In North America, you can already find commercials for dildos in between cartoons. I think Trojan has been launching a campaign that includes commercials during Family Guy and American Dad

Also: unless you are being sarcastic, your statement demonstrates a profound lack of understanding of what the Internet is and how it works, on par with Ted Stevens.

I don't think anyone considers Family Guy and American Dad to be kids' cartoons...

Not heard of the animation age ghetto then?

And I don't think the word "kids" is mentioned anywhere as a prefix in the quoted post, but I'm sure glad to see you project your feelings toward animation there.

Well, your dad's gay.

I mean, is that the level of discourse we're aiming for here? If you'd like to drop the 'you're a stupid-head poo-poo face' name calling and explain to me precisely why you think that the digital commons is actually a real thing that exists (outside of the fevered imagination of affluent suburban wannabe anarchists), as opposed to the heavily mediated, adulterated and commoditised functional reality that is today's world-wide web, I'm all ears.

Well, eyes. And keys.

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

First up, either say what you mean, or else don't whine about being taken to task on it. If you meant "children's saturday morning cartoons", then say that. Don't say "cartoons" and project your worldview onto everyone else. Animation isn't exclusively a children's media, nor has it ever been. I think you're clever enough to understand that you should not assume the rest of the world sees things exactly as you do, and thus you shouldn't assume the rest of us view cartoons as being children's programming unless stated otherwise.

Second, if you think my comparison of your statement to remarks made by Ted Stevens is on par with being called a 'stupid-head poo-poo face', then what value is there in trying to hold a dialogue with you? However, giving you the benefit of the doubt, as you're generally above that level, I will extrapolate:

While the Internet is certainly not the Wild West that it may have been at one time, and is in fact now flooded with corporations that ultimately decide what you'll see by virtue of buying up all the landscape in any given direction rather than physically wrenching your neck towards something, your belief that this is not a freedom issue is built on sand. Any time an institution, -particularly a government- tells you what you can or cannot do, it is a freedom issue. In keeping with the Ted Stevens references, let us pretend for a moment that the Internet is, in fact, a large truck. Rather, a more apt description is to pretend that your internet browser is a taxicab. What is going on here, is that the government is telling you that you are not allowed to take that taxicab to certain neighbourhoods, because there is a chance that a child might also take a taxicab there. To make it even more nebulous, the government has not defined the parameters of those neighbourhoods, thus you may be locked out from massive areas.

Just as every business on that destination block might be privately owned, and just as the taxicab most certainly is, the government has no business telling you or the taxicab that you cannot go somewhere because of a tenuous, unfounded and hypothetical belief that someday a child might also do it.
