OSJC - Glad you like the ship builds so far
Kid Kyoto - Thanks man, glad ur liking the ships! I don't want to put Vanguard down too much, I have enjoyed all their other stuff.
FeistyRips - Hey buddy! Totally relate to quitting Insta - I'm finding all social media pretty much a cesspool at this point. I'm still posting there currently but may well stop. I enjoy forum posting much more, there's more detail I can get into! Thanks so much for your kind words
gobert - Thanks comrade!
I wanted to share my Stargrave crew. I need to get playing with them again- they have had their fair (unfair) share of getting blasted by steam vents, shredded by lasers and mauled by beasties.
Cpt. Tregari Sutter likes to describe himself as an appreciator of fine arts, technological antiquities and data stacks. He is the Captain of the Fast Packet 'Kerry Denk'.
'Treg' has a fondness for robotics and unisphere networks in particular. In his youth his family’s wealth meant he was able to enjoy these pastimes with little actual labour.
Their dwindling fortunes during the Last War saw Sutter eventually conscripted into military service as a ‘technical specialist’. He’s never been able to explain what that really is to his crew on the rare occasion someone has asked. It’s possible this is the primary reason he has survived to this point.
Childhood nostalgia for tech has been soured by the grim reality of an independent’s life in this galaxy. Treg Sutter is able to recognise the value in abandoned machinery and data hubs that others could miss. He has the technical savvy to dismantle and utilise archeotech to make best use of them without a middleman. He’s been able to ensure his survival to this point by cynical exploitation of such opportunities.
A network of buyers and informants has developed from the outcome of Sutter’s exploits. However, instead of getting Treg the wealth and fortune he wistfully remembers his antics have only dragged him deeper into a bad situation.
The Kerry Denk is not actually his - Treg ‘liberated’ the vessel during the final collapse of his commander's task force thanks to his hacking skills and perhaps the last scraps of his luck. He paid little thought to the original crew during those fiery last hours of service.
The Kerry Denk has been refitted with a pair of twin rail guns. Sutter has taken on several mercenaries. Where other outfits can be seen to be trying to make the best of a bad situation the crew of the Kerry Denk seek to enrich themselves and at others expense if necessary.
At the rear is this robot mule type thing that provides much of the hauling and engineering duties. It's more like a utility sled than anything else.
I repainted a Phantom Menace Multi-Troop Transport thingy. It was bloomin tiny- that's a 40mm base its on. I think they were made by AMT?

My, my you've been a busy boy!
The mix of vanguard (Zak and Malika) with gw and galaxy parts, topped off with the prows from lord borak? ?
The engines from the Valkyrie rockets , 2nd ed flamers and the chaos smoke launchers are a nice touch too...
It's amazing how a little thing like the Zeus rudders on the dauntless does a lot to bring them up to speed! Subtle but real nice...
But still got some serious work ahead of you as far as painting is concerned.
Don't envy you that.

Man, those cruisers are absolutely gorgeous! So many bitz from various sellers, but you combined them into beautiful vessels that put the originals to shame! Once again, I can only applaud your amazing job on these. Also, mad respect for building some of the connection struts/wings from scratch, that must've been quite a fiddly chore, but the result is stunning. All those tiny little greebly bitz and edges really bring the huge BFG ships to life IMO. I'm really looking forward to seeing these ships painted up

I am very pleased with the way all my different bits have come together so far- particularly chuffed with the engines from flamers and missile exhausts myself! Regarding painting, it's been too darn hot for me to spray any of these babies yet so I've been whittling away at builds. More ships in the pipeline...
Sherrypie wrote:Oh, those are some nice ships you've going there Ragsta! Great to see such variety in parts and provenance.
Thanks so much mate! Praise from the praiseworthy! The variety of bits is what keeps me going- my main source of design inspiration is the Rebel fleet from Return of the Jedi before they jump into hyperspace

My pleasure, mate, it's one of my favourite games and Warhammer genres in general. Stick around for more bwahahahaaa

Thank you, Feisty, really appreciate you, man. The plasticard building is heavily inspired by the insanity of Lord Borak's BFG and Titanicus stuff on his blogs- I am nowhere near the detail he dedicated to his Nyte warships but I think mine will look good once the paint goes down. I have some escort ships and a strike cruiser planned for future scratchbuilds...

I wanted to show signs of hobby life! I have been whittling away at some projects as the year draws to a close. My most herculean one has been painting 57 more infantry for my Flexberg 17th Regiment. I didn't think I was going to expand the battalion (!) by another near 60 troopers (!!) but here we are
I have used pieces from that place plus Stargrave plastics, Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder and Andy's Heresy Miniatures sci fi troopers (I swear I use them all the time). Oh heck wait! There's also Warlord's Greatcoat Germans in there and details from Anvil Industry, mainly shoulder pads, packs and sights to sci fi them up!
The scheme was very Green Army Men but I enjoyed it and it was semi quick, so I'm happy. I haven't finished the bases yet as I have some revamped heavy weapon teams, characters and quintillions of Nids to do at the same time and I'm NOT up for that yet!
The photo isn't the best- I will work very hard to get nice shots of the finished articles. Thank you all.

Thanks, mate, that's exactly the look I was going for! I try to have my Guard look like they have certain regimented standards but with older, newer and stolen kit sprinkled in.
They are for the 40K universe yes. Hail Space King!!

These ain't no Eoferwich mud puppies ya know! The only way we can get these Flenzers to follow orders is if they think they can get something out of it - they think fighting and stealing earns them prowess with their bloody clans!

Glorious looking rag tag bunch! Live the theme of an army cobbled together from bits and pieces they found through the campaign . The army that wins the war won’t be the one that was there at the start after all.
