I just got the tau empire codex and i came across a serious problem: i didn't see anything about Aun'shi in there. i've got an Aun'shi model, and i really want to use him...u know, it'd be such a waste if you couldn't use him anymore...

Aun'Shi was removed, methinks.

Sucks, don't it?

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

so....i'm not big on ethereals either, but Aun'shi was nifty if you can avoid him being one-shotted ( it happened to me when i played with my tau last time). but my questioin is if he isn't in the current codex, than will i still be able to use him? and if not, then what should i do?

He could be used in place of a regular Ethereal but besides that there are not a lot of options.

Don't throw it away! You never know when the next codex will come out and you'll get to use it again....

Aun'Shi was removed from the 4e codex.

You can still use the model as an Ethereal, you just can't use the special Aun'Shi rules.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I was also miffed when this happened, Aun'Shi was a good charactor. I hope they bring him or an eqivilant back in the next codex. But otherwise, as others have said, he can be used as an Ethereal with blade for now.

Sucks ... doesn't it :(

Yes, yes it does. He was a fun character to use.

For 105 points he had parry (could give up attacks to remove attacks from ICs) Rending, all Tau on the table had re-roll able leadership (pass or fail) and all Tau had +1A and +1 WS.

What Red_Lives said ... basically it made it worth while to have a Fire Warrior squad that "could" be used for close combat against certain foes. They stood no chance against CC specialists, but thats often the way with most non CC specialist choices

Agreed, the way they are making the 5th edition codices they seem to be going special character heavy once more. So Id be willing to bet he will come back

If you mean T'ros campaign Ethereal in IA3, that was not Aun'shi.

Aun'shi was supposedly sent after Farsight and his current whereabouts are unknown.

Reason Aun'shi was removed was probably that old Tau codex had only two specials, both of whom were close combat oriented. This made little sense for a shooty army, so current Codex has one command oriented special character, one shooty character and one close combat character.
