I have 5 or 6000 points of CSM and I am starting to build a chaos daemons nurgle army for s&g, but I had a thought at the store the other night while playing an apocalypse game.

We do 6000 per side, no superheavies. If I take Typhus with a nurgle terminator retinue in a raider, A second raider full of nurgle terminators, a large quantity of winged, mon daemon princes, and a bunch of large pm squads in rhinos, their kills should count for epidemeus and his effects should work for them, correct?

Between both armies I should be able to field 10 princes, Ku'gath, typhus, and a bevy of nurglings and plague marines just waiting to get pumped up. The terminators and land raiders will create such a target rich environment that by the time the opponent has dealt with all of the princes and fat daemons the troops will be nigh unstoppable.

Is this interpretation of the rules correct?

It's Apocalypse. I do not see the problem?

Yep, Anything Nurgle counts for the Tally.

However it is Apocalypse, you should probably make sure it isnt going to be too overpowered...

I will play a game to see how it rolls. I will be facing 2000 guard - mostly russ's and griffons, 2000 crimson fist drop pod - lots of sternguard and dreads, and 2000 vulkan with 2 raiders full of th/ss termies and mm/hf speeders and dreadnoughts.

It should do well, it it should win if I can get stuck in fast, but those three builds together are very tough. I will have to take chosen in rhinos with meltas and MoN and a couple of melta toting raptor squads with MoN to try to deal with all of the armor. The princes need to be in combat all of the time to avoid all of the big guns.

This has popped up about 6 times.

Nurglitch's rules were written for the Demon codex, not for apoc. Apoc has a very open ended rules system, and is very, very open to abuse. It was written that way to facilitate taking all of your models, setting up cool scenarios, etc. Not to necessarily abuse the system. If your group likes to play Apoc in a 'no mercy, anything goes, RAW, and nothing is too cheesy' style, then Nurglitch is insane. It's easy to get enough kills that by turn two your stuff is unstoppable, and nurgling bases take down carnifexes.

Take flank march and then just ram your whole army onto his board edge. That works pretty good as well, along with warp rifts to screw up any psychics.

Now, the downside is, that you've just screwed up a game you spent a good amount of time setting up, and your opponent will loudly proclaim "APOC sucks!", and you lose a person to play against.

Restrict his power to an Aura and have it effect everything within 36". There, fix'd.

But yes, Epidemius works on anything with Mark of Nurgle.

It's not overpowered. I tried it with a few others lots of stuff (including Skabeithrax) on the table. How was it countered? With all the awesome stuff the imperium has to offer. We only won the battle because they were so focused on killing us they forgot about the objectives.

FNP on a 3+ is nice so are power weapons on nurglings... but they mean nothing when you get hit with D weapons.

I've seen it used several times, and it always turned into a horribly overpowered gankfest as nurglings killed carnifexs, and demon hordes became unstoppable. If that's the style of Apoc people are playing, go for it. But talk it over with your opponent. I've got enough Str D stuff to make my opponents life hell, or play orks with Stompers and tons of KFF. But I first talk over the game with the other guys playing to see what we want to set up. We try for a good game we can play for several hours, with 20k to 40k points per side, and not have a wipeout on turn 3.

Again, read the first part of the Apoc book, talk to opponent, set up the game, discuss the level of cheese and horribly effective units.
