Thanks, but I'm really not Santa ... at least last time i checked
@Yggdrasil - I really hate backpacks, somehow they never seem to be looking right, and the backpack would've looked "wrong" with the pose, I somehow couldn't get it to look right in that position.

Backpacks are a pain, but I always put them on, otherwise a marine doesn't quite look right to me.
But still, an awesome diorama, glad we finally got a view of the Ork's front, I strained to see the headshot in previous pics and couldn't! Awesome work, especially the lighting on the marine.

Thanks guys,
after all the Deathwatch stuff, I decided it was time to revive one of my older IG projects...
It's not yet the ATHENA, but I'm getting closer *wink*
After chatting with my nephew Florian I decided to complete the Nighthawk.
First I mounted the Punisher Cannons and AA-Missiles
and added some details to the wing joints
and prepared the base as stand-alone display
And for a decent display I'll need some crew, don't I?
So I looked at my old notes and remembered I planned a female pilot...
So I dug through my Dark Eldar pile and combined some bits with IG bits...
and with some GS (or rather ProCreate) she looked like this on Monday
This will be her Navigator/Gunner, with an artificial eye and mechanical arm
As of last night she looks like this:
Still WIP
A bit Amilia Earhart
I hope you like it
C&C welcome
Cheers
Klaus

Usually I use the clear part of blister packs - but sometimes that plastic isn't really smooth an clear. I think this special canopy was made of the thicker, but clearer cover of a Whiskas Crunch cat food box
I pretty much confiscate any clear plastic cover int he house, see if it's usabel, and either recycle it for a 40K project or to the recycle trash bin

ok so this is pretty much the same thing i do where any plastic that is covering the product, like the Apoc templates that i recently bought is stored and recycled, but that stuff looks thicker in this pic. looks like about the same thickness as a clear cd cover case, or is it just the simple fact that it being an extreme close-up it's throwing off my perspective?
Whiska crunch cat food, eh? never heard of it, maybe I should take a stroll through the pet food aisles at the local krogers.

Thanks guys
@SebastionSynn - you're right, this is a thicker material. Honestly I can't remember what it was -looks like a CD Jewel Case...but I think I also had some strips of .5mm Plexiglass...let me look at my notes, maybe I can find something...
So, I worked some more on Amilia and the Navigator - any name suggestions for him?
And here they are, ready for priming:
Speaking of priming - since I'm not sure on the paint scheme yet, I consulted my aircraft book and narrowed it down to those two designs:
The BF110 German pattern is simple, but with a nice effect
the other option would be the Black Widow
Which together with the female pilot has a nice twist, doesn't it? Especially with the "Lady in the Dark" slogan/Pin Up
Speaking of books - I finally got my CMON Annual 2009, and on page 80 one can find the ZEUS:
Makes me mighty proud
So, let me know what you think of the paint schemes!
Cheers

The navigator shouldn't have a name. Bear with me on this. Lets say, for arguments sake, Amilia is a reckless fighter pilot, whose skill with the nighthawk is only bested by her sense of self preservation. Now, due to circumstance beyond control, and perhaps to a degree actions made by her to save her own life, Amilia goes through Navigators as quickly as vindaloo through the digestive system. The navigators die off far to quickly to gain any renown, and as such, she doesn't bother to learn their names, knowing that they'll probably be dead by the end of the day.
But yeah, just an idea for you to consider.
As for paint schemes, I think the Black Widow seems good, and the black gives a nice backdrop for any potential nose art you had in mind (?) whereas the camo would lose the detail. However, it really depends on the Nighthawks role. Is it a low flyer, similar to a valkyrie or vulture? If so, Camo would be better, to hide it from high flyers that would potentially go plane hunting.
Zeus is beautiful by the by.

i have to concure... your airship and the items already joined for this huge project i say totally go for the black widow as it ios unique in its own way but will blend in niecely to your other smaller vessels... the german pattern is too much in a certain special direction i think and would draw attention away from the rest of the setup...
just my humble thoughts^^... and you know what is meant by people who say their thoughts are humble... they actually think their thoughts aren´t humble at all^^
vik
by the way... as of now amelia looks a bit of her facial features (not that anybody would notice cause of her cleavage anyway^^) as if she was in agony? intended?

Hey guys,
sorry for the lack of updates.
As one of the WIP members pointed out, the old elevator is now too narrow to fit the fully armed STRIX.
So I decided to build a new platform
Now everything fits better
with all elements in place
The planned "hero shot" for which I had the smoke for a photo question
Then I masked the cockpit and got everything ready for priming
And now the first pieces are ready for painting
Cheers

Hey guys,
sorry for the lack of updates - SebastionSynn, thanks for asking
I decided to participate in the " http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=17422&st=0 Line Breaker Contest" at WIP.
Since the contest is 100% anonymous, I'm not allowed to post any WIP's.
BUUUUT, since I want to keep you all entertained and "in the loop" I decided to post an update of a very different kind
This was the desk status on Thursday
Friday was even worse
Then on Saturday things got better, but first I had to make a million of rivets...
...and then I worked on the base.
And as of last night my desk looks like this:
So, the build phase is officially over and it's time for priming
I'm still pretty much on schedule, but my entry is big with lots of painting. Plenty of room for "effects", but I'm not sure if there's enough time, as my wife gave me a pretty busy schedule for next week *sigh*
I hope you like my rather uncommon update
Cheers
