Thanks to the Dude @ warseer

Planet Strike will supposedly come sooner than expected. I’m told July at the latest.

Rumoured rules:

In a game of Planet Strike, the Attacker/Defender split will be very important, with them possibly getting different FOCs.

Defender
Gets to place all terrain on the battlefield and picks his table edge.

He can declare Terrain to be dangerous if he wants (Mined for example) although it’s not clear how much he can do this for.

There will be buildings with mounted weapons, like armed bunkers etc. Probably, the defender will have to place all of his army.

Attacker
May place some Craters to get some cover.

May move in from his table edge, Deep Strike and Outflank, similar to a "Dawn of War" Scenario.

May also get some goodies like a prepared Artillery fire on the defending units, special equipment etc.

Will most likely get first Turn.

Releases:

New terrain such as a multipart plastic kit similar to the Cities of Death ruins. With enough of those you will possibly be able to build fortresses, defensive structures for tanks, or control towers, outposts etc. Also some new craters and other stuff that wasn’t expanded on.

Plastic Thunderhawk is again mentioned.

Anyone have a ballpark on a possible release date or price for the T-Hawk? I want at least 3!! My Wolves need a studly way to get around, as do my Scars, my Dark Angels and I suppose I'll have to get one for the Templars as well..... Looks like 2 of us will be very broke!

SOunds more like Planet Strike! wil be about sieges and assaulting prepared postions than landing.

I'm a lot more excited about it now.

Would anyone consider me mad if I bought a Thunderhawk, painted it up (bog-standard Ultramarine 2nd Company T-Hawk)... and then dropped it from a great hight (or hit it with a hammer as an alternative) in order to break it and make it into a crashed T-Hawk terrain piece?

I'd do it with a Forge World one only I'm sure before I could do it my wallet would achieve sentience and kill me.

Dude.
That's not a nice thing to say.
; )

Looking forward to seeing the Planetstrike terrain, though I have to admit that I'm not that enthused about how the game structure sounds.

IIRC that's how GW made their crashed shuttle for the last boxed set so I would say it's an approved method.

Be sure to post the video!

I feel like a plastic dropship (heh) would not shatter like brittle resin, but rather just break apart at the seams. You gotta get the real (terrible to build and painful on the wallet) FW version for some real breakage.

Good point, what if you drop from some place really high? You could put it in a trash bag then toss it from 20 stories or more up. That way you get good breaking and don't lose the parts.

You have to use a Force-Flex bag for that, according to the commercial it can hold a Piano.

I would recommend using a hammer and a trash bag.

That is an excellent idea... ok... it's a terrible idea, but it's an excellent way of going about a terrible idea.

Thanks Kyoto!

Ok, I will blow up a Forge World Thunderhawk if people fund my experiments into time travel so I can go into the future and get the new terrain kits.

Now this is sounding great. Looks like we can finally re-enact the invasion of Waaagh! Gitstompa on the world of Stradovar.

The thought of fortress and vehicle emplace kits is making me double happy.

Actually if the T-hawk had enough interior detail, I was considering doing this myself.

To be honest, seriously its about the best way for it to see a lot of use on the table and that is as a terrain element.

Would it be safe to assume that the Ironclad Dreadnought might also be included in this release? It is something of an assault / siege weapon after all.

That sounds much better!

I don't know how strict fireworks laws are in your neck of the woods but if you could stuff the T-hawk with some fire crackers you'd get much more interesting damage and melting!

What you have to do is take a study wood crate, replace the top with plexiglass for light, have a camera there and drill a hole at ground level for camera 2 (protect camera lens with plexiglass as well) then find some firecrackers with long fuses.

Oh nuts! Looks like i shall have to put my terrain ideas on hold until i see what gw comes up with...no point trying to compete with plastic kits :( but on the good side i think its about time they released some cool defensive structures. I'm thinking its going to be the stuff shown in the new rulebook which looks quite nifty

So is planet strike going to be a new codex, or is it going to be a new game expansion like CoD and APOC??

Finally I'll be able to use the two forgeworld defensive emplacements I bought all those years ago!!

Ooohhh, Now this DOES look fun, City Fight, but entertaining! :-)

Something inside told me the thunderhawk would be next, my mate just started making 3 from scratch so GUARANTEED to bring one out in plastic....

I'll ask him to make 3 Warhound Titans next shall I?

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

Nonono ask him to make 3 scratchbuilt squigoths.

Multi part plastic squigoths FTW

So since it looks Planet Strike! is going to be more than just landings, could it be the home for the long-rumored mighty empire tiles?

Maybe its a campaign game?

I'm sure rumours from a while back said the Mighty Empires 40K was (sadly) a while off still.

The 40k "mighty empire" set ups been rumored for next year at the earliest but more likely later. It will probably be the next expansion after planet strike, my guess.

Well it seems each army will eventually get its super heavy.
IG: Baneblade; Ork: Stompa; SM (CSM?): Thunderhawk...
Less substantial rumor: Tyranid: Trygon, Tau: Tigershark; Eldar: Cobra... leaving dark eldar and necrons... those two will probably just end up with something made up rather than originally FW.

I think Inquisition should get a mobile chapel based on the baneblade but thats just me.

The more rumors I hear of releases this year, the less likely I think Space Hulk will be released in September, let alone at all this year.

IG (confirmed)
Planet strike (more or less confirmed)
Space Wolves (more or less confirmed, but exact date is speculative)
Tyranids (new rumor)

This doesn't leave much room for Space Hulk into the mix, even though it technically isn't a 40K game. But considering that it isnt really a 40K release, then perhaps they can find some other way to slip it into the release schedule. I am not really up to date on whats going on with WHFB or LotR releases, but perhaps the releases for those titles are sparese enough to fit this in?

Not that it really matters to me a great deal as I am doing my own plan for space hulk, but it would still be nice to see what GW comes up with to rerelease it. If the rules are naff, no loss. If the rules are great then so much the better.

I don't think it'd be too hard to squeeze it in between a marines and tyranid release.

Rumored: Also in the mix are Dark Eldar indefinitely delayed. An Eldar remix, too soon if you ask me. Tau touch up.

Dude! 4 Space Marine armies? Seriously?? Why the feth does a person have 4 Space Marine armies?

QFT.
This sounds a lot more promising, I just hope the new terrain will be compatible with the CoD stuff.

Would make sense if you ask me. Especially if Planetstrike really is more focused on sieges and stuff like that.
