Got your guy today sage. Ill get some pics up later, but some C&C for ya. 1st Shotgun is great! Your painting still needs work, but thats a practive thing. The best improvment I can give you is to use less glue. The head especally has alot holding it on. Use just enough to where you dont even think it will hold. Oh and basing! It really makes a figure pop with some proper colored basing. Otherwise great job!

Also, sorry I havent had a chance to get yours out, Im working 60ish hour weeks atm, quite tired when I get home (just enough energy to paint some )

thanks for the feedback!! yea i have trouble with glue, i usually use too little then try to put a bit more on and it overflows . good thing for me to work on.

yea i didnt have basing supplies, i was able to get some only a few days after i sent your model, i would have given it some if i had.
im happy you liked the shotgun, it was an experiment and i think it was cool!!

take your time with the marine! im really looking forward to it.

Incorporating Wet-Blending

If ya want my advice as far as glue goes, try and get a hold of some dichlo. Its sold as plastic weld or solvent cement. It looks like water, and usually comes with a (very large) brush in the cap.

You apply it to both surfaces you want to bond using a brush of suitable size (make sure you dont use this brush to paint) and let it set a few seconds before pressing them together. The solvent dissolves some of the plastic, and melts the two pieces together. Used right, the result is a solid piece of plastic.

Its thin enough to have great control, and it doesnt glob up on plastic like cements and other glues do. Ya just gotta watch out that you dont put too much on- it can damage the parts

Lol. Looks good IA. Gotta get one of them white ones from ya sometime down the road.

I'm wondering how everyone is likeing this project so far? I've personally learned new stuff both by pushing myself and by seeing your figures in hand. Ive also made some new dakka friends along the way!

Also, with Imp Monkeys temporary drop out, I have no super busy trades atm, just one long term one. Graven and I started talking but not sure where he went? So if anyone else wants to do one, pm me. Otherwise Im going to go back to the begining and try to drag some other people into the frey.

@WM - mate this project is inspired, I've yet to complete any of my trades but already I have painted two of the finest models I have ever produced thanks to it. The desire to really showcase my skills helps me to make decisions on style or modelling that I would normally shy away from.

Great Idea and long may it continue...

Tis an excellent idea! Now if only I could get my first one finished...

Update!

Only the heads are now blu-tacked. The rest comes apart in four parts - Base, Space Marine corpse, Nob body and Rokkit Pack/Shoulder pads - for ease of painting hopefully... A bit more progress, but mostly the second one. Why make one when you can make two in twice the time?

i love this idea, im getting more marines just for this project. i think there is def a joy in trading marines that really makes me want to paint more marines. i almost want to make an army of other people's models. it would be an interesting concept

if anyone is interested ill be trading more marines in a week and a half or so when i get bak to school. anyone want to trade heavy weapons?

Ok so some progress, first on whale's guy:

This view gives a better angle on prototype jump pack, chapter symbol and data pad:

Still wip but you get the general idea.

Also a little wip of something for gitsplitta's eldest, a doom eagle Dante holding a necron flayed one head:

Btw arakasi those nobs are immense.

Thanks guys! Haven't heard any complaints from Gitsplitta yet With a bit of luck progress might speed up next week post Silver Sorcerer, and with reducing my painting to a handful of models at a time (rather than an entire army!) I should be able to slot them into the painting schedule easily too... Lots more modelling to do before then though! Haven't broken out the plasticard or greenstuff yet! Immense huh? As in large, awesome or both?

How cool is that!? Thanks graven! He'll flip over that!

No complaints about the nob from me... just setting a very high standard for me to live up to.

I like that. Thanks Arakasi for giving me a good reason to push myself just a little bit harder!

Thanks for positive feedback guys.

The backpack's from an Urban War Intedict:
http://www.urbanmammoth.co.uk/acatalog/info_13146.html

He needs cleaned up, Mk8 details added and space around the top of the sigil filled, and then I can start stressing about the base.

@gits: I'm going to try to mould a doom eagle logo for the shoulder too, I have no idea if it'll work though (press mould off a banner topper, cast and reverse-bend to shape whiilst still soft - might work!)

@sage: I'll try to do you a member of the cydonian 9th asap.

I want in on this! It will mean converting a chaos backpack to an astartes one as I'm clean out of those, but by the Emperor it will be done!

I'll be doing an Angel of Redemption btw, if anyone wants me that is. (or a homebrew traitor, if anyone is more interested in that)
