These are tests for my Angry Marines (SW) force. I use Ork, Space Wolves and Assault Marine bits. Do the Ork arms look good, fitting and appropriately angry; or do they seem bad and out of place?

In the last pic the arms look too long, makes him look like a gorilla. (Maybe that's the look you want?)

The other pics look OK though I would like to see a more sideways view to be sure.

the ork arms might look okay once the models are painted, but as it is they look a bit out of place...especially the one in the last picture with the shoota

Personally, I think they look a bit goofy. "Heroic" scale already has certain features exaggerated, but when your fist is as big as the helmet that already has to fit around your head... something feels noticeably off. I'm looking at that last marine with the shoota, especially, and it screams "gorilla."

The screaming SW heads work with the angry vibe and I get where you're going with the bare, muscled arms and weapon swaps, but I don't know if the ork arms are the way to go. How are IG, size-wise? I've never dealt with the models before, so I don't know if they'd be as undersized as these are oversized, but by the look of them Catachan jungle fighter arms might fit the bill. They've got the Rambo feel that would fit perfectly with what you're going for. Anyone dealt with enough orks, SM, and Catachans to know if they'd be properly sized?

I agree with K.K, i think the arm's are a tad long. How could that be sorted? Shorten them slightly under the shoulder pads?

Yeah I agree with the arms being too long as well... However you had my hopes up big time! I saw the first two pictures and was hoping it was an entire SM force with bare heads yelling haha...

Ork hands look way too big for Space Marines. I think it looks awkward.

Yeah, once I built him mmy shoulders dropped at how not-as-planned the Shoota arms turned out. Here are the alternate shots:

I was hoping to make the arms look better after painting them, but with fists bigger than their heads they came out much more comical than intended. I may keep these gents as-is, but try other alternative bits.

The problem with the Ork arms is they are so huge that to use Ork and Marine arms mixed throughout a unit would look terrible. I think trying Catachan arms might work best. I just really liked the sloppiness and aggressive style of the Ork weapons and wanted to apply that brutal look to my Angry Marines. I think I actually have some Catachan arms lying around (from my Nurgle IG) but my only worry is how human arms will look with Marine should pads over them. My Scouts are going to have Ork shoulder pads, but I want to avoid using them on everything.

To all, thanks for the amazing response! Usually I post threads at three in the morning and no one sees my stuff. lol

I actually lol'd when I looked at the last picture... but in a good way

I'd suggest using maybe Catachan or Marauder arms... I think those might work better? I know someone suggested this already but I still think it would probably look better.

Here is a test with Catachan arms. They feel extremely short and it was tough to get an acceptable position but what do you think?

Do you think if I reduced the size of the Ork hands I may be able to pass it off as a good model. I am trying to avoid ridiculous exaggeration.

Personally, I prefer the Catachan arms.

Remember that the Marines are in power armor and not just wearing a thick coat ... bare arms would look smaller next to the armored body.

The Ork arms remind me of Mr. Hyde in "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". But, if that's the look you're going for, by all means, run with it !!

Everything I've seen with Angry Marines is really attitude and persona. How you put those into a model I don't know. What I'm getting at is that it's about their pose and detail. The best Angry Marines I've seen are basically regular marines, but they have maybe 2 powerfist, giving you the bird, or appearing to take a dump on a fallen enemy. I've even seen helmets remodeled to look like they are furrowing their brows.

Search the internet for just some drawn pictures of Angry Marines to get a feel for them and then go from there.

I have to agree with the other posters, catachan work very well. I also use marauder arms they work well with marine bodies.

Well since the Ork arms are to long, how about you cut the shoulders of the arms down some. They will be UNDER the SM shoulder pads. Personally tho, I think both sets of arms are out of scale. The Catachans look too short, and the Orks to large. I see why your wanting to use the Ork weapons tho, they give a nice powerful ANGRY look. Why not just use the Ork weapons?

Still not an ideal fit, but I've got to say I prefer the Catachan arms to the Ork ones. Sure, arms would look smaller out of power armor, but on the minis it's all about the visual effect... and they might be a tad on the weedy side. I honestly can't tell from the two pics. The left arm looks fine in the second pic, but the right arm in the first looks stubby. Is it just the camera angle?

The Catachan arms are definately better. The biggest thing you avoid is a hand as big as their already oversized heads. Don't try to model hands, just get different arms. Marauders could be the way to go too, I'd check it out.

Have you considered splicing Catachan and Ork arms together, making use of the bulk the Ork arms give you (which looks better, imo) but with the smaller Catachan hands to better fit weaponry. It is more work, of course, but you're working with plastic so it's not too hard to get a passable result.

I highly recommend Marauder arms. The ork forearms are too long, and the hands ginormous. Great concept though!

The leader below is the only one with marine shoulder pads. I cut the outer rim off the pads so they didn't obscure as much of the arms.

You shouldn't have too much trouble with marine shoulderpads over Cadian arms.

I love the concept. Can't wait to see more anger.

Catachan arms or Marauder arms are the way to go if you want reasonably 'human' proportions.

If by 'Angry Marines' you were intending to give them green skin, black hair and battered purple armour... then the Ork arms are just perfect.

You can cut the top of the ork shoulder off you know. Its not like it shows unded the shoulderpad anyway.
