im tired of readin all you gitz dissing the tankbusta's
you can put them is a transport (battlewagon is best )
they will stay inside - as you have full control during the movement phase (you dont disembark)
then glory hogs comes in during shooting and assault phases
you must shoot at closest enemy armour, which you probably want to do anyway (or cannot shoot because the wagon went more than 6" )
now in assault phase you cannot assault any vehicle as you are still mounted and are not allowed to assault from a vehicle
now keep it open topped so you can slow down and unload 12 rokkits,3 bomb squigs from inside av- 14 front
add boarding planks to use pk and/or tankhammers
another nice touch here is a bi mek and kff
now go afead and give them a second try
what would the mad doc grotsnik do in here as well is a different question entirely

The problem is though, that this unit costs a hell of a lot for 12 rokkit shots.

yeah, why spend all that effort making rokkits playable, when your nobs have lascannons strapped to their fists. Everybody knows you can make them work. The real question is can you make them work cheaply? That is impossible, they cost too many points even before you get them the child safety crib.

Not to mention that using up a BW for Busta transportation means 1 fewer AV14 Loota bunker.

The biggest problem my horde encounters is not medium armor, but the heavies. Leman Russes, Railheads, etc. Lootas can't touch Leman Russes, and everything else they can kill, I'm not having trouble with. However, a couple smacks with a Rokkit Hammer makes short work of literally everything but Landraiders. They can take a Nob with a PK and Boss Pole, so they aren't slouches on close combat. Plus I don't have to spend points on units to save Lootas in the back from getting picked off, which is points saved in my mind. The point is, they fit into my list by being slogging melee anti-tank units in massive ball of slogging melee units.

Regardless of whether or not you consider them to be a feasible choice, and there are good arguments on both sides, you have to look at what they are competing with, namely kommandos and lootas. Whether or not you can figure out a good way to deal with their LOS issues, which can be done, I'd still rather take lootas.

Ah, the "LOS issues." What are those again? The guys with anti-tank weapons have to fire at tanks if they can see them? They don't have to fire at the nearest tank, just a tank (a common misconception). At first I was mocking, then I realised I forgot what the LOS issues actually were...

Agreed,I always found it funny that that was an issue, what else would you have your tankbustaz fire at?,I always wondered if some of the ridicule tankbusters recive now is due to people using them to MEQ hunt before the new rules.

The " LOS Issue" is the fact that they HAVE to assault an enemy tank they can see, even if it happens to obviously be more than 6" away and behind a giant squad of stuff that is going to kill your Tankbustas. This is covered in their Glory Hogs rule. Added to this is the fact that the only way to avoid Glory Hogs is to burn points and transport slots on vehicles that would be better utilized by a different unit (Lootas, Boyz).
I always wondered if some of the ridicule tankbusters recive now is due to people using them to MEQ hunt before the new rules.
Nobody uses Tankbustas to MEQ hunt. Lootas do it far, far better.

I ment prior to 5th ed/new lootas rules etc,I recall a great many Ork players MEQ hunting with tankbustaz,of course this was also prior to the "glory hogs" rule as well.

Well, so what if they have to Assault it? All their weapons are assault, and if they are out of range the assault fizzles. If they ARE in range, you just bagged yourself a tank, GJ. If you don't want them assaulting a certain tank, fire your rokkits at a different tank. Now they can't go and pop that Rhino, only to be killed by rapid fire or charge past those freshly disembarked Assault Termies.
About that MEQ hunting, I got it and my sarcasm didn't quite trasmit. Oh well...
