Well, blow me backwards....literally just got back from watching the movie. Its awesome by the way, go see it!

However, as a true table top geek, I couldn't help but feel this would make an awesome Table Top wargame. Humans vs the Machines. With such a rich tapestry of characters and machines it would literally run itself.

I wonder if any miniatures companies will eventually take up the Franchise.....Corvus Belli, Privateer Press.....

Man down, Man down....

seems like it is a movie you either love or hate. i havent met anyone who thought it was ok, they either loved it or wanted to gouge out their eyes. I personally enjoyed it.

I thought it had good special effects but the whole time they were fighting that big robot thing I was like that would make a cool necron titan.

Terminator Salvation was the worst movie I've ever payed to see in my entire life.

The action sequences were pretty good, but I can only suspend so much disbelief in order to watch a movie that doesn't involve magic or magic-like powers etc.

If that upsets your fluff stomach, buy a case of "it's just a game"-bizmo and get over it.

The special effects were great. The movie itself was just plain stupid. The plot had more holes than swiss cheese, the characters were thick headed, one dimensional faces and nothing that happened made any sense at all. But the special effects were great, and I suppose thats all you need to sell these days is to tap into that all-mighty endorphine pump and overwhelm with sensation rather than thought.

Two problems with the movie.

1. Not enough tank crushing skulls
2. Not enough Terminator getting hit then smirking and turning head slowly.

Pretty much everything railguns said. Nothing made any sense. All of the characters were flat and stupid.

Bat Manuel, yeah me too. I'm also wondering how the hell they even knew to be after him in the first place.

Spoiler:
They knew to be after him because of the fact that the female doctor from the beginning was a skinjob, just like the TX from the third flick...

Anyways. I really liked it. But then again, I didn't go into it expecting anything as good as Star Trek or with some false expectation that *this* would be an amazing, cinematic masterpiece on par with Schindler's List like some people apparently did.

It really was a good piece of action, and did a pretty nice job of "rebooting" the franchise and explaining how Connor came to be the messiah figure he was to the Resistance.

Wait, that still doesn' explain anything. How does anyone besides John Connor know about Kyle Reese in the first place?

Spoiler:
And I thought she wasn't a skinjob;didn't so and so die and Skynet picked that image because it was familiar to angsty-bot? That scene was before the skynet self-awareness thing. Unless you want to introduce more time travel shenanigans and say that somehow skynet knew that it would need to make more convincing man-robots before it even uses the first manoflauge robots like the t-800 at all to skip going back in time to kill Connor before it even knows he is a threat because they might as well just kill his dad in the present, even though they don't know who his dad is, or even that Connor is in fact a threat yet, and that the t-800, t-1000, and t-x all fail to kill Batman...er Connor.

I hate this series so much, I just come back for the robots.

The best way to explain it:

It's all one great big timetravel clusterf**k.

I'm okay with that when we have robots and explosions
I mean it could be worse, it could be *another* Twili...oh f...

Also, I want to add this:

Shut up about Bale and the "Batman" voice.
It's the same voice he's used since American Psycho. It's his "American" voice, for all intents and purposes.
If the fact that his *voice* being the same as another movie character he played is keeping you from seeing a movie...
Well, there's some issues there.

Didn't Denizen or Grenadier Miniature do a set of Terminator figures, as well as ones for the Alien Franchise?

Actually, I think it might have been TSR.

It was alright-kind nice to model some guard as the resistance.

as plots go, you cant really argue anything because its a farce-skynet would have sent more back, etc, etc.and it was predictable from the trailers.

but as films go it was a bit of a giggle. i cant do the fancy covered typing but i liked the final fight.

it took itself a bit too seriously for me though

I'm with railguns. I went in expecting to see the story of how the human resistance began and why the machines came to the conclusion that they needed to create infiltrating robots in the first place. I think they could have created a much more coherent plot just by filling out the back story more. The whole Marcus Wright thing just felt really arbitrary to me.

Great special effects though. I'm glad they dedicated it to Stan Winston.

I have to say I'm amazed by the massive dislike.

I can only assume those that disliked the film, hated the originals! becuase as far as suspending "disbelief" and considering the plot to be cheesy.....ermm, HELLO! what was the original films about?

1. A Non stop robot covered in skin

2. Being sent back through TIME, like, in a TIME machine....yep, no need to use your imagination there.

3. The lead character (Arnie) amazing acting skill....ermm "I'll be back"....yep, thats not "thick headed" is it?

4. Sky-net sending a liquid robot back in said TIME machine....hmm, I guess that could really happen.

I wouldn't mind if the originals were wonders of cinematic glory, or if the orginal actors were all oscar possibles with an abundance of acting skill, then I would understand the critics....but the films were more of the same concept....just without the TIME machines etc. I'm also at a loss with all the talk about the film being unbelieveable......its a Sci Fi film, by its very nature its mean't to push the boundries of your imagination....if it didn't wouldn't it be a half hour episode of East-Enders, or for our US cousins, BH 90210.....

I still haven't seen it yet...the criticism has been stopping me. I like the robots and special effects though, but I don't want to sit through a movie if it's really that bad and nothing makes any sense. Action's all well and good but it's just not worth it sometimes.

Though Space Mutiny was entertaining too.

yeah,
The plot is full of problems. I think I have to go on a fan site to make sense of it all.

The bit of the movie that got me thinking:
Spoiler:
When SkyNet downloads the video from marcus:
-John says 'we have been at war since before we were born. you killed my father and tried to kill my mother.'
Now this pretty much tells SkyNet that Time travel is possible, but that the Terminator sent back fails?

Now this works well with the SCC TV plot because SkyNet starts to think of other ways to win the war, Like setting up it's network before judgement day.
Terminators are going back and moving all the peices in place to make the war easier.

Panic...
