Can a unit of Burna Boyz all fire their templates, even if some of their own unit is underneath the template? Like if you had two ranks of Burna boyz after disembarking.

I'm leaning towards no, as the only way you ignore your own unit is for LOS purposes but my brother's pretty adamant about it being yes.

You lean in an excellent direction my good sir

You cannot fire the burnas that would result in some of your own unit being under the template (as orky as that would be). This is the reason why people put them in battlewaggons (as you place 1 template and multiply the hits by the number of burnas in the unit)

If they need to disembark and shoot just make sure you stagger them properly to fire between each other. Best method is just drive-bys

Placement is about the best way of making sure they can all fire (why i only take 12 per unit)

Yup. Rules for templates explicitly forbid hitting any of your own models. Drive-bys from an open-topped transport tend to work much better.

You can, however, forbid the models who would be firing on their own units to fire to get atleast SOME shots off. Then when you assault the ones that didn't fire now have Power Weapons. Wooh!

I had a few questions to ask about the burnaz if you don't mind me hijacking your thread.

I have yet to try a burna drive-by. Using an open-topped ork vehicle, do you get to pick wherever you want to place the templates as long as they're touching the hull? (Including the front of the vehicle)

Also, According to the codex, if not shot in the shooting phase, it can be used as a power weapon in assault with the following profile: Str: 4, AP: 5. Is the strength still modified by furious charge? And do you get the same number of attacks a shoota boy would get? So a burna on the assult would be Str 5, AP 5, A 3.

No, there is no ap in cc, a power weapon ignores all armor, that profile is for shooting the burna, a burna who charges would have 3 S4 power weapon attacks, while a burna who did not fire the burna in the previous shooting phase would get 2 S3 power weapon attacks, because of furious charge, the S3 of the burna is augmented not the S4 of the gun.

No, when firing multiple template weapons from a open topped transport, you place ONE (1) Template in contact with the hull and multiply the number of hits by the number of templates firing. So if for example, you have a 15 man unit of Burnas, you place 1 Template and get 5 hits. You then Multiply that by 15 and resolve 75 Hits

....this is becausey ou MUST place the template so it covers as many models as possible. Once you have done this once, all other templates MUST cover the same area, meaningy ou only need to place it once.

Not just Tac Squads. Run those hits vs. most squads and you get cinders. 50 IG in a blob squad, 7 termes, 30 orks, etc..
I'm really surprised more ork players don't use the burna wagons as they seem to be very devastating

The main problem is the change in 5th that means the Waggon can only move 6" if the Burnas want to fire, which makes the Waggon more vulnerable, and harder to Pull the manoeuvre off.

Stick a Big Mek with a KFF and a Burna in the mix if you want to go all out. AV14/11 with a 4+ save, some guns and ALL THOSE TEMPLATES isn't such a bad deal. It isn't even that expensive.

Oh, I agree. Just make sure to stick Armour Plates (So it gets there) A Deff Rolla (to do some damage) and a RPJ (So it can move 7") and you're sorted
