this is is my red corsairs WIP.... i like Bought huron thinking , he loooks cool, but then i found out he was the red corsairs so i decided to make my chaos force red corsairs

can anyone gimme some tips on what Red corsairs features are, like what they should look like, or should i just make it up as i go along as, as they have no aligence to a chaos sect?

Heres what ive made so far.

Red is a good place to start.

EDIT - If you've got access to some back copies of WD, they ran a series of articles on collecting WH40K armies called a A Tale of Four Gamers. One of them did Red Corsairs and bought out the army background quite nicely.

sweet ... ill try and hunt down the mag... ive red some info on them from a WH wiki type site. so hopefully the article in the magazine will be helpful

Thx much..... and i got the colour scheme down pat i just need the features..... ie if the have spikes,teared skin, leather etc .

When you ask about red corsairs features are you asking how to make a fluffy list?

if you are its the simplest fluff possible. essentially follow black legion because similarly to black legion these guys can field anything. they a ramshackle collection of units from different warbands that follow huron. Anything goes! just paint it fire engine red.

I'm not so sure about the rotten looking stuff, I didn't know that the Red Corsairs were nurgle-esque.

and i wasn't going for a nurgle rotten look... i tried to make it look more like skin stiched together, rather than rotting holes and crevices etc.

when i finished i thought... looks nurgly.

The red corsairs a a renegade chapter that is in the business of large scale piracy, their headquarters are in the eye of terror. The are followers of the chaos gods, but only in the most general sense. Their worship is not fanatical, it only serves a medium for power. Under the leadership of huron the seek to plunder the treasure and wealth of the universe. For a fluffy list think of them as just a renegade chapter; cult troops and oblits, but they do notextensively use daemons, spawn, possessed, or defilers. Unit found in the loyalist codex that are also in the chaos codex are your best choice i.e. predators, renegade marines (basic marines), rhinos, vindicators, terminators, assualt marines, bikers, devastors. Hope it helps.

On page 222 of your Rulebook there is a bunch of really good Red Corsairs. 'Eavy Metal is a great thing to aspire to.

PS: That is a fething amazing Jump Pack Lord. It really works with the Corsairs, as they love lightning assaults (but you probably already figured that out).

THey hang out in the Maelstrom, not the Eye of Terror. I doubt they would raid ships for their gold and treasure, but rather for more equipment and slaves. Space Marines from other Chapters are known to join their ranks as well.

my bad malika, i got that part mixed up. but yes, slaves and equipment are probably their primary loot, but being a tyrant lord he more than likely expects tithes of all sorts.

anything you want, I had a red corsaidr army that I copied from GW. I basically took regular marines, painted them in standard chapter colors and put a nice red "X" through the chapter sybols. but yours look good too, they can go either route. Either a basic undivided mercenary army or you could run them as a bunch of AWOL marines who truned mercenary/pirate.

Ah, an excellent choice in Chaos renegades I must say!

Since you're looking for information on them, it's best to read through the 40K rulebook, Planetstrike, the current Chaos codex and online.

It really does depend of what "era" of Red Corsair style you're most into before I can give any real modelling and painting advice. I will say that if you lightened up your Huron's flesh a bit and didn't add quite so much flayed skin, you'll be on the right track.

Not to brag, but if you check out the first link in my signature, you'll see the start of my Red Corsairs (a cross between Space Marines with crossed out iconography and the pre-4th Edition bright red and black armour with purple detailing (as in my current avatar of Huron)).

Keep going either way, I like to see how other Red Corsair painters / players go about their force.

Thank you. No, there's no HQ yet but there will be eventually alongside Terminators too.

Enough about me, I forgot to add that mixing in Space Marine parts is always a good idea too.
