Okay for 50 points you get a model w/ 2 attacks base w/ Thunderhammer and a STR8 servo attack.

Here is the kicker though for 10 points he can hit always on a 3+.

It gets a little better

He gets to have 4 Cyberwolves at toughness 5 3 attacks base.

Wait it doesn't stop.

He's not a independent character.

He can ride a thunderwolf so you can add STR5 rending w/ 3 additional Attacks.

So for 145 points you get

1 wound model

3 Attacks with a TH at STR9 , 1 Attack at ST8 (4 ST9 on the charge) , these all hit on 3+, So a totally of five attacks. He has a 2+ save 5+ invuln against wound causing psychic attacks he can also get a 5+ save against Psychic attacks against units.

He comes with 4 Cyberwolves that are Toughness 5 and 3 attacks.

He's Calvary as he is on a thunderwolf. His Cyberwolves are Beasts. This means he gets Fleet, 12 inch charge.

Here is the kicker, he is not a independent character in close combat the player who owns the model can just take off Cyberwolves. So hope you can dig through the 4 wounds.

He's pretty much a beast and really worth the point value.

Oh yes i know Telion blah blah blah blah.

The funny thing is his whole move D3 is useless he cant ever join a squad and two squads cant occupy the same vehicle so its going to be pretty much him some independent characters and a couple of wolves riding in the landraider.

I had been using him as a cheap IC, but now I see that he doesn't have IC in his rules.
Strange. He was awesome as a 50 pt IC squad add for GH squads, but now I find out I'm cheating.

Wacky.

The problem is he's only 5 models that have only a 4+ save. Hardly game breaking. He is pretty neat, but he looks like a glass hammer.

He's pretty much a glass hammer yeah, he has a 2+ though.

And yeah he isnt a independent character at all which makes the whole Iron Priest useless.

I mean, I'm not saying they won't jump in and surprise somebody, what with 12" charge range and all, but don't expect them to start walkin' through termies and what not. I'm not really sure if they're worth it or not to be honest. Some playtesting is in order.

He's actually 155 for Thunderwolf and 4 cybers...then 165 with the necklace.

I'm meh about it. I was really disappointed that he wasn't an IC. Maybe it was a balance issue.../shrug.

He seems like a nice 'backup' unit to some thunderwolves...but if I needed that I might take the comparatively priced 10 Grey Hunters with 2 special weapons instead.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I like him. As mention its only 5 wounds but they are T5. I find sticking him behind a transport and the darting round and charging a weaker unit. While the main CC unit goes after the harder foes works nicely. The extra 3-4 Str10 attacks are a good send for taking out tanks; and if you give him the saga of the iron wolf you've a 50,50 chance of repairing your own tanks.

I like to run him as follows....

Iron Priest, Saga of the Iron Wolf
4 Cyber Wolves
3 Servitors with servo arms.

packed into a----Land Raider Redeemer----

you get a fast moving hard hitting tank, that can auto-repair itself with the priest inside, who can get out and take hits at T5, (majority from the wolves) and swing with 7 S8 power weapon attacks on the charge.

I'm wondering if they'll Errata him to be an IC. I mean, Saga of the Wolf is pretty useless without it. Is he meant to ride around in a Land Raider with some thralls to fix it? That's the only thing he'd be good for.

thats what I use him for.

that, and keep him near Bjorn the Fell Handed so i can laugh at people who try to kill the old dog.

He's just very cost efficient. His only problem is the 1 wound but he has basically 4 extra with the wolves.

Unless the unit takes 5 wounds and you roll a lot of 1's. Then he dies. He's nice, but not uber.

@Dietrich:

Not exactly:
If the unit takes 5 wounds, one would be allocated to him.
He would need to roll 'a lot of 1's'. He'd only need '1' on him specifically to say 'bye' to the whole unit.

If they give him IC status, I'd roll Space Wolves in a heartbeat. But I'm not holding my breath.

What? I can roll a bunch of 1s on my Plague Marine's saves and they'll die, but does that mean they aren't tough?

I think he looks pretty good. I'd definately take him in an armored spearhead list, unlike the poor Techmarine who just eats up an Elite slot.

Ahhh.. just imagine... 5 TWC, 4 HQ IC's with wolves., 3 Wolf Priests with cybers.

So many points and filled with Awesome filling.

Sorry, it was a quip. I forgot the .

If the unit takes 5+ wounds, you have to allocate to the IP. If you roll a lot of 1's, which my success rate with terminators is a testament to my ability to roll a lot of 1's, then you're going to quickly lose the unit. A lot.

He's only 1 wound. I can't get too excited by a 150-ish point unit that dies if I roll a 1. I roll a lot of 1's. Though, if he was 2 wounds, he'd have a lot going for him.

All I gotta say is that if someone ever tries to be all cool (despite being a gamer nerd) and shout "who let the dogs out" while having a thunder wolf army...

Then it should not be against the law to clobber them.. and then have the whole store do so
