i think that games workshop and wizards of the coast should trade starwars and lord of the rings games.

im sorry i think that starwars would be much better as a games workshop game, and i think that lord of the rings would fit more with wizards of the coast genre.

it's just my opinion what do you guys think?

I'd rather not have Wizards of the Coast get close to any hobby which I have after they ruined thirty beautiful years of D&D with 4th edition.

i just imagine starwars as a better option for games workshop than lord of the rings
i think that starwars suits games workshop more than wizards and i also think that lord of the rings suits wizards of the coast better than it does games workshop.

I like to see Wizards of the Coast give dungeon's and dragons to GW.. that is all.

So you want GW to convert 40k to a CMG? No thanks.

Uh, forgive the obvious question, but what's a CMG? Anything like a CCG, or am I way off?

My first thought when I saw this topic, honestly, was the suggestion that GW outsource their rules-department to WotC... 'Course, what exactly WotC gets out of that I certainly dunno.

just check out there sales lotr sells way more then starwars. there both good games starwars doesnt fit with GW though mainly because its not a hobby game it just a collectors game. and to be honest starwars is a kids game its so easy its not even funny. i play lots of games from GW and Wizard
and i would have to say that GW out does Wizard by far so no i would not like it if they switched games. it that where to happen both games would be ruined.

I agree with this.

GW would produce WAY better miniatures for Star Wars. And having GW do the rules for it would be like George Lucas going back re-editing the original trilogy to ruination! PERFECT FIT!!!

They have completely different ways of doing games.

Star wars is an established universe so they wouldn't want that competing with 40k (They said LOTR was a one off)

It would either go the way of a specialist game and die or end up being another pillar game that everyone hates.

Yes, I DO think that WotC should take over GW and make 40K a CMG. Could it get any worse?

40k is already a CMG and has been from the beginning. For those that disagreed, it must be remembered that for the longest time, blisters were random only, except where a blister was only a single choice to begin with for a model range.

Having simple core rules or being easy to play doesn't make a game a 'kids game'

I dunno about you, but 40k we can see inside the blisters, so it's not so much a CMG.

OTOH, if you want MtG to move to clear packaging, with singles as bitz, I guess that'd be a new thing.

It'd be nice to have MTG inform 40k players that some units are just for show, rather than tournament playing...

Like, say, Vanguard Assault Marines, DA Assault Marines, or BA non-Baal Predators

Wizards rules guys for the core books have their heads screwed on, but the guys they farm out to for supplements are just rubbish. I'd like to see them handling the rules but I think they would make a real mess of 40K's background. I really like LOTR as is, so I'd rather GW hung on to it- wizards make awful, awful minis and LOTR has some incredibly pretty models.

Can't see inside the blister if ordering from GW Direct.

i dont think that lotr is good when you focus on a army scale. i think it would be much better as a rpg. thats just my opinion though.

Really? I thought WOTC were a fairly alright company. They seem to have good customer relations and a decent business model.I have problems with setting being dropped (Darksun, Ravenloft, Spelljammer, Planescape) but really I don't mind as long as they keep doing what they are doing.
What did they do to make you consider them worse than GW?
