Right, my guess is that we'll see more old marine models. Personally I'd enjoy the return of the female commissar and the Praetorians.

With the release of the new plastic Imperial Guard Command Squad I'd like to see the metal Cadian Senior Officer kept in production.

I just won an auction for one... they look super neat. I might start collecting more of those. I'd petition for some of those to be reissued.

yeah The female commissar would be nice the game does seem some what sexist I mean they don't have Manny female soldiers besides Sister OF Battle Not Even Female Orks But The commissar would really be nice especially if they remodeled her with a power sword or Bolt Pistol. I would not go back to for to things like feral orks returning though just makes the game harder and more complex.

Hmm. Good question really.

I'll give another vote for the Genestealer Hybrids and Brood Brothers, with the relevant sprues!

Even if it's a limited run (limited in time, not quantity) it's still a stonking idea.

I'd go for Praetorians, the original Thudd Gun and Squats, of course.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I'm doubtful anything that requires old plastics will get re-released. The plastic parts require a multi-thousand dollar investment on their part as opposed to a couple hundred for a single new production mold for old metals, assuming they don't have old ones that are still good. This is courtesy move on their part, and probably not something they will dump too much effort or money into.

I also doubt they will bother with multi-part models unless there is a huge demand. Even if they did, their overhead would require they charge more than they ever did when the model was originally available. The old 2nd Ed Land Speeder, has as much metal as the thunderfire if not more. It'll end up being $60-$70 because of the low volume of production.

Not necessarily. GW have shelf space in stores for a finite number of models. Each new sculpt will have an expected sales total, and be priced accordingly (hence why the low sale volume special characters cost a fair bit compared to a similar sized metal model).

Dusting off the old Landspeeder, purely to keep examples the same, wouldn't involve a great deal of cost. Dig out the mold, cast up a couple of hundred, box them, sell them. If it proves particularly popular, cast another couple of hundred. Good thing about the metal models is they can be melted down and recast into something else if they've sat around for a while gathering dust.

I'm fairly sure they would still have the old plastic molds kicking around somewhere. Makes little sense to ditch the old molds after all.

SO multipart models are likely to be available, and with only a slight price premium (there will be one!). And the plastic arms should still be doable in a similar way.

You obviously haven't worked in any industry that does injection molding.... I have. Those things are heavy requiring special arrangements for storage and require a degree of care irregardless of use. Just storing them you have to regularly oil an care for molds or they rust or deteriorate to a point of being unusable. One reason GW killed the bits selling was because alot of the older molds were dying and they could justify redoing all of them, thus it isn't as simple as just pulling off a dusty shelf of unlimited holding a mint condition 20 year old mold. They will likely make a single new mold for each model and run it till the mold dies. Even just retooling the old injection molds, the plastics would require a quantity exceeding a couple thousand to justify the cost.

When I say "huge demand" I don't mean relative to their normal releases but to the different alternatives they could include in their collectors edition releases; there very well maybe that level of demand but it will have to be higher than the demand for something simpler and easier to do. The volume of models for their collectors edition models, are small relative to their standard range models. If they produce 20,000 Thunderfires and they have to sell it for $50, then for a model like a 2nd edition landspeeder that they only produce 500 models of would need to be sold for about 40% more per model, to cover and justify their setup, production cost, and overhead. If they produce more than the "500" they will reduce the price they'd have to sell them for, but run the risk of selling it for too little, because of the cost of storing the models. Despite what you think storing models and storing molds add up, hundred of dollars a month. That isn't just a measure of actual cost but opportunity cost in tying up resources into something that is sitting instead of selling. This problem is exactly why GW canned the bits and old minis, the way they had been done.

I have to assume GW will TRY to be smart about this and run it like any business venture. They will have a budget and a limited amount of time and effort they can spend on reproducing old models. Who ever GW has responsible for this will undoubtedly be bombarded by requests, so when he has to decide between just the 2nd edition Landspeeder and 10 other individual infantry sized minis you can under stand why the demand for the landspeeder has to out weigh that of those other ten models combined.

I'm cynical, so I doubt we'll see anything more than maybe some mid to late 90s Marines, certainly nothing you can't pick off eBay.

Yeah and in that regard it doesn't help. Unless someones absolutely trying to get rid of something, if GW's price is higher there is little reason to sell it for less and if GW's price is less than current market price of those old minis it kills the majority of the ebay market for them.
