What I mean by that is, is it worth the model cost (Not Point cost). For the same price of 1 valk, I can get a Russ and something else.
Is it really worth buying, or is it just too easy to take down.

p.s. I'm building a semi-mech list.

The Vendetta is retardedly cost-effective, both in terms of points and opportunity cost. Hellhound variants are also good, but unless you're building a list around them I prefer the former over the latter because of the dirt-cheap lascannons + transport capacity. There's a lot to be said for last-minute objective grabs at 24".

Yes unless you bring it on the board next to a soulgrinder, and whiff you shooting on said said Soulgrinder. Then its bad day at black rock time (tee hee).

No doubt that the Vendetta is an absolutely fantastic model and very cost effective, but is it a MUST HAVE in a semi mech army?
I've noticed that a lot of top lists have EITHER LRBT's or Ven/Valks. Is there room for both?
I'm a huge fan of lots of pie plates, so Tanks are a must have for me

There is room for both, but you have to build the list specifically around that. Basically all of your infantry are going to have to be in Valks/Vends to get out of the way, and paying 130 for a transport is a bit pricey for the massive lack of survivability they have (easy to see, low armor). I wrote up a list for someone that was an Armored Company/Air Calv mix, let me find that...

Company Command Squad, Chimera with hullmounted Heavy Flamer, 105
Veterans, 2 Grenade Launchers, Chimera with hullmounted Heavy Flamer, 155
Veterans, 2 Grenade Launchers, Chimera with hullmounted Heavy Flamer, 155
Veterans, 2 Grenade Launchers, Chimera with hullmounted Heavy Flamer, 155
Veterans, 3 Meltaguns, Demolitions, 130
Veterans, 3 Meltaguns, Demolitions, 130
Valkyrie Assault Carrier, 100
Valkyrie Assault Carrier, 100
Leman Russ Battle Tank, hullmounted Heavy Flamer, 150
Leman Russ Battle Tank, hullmounted Heavy Flamer, 150
Leman Russ Eradicator, hullmounted Heavy Flamer, 160

This is for 1500, and I think its like 20 points under so you can play with the weapon loadouts. This much more Armored Company than Valks, and you could shift the ratio, but I felt a more Armored Company base is sturdier.

Ooo, that looks pretty good to me. The only thing I'd want to change is the LRBT's. I really had my heart set on the Punisher and Executioner with plasma Sponsons. With pask being in one of em, depending on who I'm playing, and where I need the extra BS and crack shotting.

Now that I look at it, the glaring weakness is anti-TEQ. It might be worth it to drop a Chimera Vet squad to make one of the LBRTs an Executioner, which would free up points to get everyone else better weapon loadouts. I just wanted to squize in as much armor as possible. I'm semi-concerned you'd be down on scoring capability, so on Objective missions you'd need to be more careful with the Demolition squads. A Punish is a bad deal though. Hilarious to model and roll for, but anything you'd kill with it is vastly easier done with a Battlecannon.

I guess, I never really thought of the battlecannon being more effective in that regard. I was going to use the Punisher more for my MC killer (Regularly play against DP's, Avatar, And other wonderful deamon annoyances, so I figured with pask, they would have little to no chance. BS 4, maybe 12 hit, re-roll to wound. Good chance of taking off atleast 3 wounds.

Might drop just one vet squad in chimera. Free up some points, plus it works out almost perfect for me budget wise.

So long you find a way to negate their armor saves

I'm going for a tasty executioner with plasma cannon sponsons with pask... mass str 7 ap 2 template party

The problem with the Punisher is that you have to pay for Pask to get it on par, and then it is good against only one thing (MCs). It is your army, but with the conversion being a tidius process I'd like to help forewarn about its problems. To be honest, an Executioner can put the hurt on MCs much better, as you are throwing out 5 S7 AP2 templates, which will wound easier and ignore armor. It'll chew through most things with those templates, but then again, it is the most expensive tank. The LBRT is a tried and true warhorse, so keep atleast one in there.

If you are going with Leman Russ tanks then the standard and the Executioner are the best ones in the list because they have the range and fire power combined with AP to deal with all targets you will face. All the rest are either short ranged or only great against certain targets.

As for the Valkerie and Vendetta...they are great in numbers, but not so hot in small quantities. the most effective lists I have seen with them have 6 or 9 of the same thing. 6 Vendettas in 3 squads of 2 give you enough anti vehicle shots to drop pretty much anything you will see on the table. 6 Valkeries with rocket pods will drop 12 pie plates that will kill anything not MEQ in large quantities. Even with scatters there will be enough that hit to really hurt your opponent.

And DarkHound...a vet squad with 2 grenade launchers and a chimera costs only 135. So combined with the 20 leftover points you already have you can easily bring that Eradicator up to an Exterminator with plasma sponsons and lay down the justice.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

I think Valks are better, you take a multilaser and rosket pods, so you can move 12 and fire everything, (anti infantry) then drop vets with melta for anti tank.

Just my thoughts

Alright, so I made 2 lists. I was keeping in mind the armies I play in my area (Not competitive, just for fun), and came up with one list for 1500, and one list for 1000 (more of a foot slogging list) using the models I have coming in the mail, which all fit into my budget. If you'd like to make suggest, please keep it within the models I have listed in either army. Thank you!

If you play with lots of high terrain, and objectives sited on the top levels, then they're REALLY worth it.

Why?

BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY WAY YOUR TROOPS CAN DISEMBARK

If you wanted to be foolish like that, they can still disembark through the Grav Chutes.

The lists look very solid.

EDITED for lack of looking.
