy and the Corpseman nobly sacrificed himself as he attempted to kill a boy with his stim needle, failed and was chopped down! So with that I had no one in there, putting us notionally tied if the chambers ownerships didn’t change
The Butcher had tied up the central chamber rokkit boy but couldn’t fight until the rokkit boy hit him and they did little to each other thanks to equal parties. The ogryn then charged the rokkit boy in the doorway but we reckon he must’ve got caught on the door after being dazed by all of the rokkits sent his way in the previous turn as he failed to do any damage except the Avalanche of Muscle mortal wounds! Still, that was the final moves in the left and central chamber. In a last hussar I’d withdrawn the plasma gunner and sharpshooter and sent them charging across the board in a bid to get enough APL in the right chamber to tie that sector. Whilst they both made it, they had no AP left to do anything and got mown down by the overwatching rokkit boy
And the demise of the plasma gunner to a rokkit was a fitting end to a bloody match! It ended 7-7 on VPs (we didn’t play Tac Ops to keep it a bit simpler) and we even killed the same number of enemy operatives. With lots of fun crazy 40k moments it was a great game
Normal painting updates will resume shortly
Thanks for looking

Man, those game shots are too good. Glad you are getting these boys some table time. Everything looks really good, gobert. Keep up the stellar pace!

Looks like you had a great game. I never have much time for a big game of 40k so Kill Team has been scratching the wargaming itch and it's great fun.

Thanks, I am enjoying the into the dark/harbinger of damnation stuff, it makes for cool close up pics I think.

Likewise, time is at a premium and 40k would take more time than I have available. The alternating activations adds a great dynamic and now I’m 4 games in I’m starting to think beyond just my current activation too.
Not a massive amount of progress since my last painting update. I had hoped to get a good bit done on the Void Panther filler marines but all I managed was the most boring bit: getting the Leadbelcher applied.
I’ll do the green next as that seemed quicker to do at this stage rather than at the end, especially as there’s so many cables to do.
No pics as yet, but I’ve built up all of my remaining bikers, including a trio of attack bikes. My plan is to get the Army built and ideally primed before winter, though the British weather seems to not want me to do any priming at the moment! Next on the building desk is a pair of Land Speeders, one will be a Typhoon and I need to decide on the other one. After that I think I have about 30 Marines

Awesome battle shots mate, thanks for the write up.
Beautifully painted minis on well painted terrain...life doesn't get much better than this. Battle mat or hotel desk, doesn't matter
That's a lotta marines at once - palette already looking good - godspeed!

Thanks tzurk, I think you’re right, painted minis on painted terrain is the best! After the last game I’ve been doing some digital kit bashing to allow me to better use the printed floor pieces with fewer but bigger pillars. I also made up some adaptations to better represent the control points from In To The Dark with just the dynamo and tanks to do. I’ll get them printed up and they’ll jump the painting queue I reckon.
I’ve done a bit more painting on the filler Panthers but forgot to take any pics, you’ve seen enough golden lads with a Nuln oil wash. I’m part way through bringing the base colours back to life. I promise some pics when I get that stage done.
Elsewhere I got the building bug, here’s all the remaining fast attack stuff, with a pair of land speeders joining the fray
The red one is missing its bumper, so I need to source one of those. Might go to eBay unless I can find a suitable stl to print one.
I also made a start on my vanguard veterans. They’re one cool kit with lots of options. Courtesy of our very own Ragsta I have a few extra torsos so decided to squeeze out a Smash Captain. He’ll need a backpack and I think I’ll see if I can find a good stl for a winged version for a bit more bling. I also took a pair of the Chaos Space Marine lightning claws that Ragsta donated so that I can have a full squad of 5.
The other Marine is using some old Devastator crouching legs and his left claw is in the ground as he landed with a bit of a super hero landing.
Following a bit of a bonus from work I finally decided to splurge on Blackstone Fortress: No Respite. Obviously I paid way over the original retail, but I now have a full set of the expansions (less the card based ones ). I’ll have to come up with some kit bashes for the duplicate Plague Marines and Poxwalkers I’ll now have.
Thanks for looking
