I'll echo the "simple and (fairly) painless" comment. I was registering for both myself and another, and aside from some occasional lagging, things went quite smoothly. Good choice!

Now, if you wanted to really flatten out the registration issues, you'd separate the 40k events - run registration for everything ELSE first, and do the really big 40k events 24 hours later, by themselves. Or vice-versa.

It's a strange feeling, signing up for Adepticon and NOT for any 40k at all.

Looking forward to seeing what lists you guys come up with this year, there are a lot of options on the table with the team tournament rules

So many options. This year we're picking our armies in a simple fashion.

We're going to hang 16 pinatas around each person each filled with candy related to a specific codex. Blindfold all of us. And then play whack the donkey. Once we break one we'll take off the blind fold and find out what codex we're playing.

Then the captain is going to glue datasheets of applicable super heavies to a board and put it on the other side of a wall and throw a lawn dart over the wall to pick the superheavy.

For normal units we figure throwing darts at unit entries after being spun in a circle 6 times will suffice.

See, easy

I am expecting a bit more synergy in your lists than that! Although maybe just in appearance, not necessarily codex/formation/etc selection. I think that's a big key with this edition of 40k... I don't mind facing something crazy, but hopefully it's something crazy that looks well themed! Still yet to see a good tyranid "knight" conversion, but mad props to the first person to do it

A question concerning the 40k team tournament, are Legacy of Glory from Imperial Armour 2, 2nd edition authorized?

This will be my second Adepticon. I had a lot of fun last year.

Unfortunately, I didn't notice it was open for registration before today. DOH! Anyway, I look forward to seeing you folks.

Horus Heresy Tournament
Warhammer 40K Combat Patrol
Horus Heresy - Tactical Strike - Victory Is Vengeance

Should be fun!

It'll be my 1st and a bit of a departure from my normal gaming experience as it'll be HH, in another country, without the Mrs. using mechanicum.

I'm signed up for the Geek Nation Tours and going to:

Horus Heresy Theatre of War Narrative 19-Mar-2015 11:00 AM
Horus Heresy Tournament 20-Mar-2015 11:00 AM
Horus Heresy Zone Mortalis Boarding Assault - The Scar of Cthonia 21-Mar-2015 10:00 AM
Horus Heresy - Tactical Strike - Victory Is Vengeance 21-Mar-2015 5:00 PM

Now to paint 2000 points of Mechanicum up... (no knights, no titans, loads of robots)

I'm really stoked as this is my first time at Adepticon.

40k Championships
40k Draft Tournament (This thing sounds awsome!)
40k Team

As a complete newcomer, is there anything I should know to make the weekend as smooth as possible for myself and my team? We are all newbies.

Super excited though!

Currently Play/Own

I went with the total Malifaux Track. It should be an amazing year, with Wyrd really cranking out the tournament support.

It is a bit annoying though that there is not quite enough information available about each event. For example no link to rules packs or any indication on how to contact the person or people running the event should one have questions.

Rule questions for the Team Tournament:

In order to include 2+ Relics of the Armoury in the primary detachment, IA 2 second edition states that a Space Wolves army must have a Rune Priest with the Saga of the Beast Slayer (p.243).
With the new SW codex, Sagas are now warlord traits and random and FW did not update or FAQ'ed this point yet...
Would a Rune Priest be enough in order to gain access to 2 Relics of the Armoury in the same detachment?

Also how selecting the Company of the Great Wolf formation affect the Force Organization Chart? is it still required to get the 1+ Troop?

Thank you in advance.

I'm in no way affiliated with the tournament but I can probably answer the second question.

Company of the Great Wolf is a detachment. The TT has it's own detachments you take. You can take equipment from the Champions of Fenris book for your HQ but the detachment in no way affects the TT detachment which is simply:

1 HQ
0-1 Elite
1-3 Troop
0-1 Fast Attack
0-1 Heavy Support

They Shall Know Fear - Adepticon 40k TT Champion (2012 & 2013) & 40k TT Best Sport (2014), 40k TT Best Tactician (2015 & 2016)

thanks a lot,
meaning that only rules and wargears apply to the TT detachment but not the structure..
Since Champion of Fenris does not move Wolf Guards to Troop, i'm still stuck with the 1+ troop.

Unfortunately not even rules apply as they are by detachment, not codex anymore. So just wargear would translate.

So everything pre-7th edition (Farsight, Iyanden..etc) is still valid as they refers to "army" but post 7th isn't (irk, GK, DE, SW....) as they refer to "detachment"....

looks a bit strange to me.

EDIT: by FAQ, Iyanden, Farsight Enclaves are not an army anymore but a detachment.... Interrestingly Black Legion is still an "army"....

got my answer concerning detachments:

The "Wolves Unleashed" is not a legal detachment for the Team Tournament. Every team member's army must utilize the team tournament detachment presented in the Team Tournament rules document (attached). Each team member may also include a single detachment "upgrade" from the list presented. No upgrade may be used by a team member more than once.

i guess it extends to all detachments...

Awesome, Pretty Big (they'd have to give exact numbers but the 40k Team Tournament alone is 500 people), and yes, totally worth it.

This is correct, one team member may utilize a "formation" such as Arjac's Shield Brothers as an upgrade to the normal Team Tournament Force Org, but alternate codex detachments (I.E. those with a variable FoC) may not be used.

Here is a preview from the upcoming FAQ to answer this question:

A Space Wolves Rune Priest acting as a Keeper of Relics, as described on page 243 of Imperial Armour Volume 2, 2nd Edition, is not required to have the Saga of the Beast Slayer.

Hi Chris,
just to make sure because my english reading must be weak today ... is the Grey Knight Strike Force Nemesis formation allowed ? Nothing changes place in the FoC ... just to make sure before ordering those models I still need.

Thanks,

The Grey Knight Nemesis Strike Force is a detachment not a formation, it'd fall under the same category as wolves unleashed or champions of fenris (not being allowed).

When he said variable force org it means a different one than the normal team tournament force org (which the nemesis strike force is, team tourney is 1 hq, 1-3 troop, 1 elite, 1 fa, 1 hs)

Thanks,

Albator,

The Nemesis Strike Force is a Codex detachment and thereby is not legal for the Team Tournament.

A few points of clarification:

1.) A Codex Detachment is defined as any Force Organization chart presented in a codex or the Combined Arms detachment presented in the main rulebook. The "variable" reference here is that there are mandatory and optional choices presented in the FoC. The only FoC available in the Team Tournament is the FoC presented in the Team Tournament rules packet.

2.) A formation is defined as a detachment presented without any variable options. For example Arjac's Shield Brothers. You must take the specified units, no more no less. There are no optional choices available to the player. 1 player may select a formation as an additional upgrade to their Team Tournament FoC. The Mandatory choices for the Team Tournament FoC must still be fulfilled.

And FYI, there are subtle differences between a CAD and the Nemesis Strike Force, mainly 1 mandatory troop choice vs 2, and changes in the available optional Elites, Troops, Fast Attack and Heavy support.

Regards,

Chris
