Spawn of Chaos

Hey guys im new to eldar. I've had the codex for a while but i've just decided to start actually buying and playing the army.
HQ:
Eldrad
Troop:
DA, 9 man + Exarch, 2 shuriken catapults, bladestorm
in
Wave serpent, scatter
DA, 9 man + Exarch, 2 shuriken catapults, bladestorm
in
Wave serpent, scatter
Heavy:
Wraithlord, wraithsword, scatter
Falcon,shuriken cannon
Total 1000
My idea is to sit in the tanks as long as I can and then make a mad dash for the objectives. Tho, I havent much vs eldar so I dont know how they work or what does or doesnt work well for them. I've read many posts and articles on them so I think this will work. But like I said I dont know. Any ideas, thoughts, or help at all would be great.

ive played with eldar for a couple months now, and got eldrad specifically for this job, and i found it to work well, especially vs hoard armies.
keep him in 1 of the WS's with the avengers. move both WS forward together
move up so your within 18"
get out, fortune both DA squads, Doom whatever you want to get rid of.
shoot and move back untill you can move back no more. then hop back in your WS and move to your next target.
and another thing...what do you intend to do against vehicle's??
consider swapping the scatters with TL-bright lances
hope this helps

Looks pretty good, but Eldrad might be slightly overkill in that size. You could have 1 lesser seer for a more specific purpose, and spend some more points on other upgrades/units.
Example:
HQ:
Farseer-55
RoW-10
Guide-20
Doom-25
Stones-20
=130
5 Fire Dragons-80
(go in Falcon)
Not saying that's the best way to do it, but I am saying you might want to think of the possibilities a non-Eldrad seer opens up for you.
List looks good overall though.
Edit-
@Gorechild- Scatter laser has a better chance of popping a rhino than a B.lance. Larger AV values should be handled by the Pulse laser, and at 1000 pts, there shouldn't be that many anyway.

a fair point, im more used to 1500/2000 pts so dont think of scatters as anti vehicle weapons.
another thought, maybe swapping the Wraithlord for 2 war walkers with 2 scatters each? same point cost

I like this idea. Outflanking units in smaller games can win the whole thing for you. Also, the wraithlord has the wraithsight issue.

If you want to do that then drop Eldar and grab a fortune / doom seer and grab 5 man squad of DA in TLBL WS (x3 or more) and then maybe some 3x GJB units and a Fireprism. TADA! Seer rides with one of the squads and you win!

I also agree there. In 1000 pts a 2 prism list could be serious trouble for a number of different opponents.

Thanks for all the tips guys.
@EzeKK
what is GJB stand for?
@Old Man Ultramarine
I thought about fireprisms and i see your point. I know a lot of people do that but i've played CSM and spam obliterators. More of less the same thing. It got dull, thats why im starting this army. It looked hard to master and fun as hell. Tho I will buy Fireprisms just in case.
@Gorechild
War walkers...i hadnt thout about those. Thats and interesting idea...what about eldar MLs? That way they can take tanks and horde both at low point and higher point value games.
@Iboshi2
I can see why a farseer would be better. I just thought that one more power a turn would make up for his point cost. hmm are fire dragons realy that good? they seem kind of like a one shot deal to me. But then I play vs almost all SM, CSM, and Necrons. But im new so maybe im missing something.
What do you guys think about adding some Striking scorpions, or Howling Banshees? It seems to me that Harlequins are the way to go...but to make them effective costs so much. and wraithguard seem like a lost of fun...if i got the points for them lol. Like I said before thanks for all the advice. And keep it comeing. I love the ideas.

It lets you stay mobile, and also lets you do tricky things (like jump back behind a building in the assault phase, HA Cover save! You thought your objective was safe way over there? HA Turbo Boost/move12 and shoot!) Edit: oh, and T4, don't forget that. It also fits craftworlds that have fast moving strike forces like Saim-Hann does.

Well, as already said, replace Eldrad for an ordinary Farseer.
I'd consider the following army:
Farseer w/ doom
10 Dire Avengers
Serpent w/ stones, shuricannon
10 Dire Avengers
Serpent w/ stones, shuricannon
6 Fire Dragons
Serpent w/ stones, shuricannon
6 Fire Dragons
Serpent w/ stones, shuricannon

Why two groups of fire dragons? Why not one group of fire dragons and one group of Banshees?
Other than that I like the list idea, tho I might have to point up the farseer a little bit.

Well, I'd keep the army purely shooty.
Such an army is very efficient and easier to handle than an army containing assault elements.
Setting up an effective charge for the Banshees can be rather tricky.
Note that the Banshees must disembark from a stationary transport so that they are able to charge.
The enemy could block the exit ramp so that they cannot get out of the Serpent.
The Farseer has a pure supporting role.
Don't expect too much from her.
Therefore, I'd keep her as cheap as possible.

If you wanna do that, You may want to see if you can fit a seer council into your list. It's an expensive unit, but it moves fast (on jetbikes), and rocks in close combat.

Wouldnt the jetbikes be a big target in this list tho? With so many tanks flying around the bikes would be a easer target to kill and be the center for fire.

A Seer Council should be reserved for larger games.
In my above list, you could replace one FD squad by a Guardian Jetbike unit with shuricannons.
Jetbikes are fun to play as they can move at the end of the shooting phase.

Casting fortune, guide and doom all happen before the turn starts, so you can't do this exactly as stated.
You can fortune the unit with eldrad in the WS, but not the unit in the other WS, since you can't target units in vehicles.
But you can doom units not in vehicles while in a vehicle.

SO if i understood you right sbeasley I can cast any power that doesnt need LOS inside a WS on a unit in that same WS and any unit not in a vehicle outside the WS. Right?
What about other vehicles.....i've looked throught the codex and the 40k rule book and i cant find where it says so. I most likely just overlooked it. But I cant find where it tells you.

You need line of sight. If a unit is inside their vehicle, you don't have line of sight to them, period. (So, you can't fortune your banshies while they are in a wave serpant, nor doom a tactical squad still in it's rhino) And I donno if you can fortune a vehcile....what benefit would you get from that?

Yes you can guide vehicles, if he can see them (from the hull of the Wave Serpant he's in) Same for the dire avenger unit and dooming the unit. (Before it made it sound like you were trying to cast a power on a unit that was inside a transport, which you cant do most of the time)
Maybe this belongs in YMDC now lol.

lol ill post it there when I get off work. Break is over so i got to go. Automatically Appended Next Post: ok i posted the question under "can a farseer do this"
and this is my new idea for a list...
HQ:
Farseer, doom, fortune, stones
Elites:
Fire Dragons 5man
Troop:
DA 9man+Exarch, 2 shuriken, bladestorm
in
WS, scatter, stones
DA 9man+Exarch, 2 shuriken, bladestorm
in
WS, scatter, stones
Guardian Jetbike Squadron 4man
Heavy:
Falcon, Eldar ML, stones
Total: 997
Farseer rides with a DA unit and Fire Dragons are in the Falcon. What do you think? Better? Worse?

Well, I'd drop the Falcon for another Serpent.
Falcons are only good if you give them a holofield.
The Jetbike units should have a shuricannon.
Otherwise, this unit is rather useless up to grabbing objective in the last turn; but which turn is the latest?
The Farseer should have doom.
Fortune is not a must have.
