With a good glance to the Fly Terminator and the Smiling one.

Theres a curious thing. The "Smiling" terminator isn't smiling in the Codex

Spoiler:

What could have happened to remove the smile from a Nurgle follower?

Good to see that the artwork matches the torso perfectly. I'd wager good money that the shoulder pad in that picture can be found on the sprue as well. Can't let those artists have too much freedom after all.

The Terminators are gorgeous (in a disgusting plague-filled way). Easily the best minis of this release.

Actually the torso doesn't actually follow the artwork, most of it is bared flesh but there's armor underneath in the artwork.

Awww, they're ever "purtier" up close....

Really loving the theme each one has going on, and very much hoping that there are at least 1 or 2 alternate fronts to give a bit of variety.

Typhus looks a lot better in this one too. (Although that Nurgling's gotta go) If convention from the deathshrowd holds, the swarm with the smoke should be a separate piece which will be easy to paint separate, otherwise it'll be a nightmare painting on the inside of all those tight spaces.

I was hoping for a few more kits released. At this rate we'll be well into November before we're done with new releases.

The Codex has a few pictures of terminator squads in it, all the combi bolters and CCW are held in the 5 exact same poses in every one. Makes me think there might not be a lot of variety in this kit.

This is the first picture I've seen with two heavy weapons in the squad though so there is hope.

Worryingly, the plague marines mostly appear in blocks of 7's as well.

Loving the on that's turning into a Bug. Very Nurgle, very old school

Been saying for a while that Chaos need more gribble among the spikes. I swear that ever since 2nd Edition, the body horror of Chaos has been unjustly ignored.

Give me tentacles. Give me animalistic features. Gimme GRIBBLE!

(YMMV of course)

Its wierd that there's a lack of decent miniature photos of the latest kits inside the actual codex. The new mini tank and bigger tan (names escape me) hardly feature at all except in a few army shots - no single mini call out shot. Same with the new Termies. Only one decent shot of a few of them.

Is that a sign of the rush to get the codex printed before having painted minis ready ite a more deliberate mice to limit the damage from codex leaks?

I think the lack of variety in DG kits is a compromise for the complex of the poses, the tentacles, pieces of chainmal, cloth, etc...
But, it isn't like Terminators have had much variety historically. Even the best ones like the Deathwing box, has always been pretty strait forward in the ammount of options, because of the style of the armour. The Tartaros and Cathapractii kits, for example, have very very low personalization.

I like the Terminators, still a bit on the fence about Typhus (he seems a bit comical, and the pose is off) but with the codex in hand the Plague Marine kit is the one I am truly waiting for. So many options, so many cool and unique heads as well. Overall model wise I think the Death Guard have been a great release.

My only gripe with typhus is the sculpted smoke and "Jazz hand", and the latter only because I just know it's gonna break if he gets knocked around. While it's pretty much a given that his price is going to be comically high, I hope it isn't too bad since I do actually want this sculpt.

I actually love the terminator design, especially the fact that some of them have Indomintus pattern shoulderpads. It shows that the 10k years in the warp was not kind of the Sons of Mortarion, and that they had to make due over the course of the years with scavenging armor. When I get my hands on some, I may paint it up in different colors to make it look like it came from another chapter.

Don't like Typhus' pose, love the Terminators. Here's to hope there's a nice selection of combi-weapons in the box to make up for the inability to change their poses. Two kits coming my way for sure.

Even though I don't have any desire to start Death Guard, I think I am going to pick up that Typhus. It looks so cool. At that point I might as well get KhĂ¢rn and Ahriman as well.

Love the Terminators, but the mix and match shoulder pads is bugging me a little, I might have to assemble them with matching MK pads if possible!

Typhus is growing on me, I think that with a darker, grubbier paint job the figure will look a lot more appropriate.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the sprues,

then I can decide what I want to pick up, and how many sets to get since i'm just going to be painting for fun I want as much variety as possible (with a bit of converting)

so if I can make 2 or 3 different sets without too much hassle I'll get them, but if it's just headswaps like the deathshrouds I'll stick with one

It's almost as if they don't want to show them off before they go on sale.

I thought we were past this.

A Protoss colony world

I've just bought the DG codex and Mortarion. Haven't had a chance to go through the codex yet, so I'm not sure where exactly I'm going to go with future purchases. It maybe be November before I buy more DG stuff, as I'm now tapped out for this month and next month I've got some other expenses that will sadly have to preclude any 40k purchases. So far I'm thinking I'll probably skip the Deathshrouds, but I do like the Blightlords and Typhus so I'll probably pick those up (just one box of BL; more later if it turns out they are really competitive). Looking forward to seeing what else comes down the pipe!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

yeah, ok...unlike the deathshroud, I will be needing some of those dudes, price be damned...they're just too good ...probably only one box though, at least for now...

that typhus is really starting to grow on me now too...but I already have the forgeworld calas typhon which I've painted up dirty enough to run as 40k typhus...so if they charge a ridiculous price (unfortunately likely), I don't actually need him...we'll see...

Expect Typhus to be $60-$70AUD - same as Kharn/Ahriman

Really keen to see the sprue for Typhus, I love the new model but very much want to repose the "Look at my scythe!" arm in the air. IMO the model would look so much better if the scythe was held outwards like Mortarion.

Did they ever show some multipart plague marines and poxwalkers? How is one supposed to get them without buying more boxed games?

Anyway looks now we are just missing the vehicles the flyers and the characters.

The codex has quite a few shots of the new plague marines, there will be a multipart kit coming for them - wonder if it will be 7-man or 10-man.

I doubt poxwalkers will get another kit, they will probably keep it at the easy to build box of 6 or the 20 in Dark Imperium - which you can get 20 off ebay easily for under $20. They're generic enough to not really need another kit, if you really wanted some extra individuality with them, combine them with some bitz from a plaguebearer box perhaps for arms etc.

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

The new terminators look to be 5 monopose bodies with alternative arms as you can see from the pics below.
The plague marines look a lot better in terms of build variety with seperate legs, torsos, heads, arms, and backpacks.
