It is pretty weird, especially since corrundum already exists http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corundum

Hm. Actually that kind of makes sense. The titanium and chromium in it could strengthen the steel, although they'd have to have a way to remove the aluminum and oxygen impurities.

The thing I don't get is that they have Charcoal as something you can buy from blacksmiths.

What they should have done (and what I'll do as soon as possible) is make it so you can Smelt Firewood into Charcoal, and Smelt Charcoal and Iron Ore into Steel. Corundum should only give gems- rubies and sapphires.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

That would be a good mod, you should propose that on a modding forum.

Yeah, what is the point of buying charcoal?

I know that there was one quest where you needed one piece of charcoal and one piece of paper, but I could find those in the same room that I needed them in.

I remember that quest.

Any other uses?

edit, anyone else peeved you NEED to do the main quest AND the mages guild quests to near completion (actually, you do technically need to finish the main quest from that point) in order to get all the dragon priest masks?

I'm having a right job getting my companion to use the kick ass bow that I've given her. It's an ebony one with a heavy duty flame enchantment on it but every time she starts chucking a few arrows about she pulls a crappy, minging wooden one out that does bugger all. It's giving me the right arse. Does anyone know why?

Also, whats the difference between the damage ratings of bows and the arrows? For instance, if you fire a steel arrow from an ebony bow does it do the damage of a steel arrow or ebony bow?

And one more thing, Iv'e now capped but didn't put any perks on my smithing tree so will I get the opportunity to wear Daedric and Dragon armour (I'm wearing ebony armour at the mo) or have I blown it?

Champion game by the way.

Bows and arrows dmg are added together

You can wear Daedric (I think you can only get it by using the atronach forge's crafting, since you cant smith it) but never dragon as it doesnt exist in the game unless you smith it

- Ring of Hircine
- Masque of Clavicus Vile
- Azura's Star
- Mace of Molag Bol
- Dawnbreaker
- Wabbajack

(Can't get Ring of Namira, killed the NPC who gave it to me because I'm running a goody-two-shoes character atm)

All 15 of them.

The only usefull one is the blackstar IMO. Though I did use volendrung because it's the only proper looking hammer (a maul instead of warhammer)

Not true. You can smith Daedric armor at smithing 90.

Also, companions tend to refuse to use enchanted weapons.

Black Star = Azura's Star

Its the same thing, its just that the Black Star can only hold human souls, and the normal star can only hold non-human souls.

Now, Imperials are noobs.
Im only level 8 and I have so far conquored Whiterun, Falkreath, Markarth, Fort Neugrad, your occasional money transport, and another fort.
Most with only 3 other stormcloaks.

The thing about the Headless Horseman is that you must follow him.
Hell lead you to an open place with around 3 draughr, and when you kill them the chest there, wich is normally not special, will contain a magic item.

lol, reminds me of the Linen Wrap items.

I kept thinking that's what you used to make robes with, like for magic using. But no, you can't make robes, little dragonborn, that's not for you...

So far I only have the Ring of Namira and Mehrunes' Razor, but I'm partway through Molag Bal, Clavicus Vile and Azura's quests.

I also just had my first proper problem with the framerate, I went to do a task for Ulfric (even though I'm an imperial supporter, I feel dirty) that involved killing a dragon at Bone strewn crest, which I can't do, because every time I get close the dragon flies towards me, by flying backwards, then slowing down the framerate massively.

I'm hoping the next patch will come out soon.

However in the game corundum ore looks almost exactly like real world malachite (copper ore) and corundum ingots look almost exactly like real world copper ingots...

What is even more confusing is while alloying with titanium and chromium would make the steel stronger (and stainless, I'm looking at you bloodstains) it wouldn't turn iron into steel, why didn't they use the already existing charcoal item for that?

I'm currently using Stenvar (a merc I picked up in Windhelm I believe) and he's using an enchanted Greatsword atm.

On the other hand, I have discovered my first major glitch with the game. I need to liberate Markarth (liberate lol, more like conquer), and I cannot talk to the Jarl's Steward because I finished the Forsworn Conspiracy quest, so all the guards try to arrest me on sight. I tell them I submit and I'll go to jail, but they just loop the speech options. I cannot talk to the Steward because he attacks me on sight... grrrr

Think iv got at least 10/15 Daedric artefacts currently. I had a look through the guide and supposedly you get an item, random treasure, from level 12+ to start a Daedric quest. Im level 40+ and still havnt found it :S

Man, I liked in oblivion where quests had funny dialog if you already had the item sometimes. I already had the elder scroll when Mr. P told me to go get one, but all that happened was it just continued the convo as if I just got it and then talked to him again. Lame

Im trying to get all the dragon masks for novelty, and am currently saved inside the area where the priest I have to kill is to open the portal. I hate being forced to do two whole quest lines to finish a side quest.
However, that would be kinda cool if there was like, a piece of some item you get from finishing each quest/guild line, and made an uber item with it as a reward for doing everything.

On the topic of Dragon Masks, does anyone find it strange every mask has awesome effects, except Rahgot just gives +70 stamina. That made we double take and just say wtf.
