People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

A more appropriate title might be, "what super-heavies or other large models will be released by GW next year?" They've already mentioned earlier in the year that more will be forthcoming. This year we got the Shadowsword and Stompa in March. If anyone has some news on what large models might be coming in 2010, many of us would like to hear it.

This was the result of an accidental multiple-post due to "server hang" when trying to post once. Please delete as desired. Weird, because there's usually just an append to the last post when there are mere seconds between clicks. This has never happened to me here before.

Well there was talk of a Nw Trygon, which we will probably see in conjunction with the new Nids.
As for the thunderhawk, who knows? But hopefully soon, as it is rumored to already exist.

Last I heard, Games Workshop mentioned at one of their `in people only' seminars that it was not going to happen any time soon. They just do not currently have the resources to produce the new plastics for 2-3 armies and do a Thunderhawk in a single year.

The operative word being "currently".
GW can turn on a Thunderhawk at any time, but simply choose not to because of the disruption to their production lines. Also, because they make more on a resin model at the moment.

Space Marine planets, planets vital to the Space Marines, planets vital to the fluff, and planets that the Space Marines look at are all immune to Tyranids. Excepting of course the Space Marine chapters (Lamenters and Scythes of the Emperor) that for some reason can't fight.

Page 24 of the Tyranid Codex begs to differ.
Including a theory put forth that all the Deathworlds are planets that were, at one point, in the processes of being harvested when something stopped it. It's the theory behind Catachan Devils, the Kraken, and other big gribblies.

If I had to bet money, I would say a Space Marine friendly "Super Heavy" has to be forthcoming at some point. Economics would dictate that releasing a product for your best selling "line"... Space Marines... is the intelligent thing to do.
Of course... this is GW we are talking about.

I have it on a very reliable source that the major problem they're having in doing a plastic Thunderhawk is configuring the sprues. As of now it would take a horrendous amount of sprues to do, which has problems in manufacturing, packaging and distribution, but they are trying hard to do this.

If GW can move $300 Battleboards, and produce Baneblade / Shadowsword / Stompa, along with Imperial City and Fantasy Castle, they can produce Thunderhawk without any problem.
The idea that a Thunderhawk would be more than 2 Baneblades worth of sprues and not fit in the original Baneblade box is kinda silly. The Baneblade fits in a classic GW white box, and the original box was literally twice as big as it needed to be.
GW just hasn't decided things have reached a point whereby the *need* to pull that last lever, because, once they do so, there's no going back. It's a huge cash infusion that needs to be timed against a Space Marines / Apocalypse Christmas Holiday release. It's a marketing challenge, not an operational one.

The sprues are already there, or is the spotting of them at a GD or some other even a big fantasy now?
It's all about timing. I'm thinking surprise surprise December if they want to end the year with a bang or just another wave release for Apocalypse as with the IMPOSSIBLE TO DO* Stompa and the WASTE OF RESOURCES* that is the Shadowsword / Stormlord.
* Not my descriptions.

The voices in my head told me they're gonna surprise us real soon with a new awesome apocalypse model and it will be either a thunderhawk or a warhound. My guess is warhound, so they can make an extra sprue and have a chaos version too, but they'll probably just do what they did with the Bastion kit and throw in a sprue full of chains and spikes, because chains & spikes = chaos.

Ditto.
Of course, I love Apocalypse and I love going over the top, so I'd buy 4(to to Spikify, 2 to stay un-spiky). Because Warhounds operate in teams.
