Well with my new founded chapter, i have been looking into how to make them somewhat more roman, as you have probably seeni hae been looking into roman shields.

But i figured that the shield would obviously not be enough so i drew up a concept idea of how the marines could look, and i was really hoping to get your ideas on them.

This is just a general SM concept fro ma long time ago,

Cheers

The wolf is another roman theme, what with the two brothers romulos and remos being nursed by a wolf in their infancy. I'm sure you could incorporate that into your iconography for the chapter somewhere.

For the ruination of the Emperor's foes, I commit your body and soul to battle. Strike down upon those that defy His divine will, go forth and lay the blood of our enemies at the Emperor's feet."

I was wondering what rule set to use, and i was thinking of the Space Wolves codex, although out dated, it would certainly get the feel of the army with the wolves, and the close combat troops.

I think you could get away with using the normal space marine Codex. After all, the Space wolves have the more berserker feeling to them where as the normal codex has the disciplined feel to it and would fit as every Roman Legion had its own Archers, Cavalry and Artillery attached, not just close-combat legionaries. Assault Squads without Jetpacks could be your close combat troops, with scouts and scout bikers filling in as Auxiliary archers and Cavalry role. Artillery and the engineering side of the Roman army is then the Techmarines and the tanks and Thunderfire Cannons. So it could look something like this...

HQ - Centurion (Captain with a thunky name)
Elites - Dreads and Assault Terminators (To fit with the image you have for the combat shields)
Troops - Auxilliary (Scouts in a Fire support Role)
Fast Attack - Assault Marines, Vanguard Vets and Scout Bikes (Unless you want more Close combat guys)
Heavy Support - Thunderfire cannon, perhaps a Land Raider to get your men into the fray in one piece

Or You could mainly have the Discipline side of the Romans and go with a "Normal" organization of Space Marines but the Roman Image. Tactical Squads as the legionaires laying down an organized fire-drill as other Marines advanced. But this is your choice I suppose I am just offering suggestions.

How are you thinking of doing the armour? Plasticard and such?

Also, First post >.>

Haha for a first post thatis very helpful

The armour is going to be done in plasticard yes

i have set aside a few marines for testing

I also like your ideas on the force organisation giving each unit the role of a professional roman army.

Thanks for the suggestions mate

centurion woudl work pefectly as company ca[tain as centurion is the name for a comander of a 100 men

i like where this is going, hope to see osme stuff together soonish

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

Black Templars. They can get troops with CCW.

I like the idea but I think the pistols should be on the SM hips in holsters instead of in the hand with the shield glued to the gun. It would look better IMO. This is a great idea tho!

What about pistols built into the shields? That way you don't have to lower your guard to fire them.

EDIT: I actually would love to see a force that fought in ranks in 40k, but Space Marines can't take CCWs so they don't make very good Roman footsoldiers in that sense.
