I actually liked the food they served in the Army. And MRE's, the only thing I didn't like was the powedered eggs they would serve for breakfast. I learned quickly to steer clear of them and go for the grits!

Back on topic: What color scheme are you going for? I know you said something about camo nets, and that would be awesome!

OD Green with a steel-colored central barrel just like the original with some sort of yellow highlights. no painted camo. I'm going to fly by the seat of my pants on the camo netting, I don't have that bit planned very well yet.

For netting maybe cheese cloth, or something with a finer mesh, and then glue little leaf-shaped paper all over it? Dunno.

MRE's are Meals Ready to Eat. Basically survival food, pre-packaged with yummy accessories like tabasco sauce, M&M's, crackers and cheese paste. Mmmmmmmmm.

you had tabasco sauce in those...we only god a hundred year old biscuits and called them concrete...also the meals we had in the MRE´s were kind of awful...but then when on action we had this smallish choclate piece... ate it and you needend had to use the toilet for about half a week...and if you ever had to make a dumb in the woods in late summer you knwo it is not that funny... so a bit of indegestion was a nice thing to have ...

Vik your army food sounds disgusting! However I have something that trumps it: SCHOOL DINNER!

well i seriously could no understand what the term MRE was meaning... but you may have a freaky tastebud or two^^ but maybe as a real army the U.S. army has a need for better food than the bundeswehr...who never are far away from a shopping mall^^... a former friend when on a army trip(what is it called fr real?) took his big sack full of coke bottles... all 1.5 litres... and nothing else... no socks no underwear...just coke... he said he pukes when he has to drink the stuff they serve him...

For the record; I will now be sending all of my FAst air requests and Artillary Fire Missions thru you. Stand by......

It's true. Some of my buddies in high school and university would go to the army surplus store and get MREs for camping trips. Not bad for not having to cook in the woods

No, I haven't forgotten how to paint, I just haven't felt like painting lately. We used to buy MREs from the Army Surplus for camping too.

Hey DST cheese cloth sprayed army green and brown with leaves glued into it is what Ash1 uses and his nets look great!

I wish I could find some of the powdered oxtail soup I once had from British army rations. It was amazing when I was sitting in the rain on sentry duty as a cadet.

Oxtails make soup? It sounds like that would taste like crap (pun intended)

er....actually it is kind of a delicatesse...doesn´t yield much meat to the soup but it taste quite strong...in a good way...

So is it made with powdered/dehydrated meat?

what i meant is from just fresh meat.... the MRE version ...well if you would have to starve rather,then i think i might eat it^^
