Well thats only if you intend to be mobile. This 1000pt list looks like a gun line to me so no A.S.S. would be fine.
Also, at 1000 the ethereal can be handy but you will quickly find other places for those points at 1500 and 1850.
Looks like a solid start though.

Definately going for a gun line strategy with the 88's as backup against armor, and the HQ suits to jump in and fend off any assaults.
I could drop a few fire warriors in order to get the A.S.S. perhaps? Maybe make one of the FW squads smaller and switch from rifles to carbines for a little more mobility in the front.

Looks completely solid for what it does. Ethereals are really only good for Gun Line Tau, as his ret are great shots and everyone will be in LOS of him.

Main reason I went with the Etheral is the fact that I have one and how great they look (also the 4 BS FW is pretty nice, more FW can solve anything hah!). I have some kroot and gun drones, but mechanically I don't really like the kroot or the drones.

The Ethereal will help with the use of a gunline, but the Kroot are more effective as counter-assault units then your HQ will be. The tactic here is to station a squad of Kroot immediately behind your Fire Warrior line, when the enemy looks as if they'll be assaulting next turn, you move the Kroot forward and the Fire Warriors back.
