These are what we came up with to get 2 demon princes out of one box. Needed legs, I had some extras. Needed a back piece, too, so I used a genestealer spine. Enjoy.

Wow. 15,000 pageviews. Seems like just yesterday I was shaking in my boots with both fear and expectancy of being shut down, run out of town on a rail.
Instead, you guys are just as twisted as I'd hoped you would be. So to celebrate, and possibly cap off content extravaganza day (I may have more left in me yet!) I'm going to post a detailed WIP from start to finish so you guys can get a sense of how I'm converting these. Maybe even apply some of what I'll try and teach you to your own models. Now, you don't necessarily need to make yours look like mine (you can if you so desire, but be prepared to take some heat), but this isn't wizardry. Its very basic bending, hacking apart and gluing of models. Hopefully it will inspire you with confidence to destroy your own models in order to build something even better.
Oh, and its a comissioned by request model too. Same day work. Here we go!

Glad you enjoy. I didn't have a spare lictor laying around (they went in the garbage with 5e) but I did hack apart another relatively cool model for you.

Heres an overhead shot. I'm going to put a suicide pill in his left hand. That was actually the most complicated part, carving out his palm with the razor.
When I paint it, I'll do black and water effects down the first leg section, then fleshtones for the rest of the leg to give a skintight leathery look.

I think you should make one where an IG is being melted by that acid gun... thing.

You have also asked 'where do we draw the line' because, well, I guess you're curious. It's a thin line and we walk it oh so very well. They do not stop because they were told or because something is keeping them from it, they stop because they know that either the topic is over or they dislike where it is going. What you fail to realize is that the scrawling of mad-men who define words fail in capturing the way others feel about something. One man's trash is another mans gold. The above is a clear cut case of gold for all of us, except apparently you. Of course, opinion is a fiddly thing, and the majority of those following this thread share in the appreciation of Doom Thumbs' content.

Further, the examples of art you have posted, are all clear examples of classical art, which is all well and fair, but you appear to have taken no consideration of post-modern art. You may not have noticed, but we are in fact living in a post-modern world. Doom Thumbs is at liberty to express his personal self in whichever way he chooses, and if that method entails injecting crude humor into a game steeped in the darkness of bloody war-stained future, then that's his to do. I look at the content he posts to this site and while I hold issue with it, it posts clear examples of innovation that I myself am tempted to use. Considering that a good deal of people are incapable of even doing water effects, DoomThumbs is well ahead because I am envious of what he can do. Either way I fail to see how his choice in self-expression illegitimzes what he does, because it is in the end a productively creative effort. Most of the people that pick up the 40K hobby don't come up with very much that is creative or innovative in what they do, painting, and repainting armies the same color of red, applying a different trim to arrive at either a Khornate force, either marine or daemonic, or a blood angel force, or a red corsairs force, etc. I have seen a great many tyranids, painted with outstanding skill, were it not, by my opinion, for the fact that the colors were unnatural, unorganic and clashed. I was thoroughly displeased with what I felt was an offense to those models, but appreciated that my opinion had little to do with his or anyone else enjoying those models, or what he did with them. The argument that it ought to be kept in private if it is offensive to one or two people is invalid. That does not breed tolerance, it breeds intolerance and ignorance. Just as I have no right to ridicule or demean a person who I feel offensively paints models or wastes canvas does not grant me the power to demand them shut up, shut off, removed and ostracized. I can make my opinion, but that does not entitle in anyone else having to share it. You have made your opinion already but chosen to insist carrying on ramming this thread to the top of the list every odd couple of minutes, as well as risk getting it locked for steering it so badly off-topic, for, using your own words, failing to provide anything of artistic merit related to the content of this thread. You have also succeeded in embarrassing everyone here publicly for dragging us along on your adventure.

I intentionally did not use post modern art for that very reason, this forum has no age restrictions on who can see its content and no one has to even log in to see this page. it is not art because he self identified it as pornography when starting the thread. whatever you feel gets you excited does not mean it is acceptable. its art because it requires skill, follows the rules of design, and is aesthetically pleazing. regardless it is just color on a canvas, it is NOT however pornographic or vulgar.

I have also observed that none of the images you posted were in any way recent. I tried digging through your threads to find links to other images, but again, found very little that displayed your superior painting prowess to any appreciable degree, or innovative use of existing kits. You ridicule us for showing not improvement in skill or progression, but don't provide anything yourself to be evaluated on.

Let me dissect your second dictionary definition banded around earlier. "Art", as you have defined there, clearly satisfies what DoomThumbs is producing. It is quite clear that a certain amount of pre-meditation and concentration goes into his work, otherwise, the models would be a mess of glue and random parts, and yet, what he produces contains a method and a clarity to it. At a simple level, it can be appealing for its crude humor, but others can find it appealing for, as you have defined, its clearly non-ordinary significance. You use the word "Art" in an elitist method that would see you offend a child, but yet, when a child scrawls on paper, we are all in unanimous agreement that that scrawling, however undecipherable, is indeed art.

elitist has become a new buzz term to define people of credibility and intelligence in a field that they don't understand the 'common folk' as you do here. simply by producing a product requires a level of pre-meditation and concentration. a child scrawling on paper is art in the fact that it is aesthetically pleasing to people who see it (or namely the parents) and a very limited outside audience. thats of little significance because it is not pornography. any quality of work is allowed on dakka, its the nature of this 'project' that is offensive.

You also band the word Vulgar around, pretending you have the power of knowledge imbued in your veins. And yet, the art you showed contained nudity, and violence, two things which at base can be considered to be vulgar. Let us track back to the romantic period in history, where there is a sudden burst of the nude form. I guarantee you, that before this period, the display of the naked human form was quite vulgar and offensive. Consider also Francisco de Goya, who produced art of great quality. Consider also that later in his life the art he produced became progressively darker and more vulgar as as his life went on. You mean to tell me, that his painting of Cronus eating his children, is of no merit for the fact that it is vulgar?

I do in fact hold the power of dictionary.com and the proper definition as you do as well. to put you in a little perspective the second half the the 18th century is hardly a long time ago. the library of alexandria had as much knowledge as we do know about the human condition and psychology, before it was burned to the ground by sexist bigots or "The decree of Coptic Pope Theophilus in AD 391;" However even the very talented and inspiring work of Goya is in itself not vulgar.

"Your" mini is hosted on a photobucket account, and looks very similar to almost every other model out there. Its a nice paintjob, if it is indeed yours, don't get me wrong. Its just that the stance and general originality of the figure is about as bland as air flavored oatmeal. Also, its hosted offsite, so you are either A) detracting from Dakka pageviews, hurting the website you claim to like, or B) Unwilling to put it in your gallery because its not really yours. Your gallery still shows the same 27 very low quality images. I fully grasp the concept that you find my work distasteful. Do you understand that everyone else is laughing at you, writing essay length critiques of your critiques, while the content hungry starve to death?

Hand waiving: is drawing or assuming conclusions without evidence. Outside of an argument, it typically refers to skipping over a complex explanation or assuming it is obvious. E.g., "Sam did a lot of HandWaving when asked how the rendering engine would work."

thats fine I disagree with you because it is not designed to stand out or overshadow the other more elaborate models in my army. as I said before I do not use dakka because of threads like yours I instead go to private forums where threads like this are deleted. If you doubt my credibility you should first look at the source link to the image.
