Yeah, that happens. But if you use a melta burst before, any boyz not killed by the melta are easily mopped up by the combat knife, especially if you have serrated knife.

Assault, definitely. Rock the bolt pistol and chainsword + Swordsman's Zeal and Impenetrable for the first arena, then switch over to Thunder Hammer + Killing Blow for subsequent rounds.

I did try out a Blast Off+Death from Above build once. Really fun but loses effectiveness once 'Ard Boyz start coming.

Devastator.

Because nothing says "hey, you're dead!" like a plasma cannon.

Meltagun/stormbolter/serratedknife tac is also fun, as is power sword assault marine.

Does the Co-op stuff reveal any story stuff of the campaign or does it just jump into the game play of the levels?

Tac Marine

Storm Bolter/Plasma Gun with the quick-reload for the Bolter.

Really strong long range attacks with the Plasma, and Storm Bolter is brutal in close range...the only Boyz i worry about are 'Ard Boyz

It throws you into an arena based off levels in the game with up to three other people. You pick your multiplayer character loadout, the game throws wave after wave or orcs at you. That's about it.

The second map can be argued to follow the story...

Very very vaguely, but still.

bombboy, T-hammer is awesome, then again I have Killing Blow so I mow down orks by the handful You only notice the slowness when up against things like deamon maul CSM's or the Big Nobz. I tried the Power Axe with zeal. I got pasted too many times to like the class... I would think the Chainsword/Powersword + zeal would be good for speed reasons.

Fave class? A bit obvious
Assault Marine. Thunder Hammer, Bolt Pistol, Frag Grenades. Killing Blow and Inpenetrable perks.

You get so many grenade drops, I'm on stimms at least 25% of the time.

My favorite is tactical with storm bolter and meltagun or kraken bolter, because it's fun to be shooty. But, with such a lack of ammo and too many ammo hogs, I usually just play assault with a plasma pistol and thunderhammer, and the perk to make death from above stronger and damage nearby enemies when you first take off, and I pretty much just divebomb everything I see.

I know it's just a reskined chain sword, but how do you get the power sword? (I play the PC version if that makes a difference.)

On the Xbox I know you needed to buy "Kill team"...and I know it says it's a reskined chainsword...but I think it has more range making it much more effective...at least it seems like it has more range anyway

No, Ill agree it has longer reach for sure. Ive thought that many times, and my brother actually has a power sword and he SWEARS he gets kills farther out then the chainsword

It does seem to have a longer reach yeah.

As for how to get it, kill team on PS3 or 360, or the THQ.com preorder bonus on PC (quite possibly it'll become DLC soon).

After playing a bit of this yesterday, I found that I really enjoy the Tactical with Plasma Gun / Storm Bolter / Serrated Blade. The plasma gun does a great job of clearing out mobs, as well as doing good damage to some of the larger, more annoying orks (and chaos) and has a great shot to ammo pickup ratio. Storm bolter is my fallback, and then having serrated blade allows for decent CC ability for mopping up or ammo conservation.

Bros... get excite!

---
the DLC coming out lets you play as Chaos in Exterminatus.

Adds 3 more multiplayer maps.

AND adds a CTF game mode!

December though... hopefully there will be enough people around to enjoy these things!

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. Nov 2, 2011 – THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced details of the first downloadable content pack for Warhammer® 40,000®: Space Marine® scheduled to release for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Playstation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC in December.

The premium add-on pack, which has a suggested cost of 800 Microsoft Points / $9.99, will include a new Exterminatus mode called Chaos Unleashed. In this update to the popular co-op mode players will take on the role of Chaos Space Marine as they take the fight to both the Ork horde and Imperial Guard forces. With brand new boss rounds, new co-op arenas and new enemy units like the Imperial Sanctioned Psyker this mode is a must-have for players looking for a new challenge.

As well as the Chaos Unleashed Mode, the Space Marine add-on pack also includes three new multiplayer maps Habs Ablaze, Station Tertius and Aquila Canyon which can be played in all multiplayer game modes. The pack will also include ten new achievements and trophies.

In addition to the premium add-on content all players of Space Marine will receive a new multiplayer Capture the Flag Mode for free. Playable on all the game’s multiplayer maps, this team based mode challenges players to defend their flag while attempting the capture their opponent’s.

Jim Huntley, Vice President of Global Brand Management commented,

“Space Marine offers a robust multiplayer experience out of the box but the addition of new maps, modes and challenges should keep the community playing for months to come.”

Alongside this add-on content THQ will be releasing a number of new player skins for sale on the Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network, Playstation® Network and STEAM. Players will be able to purchase unique Salamanders, Alpha Legion, Legion of the Damned and Blood Angel skin packs for a suggested price of 240 Microsoft Points / $2.99 each.

The Space Marine add-on pack is scheduled to be available to purchase on Xbox 360, Playstation®3 and Windows PC in December.

I'd merely like the chime in the opinion that it is woefully pathetic to charge $10 for content in game that barely had any to start with.

That is all.

That's pretty neat, but $2.99 each for the skins? Lame sauce...

IDK, I'd pay $3 for a really cool looking Salamanders or Dark Angels skin. Cool being the operative word. That Space Wolves skin that came with some preorders was horrible compared to the Black Templar and Blood Raven ones.

Yea, I guess you do move pretty slow for CTF. I wonder how they would do the whole flag carrying... just carry it on your back with full access to weaponry? How would they balance ASMs picking it up? No jumps?

Balance? Why, when the devs seem to love killing blow ASM and Pcannon devvies? ASM would need a fix in ctf, they won't get one. Its not how THQ works. If the balance team likes something, regardless of how rage inducing it is, the broken POS stays. See the agony of Company of Heroes and its very drawn out demise as evidence.

Also, THQ, quick question. Please point me to a game, $60 or less, that on release had only four multiplayer maps and one game mode. I'm sure there were several like that in a beta stage but they fixed themselves. Quickly.

And now you come to me, after I've paid you, and tell me you need more money for a game you already finished? feth off.

Riddle me this: what has four sides, moves twelve inches, and moved fourteen?

It actually came with 5 maps(which isn't enough) and 2 game modes, admittedly one of those modes was just team deathmatch.

Also, THQ doesn't handle the balancing, that is Relic. However, I don't really know anything about CoH, but they do pretty well changing up the balance in DoW2.

Hammer ASMs aren't very hard to kill as a Tac, at least in my experience. Once you dodge their first attack you can kill them before a follow-up. Sword ones seem much more difficult to deal with.

CoH is also relatively balanced, or was when I left it before Tales of Valor.
