Hi,

At first I need to confess that this is not the actual first one i've touched. About 10 years ago as a young teenager i bought and "painted" a group of chaosmen for fantasy battle. After painting they were drying up at the windowsill when my cat decided to drop them all down. They ripped all apart, not even single one saved. Took me 10 painfull and agony filled years to get past this accident.
This is the first real one because this is first one i actually do something more than just dip in the paint.

So this is my training dummy, main focus on learning diffrent techniques like drybrushing, highlighting and blending. I know theres quite much smears around but I didnt pay that much attension to them right now. The base looks horrible because my first attempt with basing didnt end up as I had planned. I know the pictures aren't the sharpest ones but I think they are good enough to see some details. (I hope).

I'm hoping to get some advices and feedback what was good and what was bad. (Yea the whole thing but no need to mention that )
Thanks for any critique and comments!

ps. My english grammar is all gone, but luckily this is internet! ;p
pss. Should I link the pictures or are they just fine?

On pictures; Check for a macro setting on your camera, it will allow you to capture detail in better focus.

On mini; Looks good! You look like you are getting comfortable with washes, a very useful technique. Are you planning on finishing the base?

Was just going to mention like luna, strange choice of colour but it has been done well.

Granted there are some things to maybe change, like it looks like youve drybrushed the red helmet with gold near the visor, doesnt look too good methinks. I wouldve just stuck with a thin highlight of a lighter red

I think it's a solid, tabletop quality job, Aiow. Certianly, you've got a good foundation on the basics to work from, so when you get more of his squad done, please post more pics. BTW, I really like your color choices here. I think if you get a whole army painted in this scheme, it will look very handsome. As for your English: it's significantly better than any of our Finnish, so don't worry about it

Your painting is good, it really is. However, the model itself looks like it's having a spasm. Its powerpack looks like it's about to fall off, the shoulders are slumped like it was pushed down while the glue was drying. The arm positioning is so far back it looks painful to the Berserker and it interferes with the powerpack. Ironically, I don't see any mold lines. With better positioning, the model would be amazing. I don't think I've mention that the paint job is really good. It is REALLY good, but the model takes away from that. A more realistic or "cool" pose and you'd have models far above table top standard.

Unfortunately, berzerkers aren't very elegant in their poses.

Yes I am going to finish the base. I only had the plasticglue at home at the moment and now I know it doesent fit for basing, at all. Will buy some better stuff for it. Btw. as for the base would it be better to carefully remove the fig from the base and then do it as a plainbase or just have the guy sticking there and trying to get something done? My experience yesterday made me understand why they make the base at first in so many tutorials

About the colors, they were quite randomly chosen, was planning doing a red one but after the black spray I found it realy hard to get a solid red and decided to try green which worked very well. Now I like the green and I am going to stick with it.
I bought this box just to paint something and didnt plan the colors or the position at all, as after 2-3 weeks of reading forums and guides I wanted to do something and learn while doing rather than having a plan to follow.

Yes the helmet visor is brushed with gold and i didnt like that much either, it was good enough for this one, as I said this was only to work on my painting technique. Yes im planning now to paint a group of these green guys, Im not sure what to do with the helmets color tho, maybe ill just keep it dark red to give the group the feeling. Helmet is messy as it was the first area I started painting so it has atleast 8 layers of different colors and the first ones were quite thick ones so it eated the details a bit, but I'll see in the next one how it works when its painted to a fresh one. It will be some day next week that I have something done, will post new pics then.

As with the green theme and little view to CSM as general I think im going with nurgle. I was planning to do some greenstuff training after I get the painting to somewhat decent level and nurge seems to fit for it pretty well.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So I did my second attempt on the base with a better glue. The picture is bit messy but it goods enough to get a grip of what it looks like. Im kinda satisfied with it, as a first try atleast.
