It's good. I really enjoy Wraight's 30K stuff, his 40K stuff isn't as good imo but LoS is one of the better ones. I found one of the threads in the story to be really quite grim and depressing, which can be positive or negative depending on your perspective. They did a good job with the audio version too, I definitely recommend LoS.

It’s the audio of the month so I might grab it. It’s equal to another month of Audible really so spades that for something else (though I still have two built up)

This book is well loved. Chris is brilliant but I can’t say I connected with this one. I’ve tried it several time’s and never finished it. Can’t really say why. I’ve tried it on audible and returned it. That’s probably because of the reader John Banks who I’m not a fan of. I will finish it someday but I’ve found it tough going!

I had similar. Could not go past X pages. Normaly I like Chris' books but this one was difficult to go through. Perhaps just Death Guard post Heresy is not for me?

Interesting mix. I’ll take the risk for the price.
I like Wraight as an author and have no issues with Banks as a reader.

We shall see how it goes.

There's a new audio Humble Bundle available for Black Library products.

Additionally, from Forbiddenplanet.com, it appears Helsreach will be the second release under the Warhammer Masterworks label.

Looks like moody head shots will be the theme for the covers.

Finished audio Sons of Behemat-ok story but nothing special, and the voice acting was sometimes lacking, especially when it should be multiple people shouting (it heard like 2 trying to pretend 5 or more).

Same here, finished Sons of Tvojumat audiobook. It was like reading the first Realmgate Novels, with an underline of “hey, every army can ally these, so buy them” I could’ve rather saved the money on something better. But hey, what could you expect from a no name writer...
2 more hours until Luther pre orders!

Ordered 2 Luthers 8 minutes in and it hasn't sold out yet. Guess it's because it's Luther and not that many know him?

Sold out now. And many Protestants will be surprised and disturbed.

Actually, this took quite some time to sell out.

Maybe it's just because it's Gav who somehow manages to be the worst Dark Angels writer despite being the premier Dark Angels writer.

I passed on Luther, although I will get the regular edition I’m sure. Ordered The Reverie though, very excited for a new Peter Fehervari novel.

Is his stuff good then?
I’ve not gotten round to any yet.
Was working through all the Severina Raine stuff, but already steeped aside for the Lion.

I do have his book before this though.
And anything from the Humble that may be his..?

Remind what Dark Angels stuff Bill King did?

Phi Kelly wrote War of Secrets, so I feel like he should be pretty high up on the list.

Ordered 2? Well done you. Are you an eBay scalper that makes the hobby that little bit more sour for many folk, or is at present for someone??

"Scalper" is hyperbolic for a person that buys two of a thing and then sells one of them imo.

The Infinite and the Divine - I stopped after 100 or so pages and started skipping them being extremely bored (the ending and the whole story being predictable too). Basically it I had a feel of a just a longer version of the short story War in the Museum. People who expected more alien Necrons will also be dissapointed because there are just metal not Egyptian humans bickering with each other. Recommended only if you really need to read everything Necrons related.

Nah, I will just keep it and trade it for some other LE I might want and miss in the future. Or just sell it for msrp+fees for someone who missed it

Are Dark Angels books supposed to be good? Seems like that would miss the point.

The new Novellas are £6 each, which is 1/3 the cost of a hardback, so not a terrible price...but It still seems to completely defeat the point of them I think. They've gone from a very cheap inexpensive collectable series, to more of a luxury version at twice the price and in a way that doesn't fit in with the rest of them. I really hope they bring out a paperback version otherwise it's just a baffling decision.

Saw there's a Black Library art print advent calendar too, but can't see anything showing what sort of thing they're like. Have they not previewed any?

Its A3 but they don't tend to preview much - part of it is it being a surprise. but you can expect them to be their normal high quality art prints. There's only about 1500 of the sets though and at £50 its not cheap. Sadly its the kind of thing I'd like but as an Xmas gift, but because GW only luxury prints them by the time it gets near Christmas they are long long gone.

I do agree about the Novellas, we can hope that GW does release the paperback versions later as normal with others. I'm also sad to see so few compared to the previous releases; but that could be in part Corona causing some issues (perhaps though you'd think writing would be an easy one to keep going during lockdowns unless it was limited by access to things like professional formatting software and archives of information so that stories were correctly written etc...)(

Last years advent calendar was something I wanted but didn't buy, seems they go for quite a bit now so considering getting this years. I like art prints but so far the only W40K things I have are the ones given for store anniversarys with a £50 spend, i'm not sure how these compare to those. I can't see anything mentioning what sort of paper or card they come on, even.

At £2 a print it doesn't seem like a bad price really, although I am wondering just how far back for book cover art they might go, there's plenty of classic stuff that would be nice and I don't overly like AoS myself, so i hope that would include some WHF stuff.

My wife bought me last years calendar. I loved it. I got two of them framed and left the back not taped up so I can change them. A year on I haven’t changed them! It was fantastic but I won’t be getting it this year, probably because of all the books being released in such a short period at the minute. Certainly would recommend the calendar to anyone who wants something a little different from chocolate or Lego!
